Nickname: Lion
Naming Dream: There he lay – broken, defeated, chest open and heart exposed to the unfeeling world. His mane was tangled and though his teeth were bared, it was for breath, not intimidation. I checked him. The vital muscle his ribs no longer caged was still beating strong, somehow. The poor beast had no protection as vultures circled and wolves encroached.
He could not defend himself, and so I became his defense.
What else could I do? I would not leave him to their mercy.
I turned to guard him, taking a strong stance against his foes. They paid little mind, convinced I was a pretender. I crouched, bared my teeth, narrowed my gaze. The vulture swooped, the wolf snarled – but they would not have him!
I felt a warmth in my chest. I stared down the others, and roared; a deep roar, a rumbling roar – a lion’s roar.
The enemies scattered.
I turned to check on my ward, and found light encompassing – no longer was he there, but I could feel his beating heart within me. No longer did he fear the enemies that had once surrounded him, and no longer did I. I carried him with me from that grove, a lion heart within my chest.
