Marie smiled warmly, appearing to be lost in her thoughts as she gazed lovingly at the boys' father. Though, Elizabeth's voice stirred her from her thought. She turned her head towards the girl beside her. "Of course," she said.

"Why does Theo have a golden eye? Everyone else has blue eyes, but he only has one. Why is that?" she hoped she wasn't asking anything to personal. The question had just stuck to her head since she saw his eyes. She just didn't think she could come to ask Theo the question since her had been a bit, grumpy.

Marie blinked, looking surprised. Then she smiled. "My mother had golden eyes," she told him. She shrugged then added, "It must have skipped a generation." Even though she herself didn't have golden eyes, she still carried the gene for it.

Elizabeth nodded. "Well that makes since. At first I thought like something bad happened to his eye... Um another question... why did you pick me to marry Theo?" she turned to face Marie with a serious look upon her face now.

Marie smiled and looked back to the painting. But, her smile was not like her previous smile, it was sad, grieving almost. "Before Grant was killed, Theo was always so happy. He was playful and even a bit... I suppose you could say, mischievous. Oh sure, he and Donovan still fought, but nothing like now. But, after Grant was killed, well, you've seen how he is now. We all took Grant's death hard, but Theo especially. They were so close, nearly inseparable." She sighed and closed her eyes, bowing her head. She stayed like that for a minute, as if she had forgotten she was not alone. Then, she raised her head again, her gaze landing on Elizabeth. "I was hoping that you would be able to help him."

Elizabeth couldn't imagine Theo being happy, playful. It surprised her extremely at how his mother discribed him. She barely heard Marie's last words cause she was in thought of how horrible and heart wrenching it must have been for Theo to loose his father so suddenly. Her gaze went back to the picture, more on baby Theo then anyone else. "I will try my best." she found herself saying as she tried to imagine Theo smiling once again, which cause a small smile to form on her lips.

Marie smiled warmly, but still sadly. "Thank you," she said. Elizabeth had no idea how much it would mean to her to see her eldest son to smile again. She suddenly laughed quietly, looking back to the painting. "I know you find it hard to believe, but Theo and Donovan had been very close once," she said.

Elizabeth's whipped away from the picture to look at Marie with shocked eyes. But then they saddened and she looked back at the picture. "I guess one bad thing leads to another." she said refuring to the death of their father. She shook her head slightly with a frown on her face as she looked away from the picture.

Marie just grunted. She didn't correct Elizabeth. The truth was, Donovan had grown cold towards Theo even before Grant's death. He had always been jealous of Theo's relationship with Grant, that their father favored Theo over him but, just before Grant's death, it had spiraled out of control until he was the man he was now: Cold, deceitful and calculating.

Elizabeth looked up and gave the picture one final look at it. "I am getting a bit hungry, so I guess I'll go to the kitchen to get something." she turned and began slowly walk away from the picture and the mother. She wondered if Theo was still inside the kitchen. She sighed and began weaving around the walls, tring hard to not get lost in the maze of a halls. She finally made her way to the kitchen and opened the door, ignoring everyone in there and she simply walked to the fridge and began to look inside it for somthing to eat. Her stomach suddenly growled with anger at being mistreated as she was looking about the fridge.

Marie didn't say anything, just continuing to stare at the painting in longing. Theo was no longer in the kitchen, though the cooks still were. The head chef looked over at Elizabeth. "Is there anything in particular you hunger for?" he asked.

Elizabeth looked over at the chef and shook her head and closed the fridge door and leaned against the fridge. "No, that is why I was looking." she said as she couldn't think of anything that she wished to eat. "I think I will just have an apple." she said as she grabbed an apple she saw and bit into it. The juice made her mouth water and she chew it with pleasure, the juice runned down her throut along with the food as she swollowed. She licked her lips and took another bit, chewed and swollowed. Before she bit into the apple again she looked up at the chef. "I hope it is okay if I stay in here for a bit. I don't have anything in mind to do." she looked at the chef pleadingly.

The chef nodded and smiled. "It's fine," he said before continuing on with what he was making, as well as over-seeing the other, younger cooks. They didn't seem at all distracted with Elizabeth's presence, though they knew she was there. ((g2g))

Elizabeth finished the apple and threw the core away and sat down on an unused conter and just laid back and watched the cooks to the works with what ever they were making. What ever it was it smelled wonderful. She closed her eyes and simply listened the cooks as the moved about the kitchen.

The cooks worked quickly and efficiently. No one ever came into the kitchen. Instead, the cooks would, every once in a while, take the food from the kitchen and, a time later, return with empty pots. Obviously, the food was served elsewhere.
