No I'm not in pain now >.>

The actual impact, that specific event of me getting hit?
Was many years ago.

(to purple: you remember when mom homeschooled those 2 brats awhile back - you know, the ones that broke the door on your play-kitchen that you moved downstairs to get it out of your way - mom had me go down and watch them and while playing with a basketball, one of them hit me with it)

I don't even remember how long ago that was.
But that was nothing really.
I didn't get hit TOO hard, and it stopped hurting after a little bit.

But what really scared the s**t out of me was several years ago. And no, I don't think the 2 are connected in any way.
(as in more then 5 probably)
That's the event in question that worries me.

[I don't have any pain now (and yes, everything "functions" properly),
but at that very short second (it didn't last but for a sec or 2) in the past,
It was incredibly painful. I'm talking sharp searing pain in one specific spot.
(one weird thing, is that a less intense version woke me out of a sound sleep about a week or 2 later - but it's location mirrored that exact spot, though on the other side)
] = (nasty details)

I would have gone to a doctor for sure, if I had the money.

THAT's why I worry about hidden permanent damage.

I just hate the idea of health care being this giant business. It just feels like the priority is not where it should be.

In case you were serious about moving to Canada.. lol Honestly, it's hard for people to get jobs in any country these days. It's probably nearly as hard to get one here as it is in the states right now. It's cheaper to live in a province like Alberta, or the other interior provinces but there's almost nothing out there and people die of boredom. Since you're a more liberal type of person you should know those areas are more conservative.

It would be more expensive but the best place to live would probably be Ontario. Or you could come live here in Vancouver, though teachers get paid s**t here compared to the rest of the country which is why one of my best friends is currently teaching in England.

I hate places that are conservative.
They're just being stupid.

Dude: Huh. 'K, I wasn't expecting that. I had a whole different scenario in mind, so if that's how it happened, I'm actually slightly relieved and slightly concerned at the same time. That WAS many years ago; you ain't kiddin' about that. *does some math* That was between 8 and 12 years ago. eek So the real pain is unrelated to any actual physical trauma. Okay, that narrows it down, I'm sure. If you were that concerned about it, tho, I'm sure the 'rents would've footed the bill for you to see a doc. You have no trouble asking for money for random toys that you want, but you can't ask for help to see a doctor when you need to? confused I avoid doctors too, but if I'm in real pain, I go. I've been to the clinic three times this year alone. I'm not happy about it, but each time was necessary for one reason or another. I suspect embarrassment was a bigger factor than money for you.

Iakun: I'm sorta half joking, half serious. My job issues are really building, so I'm weighing my options. I'd like to go back to school, but that requires money, and I'm not sure I want to get a loan that big for something that may not pay off. I'd seriously think about moving somewhere else if I thought I had a better chance elsewhere.

Purple: I don't think you'd have that better a chance here in Canada but I do think it would be slightly better. The U.S. is such a huge place though with so many cities. There's probably another state you could probably have better luck at jobs with. If you were to come to Canada you'd have to keep in mind that, not being a Canadian citizen you wouldn't have the full rights you do as an American.

dude: Personally, I think being too conservative or too liberal isn't the best thing. Although you might not agree with conservatives in general, I don't think it's in anyone's best interests to think of liberals as heroes and conservatives as villains.

Purple:
Actually I did talk to mom about it.
And no, we DIDN'T have the money for it at the time.
What really bugged me though is that she practically dismissed it as nothing. Said... "if it was only for a second and hasn't returned sence, you're probably fine"
Like geez... Mom and dad wine about their pains all F'ing day, but mine aren't important? [removed]

Of course there was that one time about 2 years before that... it scared the s**t out of me just as much. (made me feel sick to my stomich)
Nasty Details- [That time I actually bleed from my pee hole. It wasn't a constant stream, just mixed in with my semen. But there wasn't any pain at all. I wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't seen the blood smear on my
underwear.
]

Those 2 times were years ago yes, and neither has re-occured sence, but I still worry about permanent hidden damage that might still remain.

eek Oh wow I wasn't expecting that in depth information. Though since you've mentioned it I can say this -->Every now and then a little bit of blood in the semen is actually common. I would only worry if it happens really often and/or if the blood looks quite fresh (more red/pinkish rather than a bit more brownish)<--

If you're quite insistent on seeing the doctor (which I wholeheartedly support you in) I would just save up money to get there eventually. I've had to have my bits inspected a few times. It's quite embarrassing but it's also a relief when you find out what's up (or not up).

Iakun:

What you have just said now makes me feel better then anything ever said before.

Thank you SOO much!

I really did need that.

(I'd still like to see a doctor, but without a job, I'm between a rock and a hard place)

First, dude, do NOT call our parents assholes. Dad may be, but mom isn't. And there's no reason for that kind of name-calling in a permanent post.

Second, was it just for a second? You didn't mention that. If so, then you can't much blame mom for being unconcerned. She has to live with constant pain, which is why she complains. Momentary pains, regardless of intensity, in most parts of the body, are caused by little things that really don't need to be worried about. An infection, a muscle pull or tear, nerve damage (all things I've experienced) produce pain that lasts longer than a second. I understand you being miffed by the lack of "oh, poor baby" in her tone, but if you think about it, an extremely brief pain that doesn't reoccur really isn't much to be concerned about. I get those from time to time in various body parts; it's the chronic pains I worry about. And for the record, I don't get much sympathy from her either, unless I have a reoccurring or chronic pain to complain of. So it's not just you. After everything she's been through, it takes a little more to impress her, healthwise.

Third, looks like Iakun is your personal "doctor." xd

Fourth, if you REALLY wanted to see a doctor, you've got quite a wad saved up for the anime con. It's all about priorities. You've obviously chosen to put the con before anything else, so you can only blame yourself on that front. Not criticizing, btw. I've done my share of frivolous spending. I'm just saying that sometimes our priorities aren't what they should be, and if something is important enough to us, we'll find a way.

Purple:
There, I removed it, happy?

Forgive me if I seem overly concerned, but it is my d**k after all.
(not the same thing as even a sharp pain anywhere else, which I have also had BTW)
[no where near as painful or worrysome]
A very sensitive spot, that I use every F'ing day.
So until you have a sharp searing pain in your [edit],
don't tell me how serious to be about it!
(yes, I took that as a personal insult)

Yes I have quite a bit saved for the con, but I doubt it would be enough for a doctors visit with as expensive as they are. If it's even 200, I wouldn't have enough.

And yeah.
Iakun knows more then you do here.
You're not qualified to tell me how concerned I should be.
No woman would EVER be.
(just to be fair, I'll agree that no man is qualified to tell anything to a woman either)

Well, if we just think about ourselves as humans here, not man or woman, everyone has different levels of empathy/sympathy which is dictated by their own personal experiences. I don't think Dude is entirely out of line for expecting some sort of open concern from your mother. It's just unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on how you look at things) that with her own experience of pain she doesn't feel a need to be concerned whenever he has his own momentary pains.

But people are different... Because of my weight, I deal with pain and discomfort all day every day. Oddly enough, that actually makes me more sensitive and doesn't stop me from showing concern or care for anyone else's momentary pains in the house.

You always seem to word things so logically.
Makes everything sound so reasonable.

Purple just tries to even things out by talking about the other side of the coin. Which only serves to make me feel like she's belittle-ing everything I'm concerned with.

You talk about everything all at once in such a general manner, I feel as though I can understand and except it better.

Second warning, dude. Watch the language. "********" is not acceptable word usage. This is not one of your porn forums. And for the record, I have had both sharp, searing pains and dull, chronic pains in that area. Why do you think I'm so careful about avoiding stuff that can give me an infection of the type that I'm so easily susceptible to? I've had them often enough that, yeah, I'm a little bit less sympathetic than you would like me to be. It's not like I've ever gotten much sympathy from you. You're always reminding me how cold and unfeeling the world is and how that's the reason you act the way you do. Well, prove it. Quit expecting sympathy from those you show no sympathy towards. If the world is cold, why should you expect anything from it?

Yes, you have enough for a visit to a doctor. Sans testing, it wouldn't be more than $50.

A woman doctor would be qualified, just to point that out. That's what they go to school for.

PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2010 5:40 pm
The world is pretty cold and mean. But we don't have to be that way. Purple does have a point. We can't just expect sympathy or empathy from others without genuinely feeling it for them too. As far as the money goes, Purple's also right about priorities. If this particular health issue is a large concern then you'll just have to dip into the money you have available to pay for a doctor.

As for how I word things... sweatdrop from my short life experience, I've noticed so much discord simply because people never sorta step back and look at the bigger picture. Hell, I'm not perfect. Moon can even tell you I can be pretty irrational and fly off the handle about things as well. Problem is, it's so much easier to advise others than it is to police ourselves. lol

Heh, not sure who that last part was directed at, but I agree. It is a lot easier to advise than to take our own advice. I admit dude's been pushing my psychological buttons, and I shouldn't let him. I've let myself get wrapped up in this argument in an effort to do exactly what I said I wasn't going to do anymore: try to show him a better way of life and perspective and get him to see the world outside of himself. I'd given up on that, but old habits die hard. It's hard to avoid in here, tho, when this is my guild and I have to keep an eye on it. It's hard to avoid commenting on stuff, correcting misconceptions, and responding to questions. I don't think I should avoid it, but I shouldn't let it take away my balance. I've meant everything I've said, so I won't apologize. But I will step back and distance myself.
