I felt somewhat possessed. I guess I just had a weird instinct. Something in my body told me I had to establish a dominance over you... Don't hang up yet." He pleaded, knowing his words were growing bolder and the topic was growing fragile, " I want to know if you feel it too. This feeling... like we're fated to be together... like, perhaps you were intended to find me and serve me. Please don't hang up - I can't understand it myself. I just need to know what you are feeling, so we can work through this together."

Jounouchi was at a loss for words. As much as he hated to admit it, Malik was somewhat right... he did feel that... that weird fate thing... but he really didn't want to admit it, because that kind of supernatural stuff was for Yuugi and Bakura, not him... and yet... he couldn't deny what Malik was saying. And if Malik really was feeling the same strange things as Jounouchi, maybe he really had been... possessed... Jounouchi swallowed a lump in his throat, "I... sort of... know what you're talking about...." he said oh-so-quietly, becomming quieter as he finished the sentence. He could feel his face burning from embarrassment, but he wasn't going to lie about something like this...

Malik could sort of make out the words that were being whispered to him, at least he got the feeling that the answer was yes, he understood. The shame in Jounouchi's voice was apparent, but it didn't discourage Malik from further attempts at uncovering the hard truth. "That's why you came to save me right!?" Malik concluded, "I know you don't have any good reason to care that much for someone like me - that's why it has to be fate. The Gods aren't giving us much choice but to endure the pain the other places upon our back... That's why when I'm hurting I feel a yearning for you. And that's why I felt I had to put you in your place for talking down to me... I still can't fully explain what it is that is driving us to behave like this, but at least I know now that I'm not completely insane." He laughed and reveled in the fact that his suspicions were correct - and that perhaps the blond would indeed forgive him. Maybe these pieces of the puzzle would even lead to discovering why he was being haunted by his other self as well.

"Yeah..." Jounouchi mumbled, realizing that Malik's theory did at least somewhat make sense. But he wasn't sure if he wanted to pursue an answer. Maybe everything would just stop if he and Malik stopped hanging out... then they wouldn't have to deal with any of this crap and everyone would be happy. Besides, if this weird mystical thing was what was causing Malik to act strange, then, he probably didn't actually care about Jounouchi anyway, so it wouldn't be a big deal if they just started ignoring each other.
These thoughts swam through Jounouchi's head as he considered suggesting them to Malik.

((It's like... my second-favorite video game fanchise ever! X3 It's where you play this lawyer, Phoenix Wright, who is a defense attorney, and you need to solve murder cases and find your client innocent. It sounds weird but it's soooo fun! X3 Here This is a poster I have based on the first game. X3 It has a lot of implied BL and yuri too, namely from Phoenix (the main character in the blue suit) and Edgeworth (the prosecutor in the pink suit). <3 And hurray for cavity moments! <3)) Jounouchi went silent. Word could not describe how terrible he felt right now. Why... why had he never looked at it like that...? Why had he never thought of seeing things in Malik's point of view? Not only was he straight, but Jounouchi considered himself to never have actually been in love with anyone... there were girls he had been attracted to, but they always turned him away. And he had to admit, even being disliked by those silly girls who he just thought were attractive... even that hurt... so for Malik, this must've been so much worse, and Jounouchi could feel the hatred for himself rising up. "I-I..." he stuttered out, biting his lip, "I'm not gay but... I will... try to stay friends..." he mumbled.

Malik didn't initially anwser at first. The words lingered in his ears painfully and the phone slipped out of fingers onto the bed. It's not like it hadn't been expected... but... for some reason he knew he'd still be able to be friends with Jounouchi. It was the first part that stung his heart hard. Since when did he even care so much!? A few days ago the blond was nothing but an idiot who happened to be a little bit attractive. He stared down at the phone on his bed, blinked out the stinging in his eyes and reached for it slowly. But despite being able to hoist the phone back to his ear he remained at a loss for words.
"...so... that's how it is..." He finally muttered softely his tone etched in dismay.
((Oh, that's cool art. I've never heard of anything like it. So it's an RPG or something?))

Jounouchi blinked in surprise, "Wh-what...?" Why did Malik sound upset? He had just said that he'd forgive him... what? Did Malik expect him to magically turn gay because of that heart-felt confession? ...shouldn't it have been good enough that he wasn't rejecting Malik, telling him to hit the road, after all that had happened?
Jounouchi didn't understand true rejection... to him, rejection was being disliked, ignored, hated, avoided... it wasn't simply not returning someone's affections... because every girl he had ever had a thing for hated him, so he thought that that lack of hatred was a great response, the best that Malik could hope for...
((No, it's a point-and-click adventure. You don't battle or anything, but desipher clues and choose answers and what evidence to present based on them. It is so fun though! X3))

"Did you not hear me?" Malik grunted, his tone abruptly sharpening, "I said, so that's how it is? You're such an idiot. You don't even understand anything. I thought I was socially inept, but you are just as terrible as me. No wonder we are always bickering." The Egyptian sighed heavily, "Why are you so surprised? Am I supposed to rejoice now or something? Am I supposed to feel terribly grateful because you are such a wonderful person for blessing me with your presence? Don't flatter yourself so damn much."
((Oh... that sounds so weird. I've never played a game like that before. O.o))

What was this guy's problem?! Was it impossible for him to be satisfied?!
((I hadn't either until then. But it's awwwwsome...! X3 It's almost like a mystery novel, where you do a lot of reading, but at the same time figure out clues on your own. <3 There's three games out right now; they're all for DS though.))
