As Runner continued into the tropical Island, he noticed a railway in the middle of the area and a Train going through, as it passed by, he jumped on and hitched a ride, he realized it would likely lead him to the jewel he seeked, on the train were two people, one of them looked like they were about to be hit by the train outside, the two people on the train were Gresley and John Marston, John had a very wild west feel to his attire, and several guns to boot, as he looked around, he reached into his red jacket and pulled out a Revolver, it wasn't aimed at anyone, it was a simple matter of the lack of life around, and zombies...lots of zombies. Runner looked over at John Marston and asked,

"What do you think is causing this Zombie infestation?"

John Marston cocked his eye at Runner as he asked the question, and with a quick response he said,

"Some say it's the moon, my son told me a story one time, I traveled all across the Wild West in search of a cure, none was found. A professor developed a time machine so that I could come to a more modern time, and hope for a cure, in result I only got more zombies."

Watching the kid more in his red jacket, and goggles, John grew curious on why he looked the way he did.

John Marston: "What is with you kids in this day and age wearing such attires?"

In response Runner said,

"It's... the way...society works now I suppose."

He lied of course, it was because of the trends of modern day society, most people dressed awkwardly, at least he hadn't dyed his hair a different color.

He listened, calmly hearing the rustling of leaves. The pattern seemed to have no rhythm, but it seemed to make sense yet.

Where are you? he thought, when suddenly a dark rift tore open in front of him, pulling him deeper into it.

"What the hell?!?" The boy laughed in the distance, rustling leaves slowly fading out of hearing. Only one thing was left to do- accept a possible fate. He had tampered with forces more powerful than his own, and he felt he must pay the consequences. In a single act, he released his stance and flew into the portal, falling onto the side of a railway.

Where am I? What was that? thoughts reeled through his mind. He stood up and saw, not 20 feet away, two white- haired people standing in the middle of a track. He glanced down; his attire had changed! He found himself dressed as an honored warrior from his homeland, his lunar pendant replaced with a thicker ring of divination beads. He felt extending from his spine nine individual limbs, swaying around.

What is going on here?!?

(( Writer's block corrected! And I wrote myself into Gresley's storyline! blaugh Two birds, one post! Heehee!))

[[I tried that, 'cuz it's happened to me before. It didn't work this time. No matter, I'm here now. mrgreen ]]

"Aisling."

Gresley's wings perked up, he noticed that the girl heard it too. He checked his watch, he was running late. The girl was looking for the source of the little voice.

"C'mon, I'll give you a ride to Dent. We can talk there," Gresley suggested.

She nodded, so Gresley led her to his engine's cab. Once the train was underway, Gresley began bombarding the girl with questions about herself, to all of which she answered, "I don't know." When they arrived at Dent, Runner and John hopped out of the engine's cab to find the passenger cars Gresley was to take back to Furnace.

"So you don't remember anything? Anything at all?" Gresley asked for the umpteenth time.

"I remember you asking me this already," she answered, a smirk flashing across her face.

Runner and John returned.

"We found them, four coaches in siding 15-NE," Runner said, pointing in the siding's direction. Suddenly, he heard a rustle, then the sound of running feet. He shot a look to his left, beyond the freight cars.

"What??" asked the girl, looking behind her.

Runner turned back, "Nothing. I could've sworn I saw some kind of fox tail, but there are no foxes in this region." [[could it be a Horyoku? hmm...]]

About an hour later, Gresley had refueled his steam engine, collected the passenger cars, and brought the train to Dent's station. John was on the station platform, herding the passengers into the train. Gresley knew he didn't come here for this, but he had other things on his mind. The girl was pacing the platform, watching the brightly clothed first-class passengers boarding the train. Gresley was sure she was Freckles, but how could he get her to remember?

It was dark by the time the train left Dent. Thick clouds of steam rose and swirled above the group's heads. Runner had curled up in the coal tender and fallen asleep, he was snoring. John and the girl were watching the sky.

Fog had fallen, the sky was no longer visible. John continued to watch, as if he were expecting something. In a flash, they entered and emerged from the tunnels into the city of Furnace. Smoke still rose lazily from the factory chimneys. The girl stirred from her slight daze to look down on the city. Then she remembered that she was afraid of heights and hastily scooted away from the cab sides.
Furnace looked even gloomier at night, with its flickering orange streetlights and dimly lit windows.
Gresley's was the last train of the night, so the cavernous Central Terminal was eerily quiet. No trains coming in or out, no passengers bustling around, no station staff grunting as they lifted over-sized trunks into the baggage compartments. The train stopped and the few passengers disembarked. John woke Runner, and both left to check Gresley's schedule at the railway's offices. They returned quickly.

Runner ran back, looking excited. "You don't have another train for four days. That gives us time to look around! But...where will we stay?"

An awkward silence ensued.

The girl was the first to speak. "Didn't you say you lived kinda near here? In a mansion?" she asked, turning to Gresley.

Gresley's wings drooped, he hadn't expected them to want to stay in such a dismal city. "Well...I guess-"

"YESNESS!!" Runner exclaimed, punching at the air.

Their walk to the Toombs House was very unpleasant. Night is when the weirdness comes out to play. A woman, dressed in toilet paper underwear, danced about with a ribbon. A man walked past, backwards. "Od uoy od woh?" he asked, tipping the dog bowl on his head. Runner found this all rather amusing.
Gresley was thankful that his street came up, nobody but his sisters and he ever walked down it. 5,075th Street the street sign read. The street was cobblestone, like the others, but this one was rougher, less maintained. The crumbling factories, warehouses, and empty shops lining the streets were home to nothing living.
The group reached the end of the cobblestone road and the buildings, the street continued up a hill as a dirt road lined with dead trees.

"Gresley... *pant pant*...Are we *pant* there *pant* yet??" Runner asked after about 45 minutes.

"...yes," he responded.

They had arrived at a pair of tall, menacing wrought iron gates, beyond which the group could see tombstones littering the front lawn of a very old Victorian mansion, looming tall and menacing -like the gates- overhead. Gresley led the group along what some could call the house's driveway, past a dry fountain, and to the tall front doors. He opened them with a very audible creak, and motioned for the shivering group to enter. Then he closed to doors behind them.

[[There we go. 4laugh ]]

Runner and John looked around, checking for any sign of zombies, luckily they found none, nor did they see any sign of zombies taking chase, however the zombies apparently were getting smarter.

Runner: "Looks like nothing bad has happened so far."

Runner couldn't help but feel like they weren't entirely safe though, what he was about to hear would shock him more.

John Marston: "I was dead once..."

Runner: "Dead? What do you mean?"

John Marston turned slightly and said,

"I used to be a zombie...I had reverted back to my living form though by some means...I'm glad to be alive again though."

Runner nodded before tripping over a pool ball that laid casually on the ground, he wasn't dead though, just unconscious. John turned to everyone and announced,

"He's still alive, he's just got a bump on his head."

The bump was minor, but Runner's head was bleeding.

John Marston: "Lovely."

The pale girl stood in awe of the house, wondering how it was possible for something so elegant and amazing to exist.

"This is really amazing!" The pale girl remarked turning to Gresley with a wide smile.

Gresley, though could hardly return the grin and only nodded. His mind appeared to be elsewhere, and the girl could have sworn she heard him mutter, "Aisling." This, of course, got her mind going as she thought about the voices she had been hearing lately.

Am I going insane? This boy, whom I don't remember anything about, claims he knows me and claims he knows my name. He asks, don't you remember BOO? But what is that? Is it some secret organization? A camp, perhaps? Or he talks about how I apparently died my hair for some reason and cut it short. Did I remember this? Of course not. I might as well trust him... He seems pretty confident that he knows who I am. But I don't even know who I am, so how could I possibly agree. I have already lost my memory and, on top of that, I'm hearing things. Fantastic. Aisling. Who is that? Or really, what is that?

Much to the pale girl's surprise, she heard a response:

"Who am I? Oh, child, you should not be asking this of others. You hardly know yourself. I know more about you than anyone does."

"Like what?" the girl said aloud.

Gresley turned to her, with an odd expression.

"Oh!" she started. "Sorry, I was just thinking about something..."

"Well, I do know that you are hungry."

Oh, and those words were too true. The white-haired girl closed her eyes and sighed, trying to forget her need for food. But, like when you tell someone not to do something, of course they do it. All she could think about was food. But not normal food...

"Oh shoot, Runner. Why do you always get into trouble?" Gresley replied to John's announcement. Gresley put his hand on the girl's shoulder, saying, "C'mon Freckles, Runner could use some help."

The girl turned to see Runner on the floor, completely knocked out. John was standing next to him, hand stroking his nonexistant beard, wondering what to do about this situation. Gresley was trying to shake Runner awake and make sure he wasn't losing to much blood.

Blood. The girl's stomach growled. NO. Stop thinking about it, stop thinking about it, stop thinking about it. She took a step closer to Runner, hoping she could help in some way. Blood She forced herself to take a step back. So much blood. It was beginning to stain the wood floors. There is oh so much blood. NO. I need to be normal, I have to control myself. But there is SO MUCH blood. NO. According to Gresley, he's my friend. They are all my friends. But I'm so hungry...

The blood gushing from Runner's head slowed down as the blood feared that Freckles would drink it, in a cartoonish fashion, the army of heavy blood chanted,

"Retreat!!!"

And so Freckle's freaky behavior stopped Runner from bleeding from his head, the problem now was the gash across his forehead was sewed up by the blood which feared Freckles getting to it, this plan seemed to have worked...not that it was intended. John Marston watched this in shock.

John Marston: "What in the-? What the hell was that?"

Runner woke up and saw the figures staring at him, he had heard his blood fear and curse at her under his skin.

Runner: "Note to everyone, never allow her to draw blood, she will only scare it."

John Marston: "Boy ain't that the darn truth."

The girl's stomach growled ferociously, as Runner's blood retreated. She blushed, embarrassed that she could hardly contain herself.

"I-I'm so sorry... But I need to eat something..."

Runner cocked his eyes at Freckles as she said that, he then questioned,

Runner: "What are you? A vampire?"

John Marston shrugged, he wondered what was going to happen around them, Runner looked around and noticed a bunch of pigs with rat tails moving around, of course this was an hallucination induced by his blood moving throughout his body.

John Marston: "Well go drink some rat blood or something! You can't drink human blood!! We got to survive here!"

PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:41 pm

Freckles thought for a moment, and then spoke,

"Vampire? I don't think so. I don't burst into flames and I'm not the freaky type that sparkle (gag). Also, as far as I know, vampires don't eat the remains; only the blood. If you want, I could go into detail..."

The pale girl tilted her head and smiled, displaying a row of razer sharp teeth. All three boys slowly began to back away.

"Don't worry," she started, "I don't bite."

They didn't look too convinced.

"No really. I don't. Or at least, I won't... Trust me."

With that, she grabbed a small rat. I can't believe I'm resorting to this...

Watching the train pull away, I began my trek toward the city up ahead. Night fell before I reached the entrance, and I found myself increasingly weary. the air began to get to my lungs, and I found myself gagging briefly, coughing from the atmosphere change.

I have to find somewhere to stay... I thought, drawing my sword and leaning on it like a cane. I stood up straight to examine it; the blade had a brilliant sheen to it, but there was a certain... ominous... feeling to it...

"What happened to change my appearance so drastically?" I held the blade at it's hilt and the blade; it shimmered with a strangely dark presence. "Strange", I said, sheathing the blade once more and trudging onward down one of the smog- covered streets of the city. The street lights flickered as if a child somewhere was flicking the wall switch they were connected to. The streets were dull, lifeless, sans the occasional rat or stray cat roaming the sidewalk. One came up close to me, rubbing against my leg. My tails began to sway in rhythm with my feline friend, and I picked it up briefly to pet it. It leaped off my shoulder, scurrying off into the dark.

I came to the station at the end of the tracks, and sat on the edge of the terminal platform for a minute. I heard absolutely nothing, except the steam shooting out of the exhaust pipes of the factories surrounding. The city looked much like a large factory, for all the structures seemed to be for the sake of saving as much money while still having structure. I stood up, and proceeded to the entrance of the terminal.
