TtheHero Obvoisly, you're using ZSNES as the emulator, yes?
When you play a ROM, you have a couple files to pay attention to.
SMC =the ROM itself (if you extracted it from the zip.)
SRM = the file for the in-game save data
ZST = the emulator's save state file
As long as all these are with each other in the same folder, you'll have nothing to worry about! Just to e on the safe side, save the state, after you save in game. It helps back up your progress for sure! Hm... I'm actually using bsnes (because that was the first one I found), though the same principles probably apply. I'll try it after I take a shower, because I ******** up and accidentally opened the srm with some other program xP

So... About this Emulator... Is it free? How could I use it? I would really like to play some oldschool games like Crystalis and Earthbound... Any tips on how to do this... correctly and virus-free?

I'm always happy to help a gamer in need!
Oh, and here's another site, but focus on gettiong emulators here; you won't get much ROMS at this site.
http://emulator-zone.com/
But let me tell you guys... it is HELL trying to find a decent N64 or PSX ROM! You always go to these places where you must vote, and they almost always have links going to hentai and that other stuff. So be careful, k?

Uhm... extract ZSNES from the zip, and there you have it! All you need to do is have that and the roms in the same folder, then load up the games, and you're all set!
For saving states, here's a little shortcut.
F1 is to select a save state slot
F2 is to save the state
F4 is to load the saved state. Useful if you wanna save
Saving states is useful if you wanna save before a potentially tough part, and you can;t save in game.

Another cool thing I only recently found out after half a decade of playing emulators:
When you use F1 you can choose slots 0-9, which means you have up to ten save slots. But if you push down you have another 9 sets of ten to choose from. So in each game you have a potential 100 save slots. =)

...Does it matter whether or not I'm on Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer?
Edit: Do I save or open the files? Same with the ROMs...

Aurons_Blade ...Does it matter whether or not I'm on Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer? I don't think so. I'm using Firefox and it works fine for me. I don't imagine IE would have any problems.

Don't just open the files, SAVE them. the reason why the ROMs are zipped are because they take up a bit more space when extracted. You can still load them while they're in the zip folder; it'll run fine.
But in the case of applying patches, like say the Mother 3 translation patch(when it finally comes out), you'd have to extract the file from the zip to apply the patch.
Well that all i'm posting for tonight. Good night and have fun!

So what's all your opinions on turning off the Gaia warning. I'm really leaning towards doing it cause a) It's annoying as hell. b) I'm not an idiot and can probably see through a scammer's tricks. c) I really don't care that much about my avatar. Sure it would suck to lose all my stuff but... It is just a bunch of pixels.

But when you least expect it the scammers will crawl from their filthy mess of pizza boxes in their parent's basement and eat your computer alive. Like aliens.
