The Lake

[Doktar Hobo 2]

Desmond nodded, he really didn't mind sharing how, so he said, "Really bad car accident."  

[My Paper Rose]

She nodded, looking across the water "My sister died. A couple years ago."  

[Doktar Hobo 2]

"What was her name?" Desmond asked, but then said, "You don't have to answer if you don't want to." He didn't want to bring up bad memories.  

[My Paper Rose]

"It's ok. Emma. Her name was Emma." She wished she was still holding his cold hand.

Desmond sighed slightly. "It's always hard to lose someone close to you." He said.  

[My Paper Rose]

"It is. I miss her a lot. She was only ten." Rose's brow furrows "Do you think... Is it possible she's... a... shadow? Like you?" Hope edged into her voice.

Desmond noticed how hopeful she seemed. "I don't know, and even if she was, she'll probably look different and won't remember the people around her." He said, telling about how it was for him.  

[My Paper Rose]

She nodded, containing her pain "Perhaps it's for the best."

Desmond patted her back. "Yeah, it's not that fun to be a shadow." He said.  

[My Paper Rose]

She scooted closer to him, enjoying his comfort. She looked up into his dark eyes "Could you leave me right now? If you wanted to, could you turn into a shadow and be gone forever?" She asked softly.

Desmond shook his head. "No, if I became a shadow, I'd just be hidden for a while, nothing would really happen." He said.  

[My Paper Rose]

Rose slid off her shoes and stepped into the cool water. It lapped around her ankles. She turned to see him watching her.

Desmond had a more fun idea. He took a few steps back and started running, jumping pretty far out into the water, it was deep enough that he went underwater completely. A few seconds later, he surfaced and smiled at her. "C'mon in. The water's fine."

She beamed and ran after him. Her dress floated around her "This is probably illegal." She smiled

Desmond chuckled. "Yeah, and if anything happens, I can just teleport us and your car away so we'd be fine."
