Jason just ran on blindly, totally in scared-out-of-his-head mode. With each closer shout behind him he tried to run faster, go further, but Mana had the advantage here: this was where the guy--the Selkie had been born and raised. Jason was still very much a stranger to this land. And then he heard his name shouted right behind him just before Mana tumbled and took them both down, the brown haired male struggling against the larger one a bit before stopping: exhausted emotionally and physically. Jason panted and gasped for air as they lay entangled, Mana refusing to let go of him and Jason vaguely wondering if he was going to get eaten or killed or whatever though the blond's apology kinda lightened that fear. Kinda.
"You turned ... into ... a ******** ... seal ... what did you ... expect?" he huffed back, wriggling weakly and trying to get free again for a moment but Mana still wouldn't budge so Jason just gave up pretty quickly. but then finally noticed the other's ... state of dress. Which was to say nothing at all besides the skin which was barely covering the other's lower bits. Luckily his heart was pumping too fast and face already red from running so his blush didn't show too noticeably at first. But damn no wonder folks were said to be willing to hide pelts to keep a woman or man their spouse indefinitely ... Selkies were hot. Or, at least, Mana was.
Jason averted his eyes as they both caught their breath, blindly moving his arm to try and hit Mana's side with a huff at the other's words. "So what, you think people should believe every myth or fairytale their told just because of coincidence?! ******** man ..." Jason sighed heavily and put an arm over his eyes. "I won't run, okay? So get your buck-naked a** off me. Before I kick you where no guy wants to get kicked," the brunette threatened lowly and seriously, waiting for the other to let go before sitting up and checking his poor abused backpack (if just for an excuse not to look the porn-star's naked way).
"So. You're a seal. No wonder you're so chubby ... and treat freezing water like a pleasant afternoon swim ..." Jason said the last bit quietly, just trying to digest this ... craziness. "******** ... just ... just put these on for god's sake," Jason grumbled, pulling a pair of pants out of his pack and holding them out blindly Mana's way, still not looking at the other. It was hard enough not getting sexually frustrated without indulging in sexy naked eye-candy.
Jason stood up and patted the dirt and foliage off of himself, turning to begin walking back the way they'd come. He still had a lot of stuff laying around the clearing thanks to the wolf after all, and figured he had nothing better to do than indulge all this ... insanity. It was still tough believing it was real, though he'd seen it right before his eyes. Jason also tried to keep his distance from Mana, as if still highly uneasy ... but hey, it was an improvement from running away blindly, right?

"Oh. Right. Freaking a guy out is totally the right way to thank him," Jason sighed out sarcastically but without the heated anger a lot of his words had contained earlier. It was even half-joking almost, though when they arrived at the clearing and he was getting his things back he raised an eyebrow at Mana's comment about the wolf leaving a 'gift', frowning softly before sighing and getting back to getting his stuff gathered without comment. Once he had all his things in a pile Jason sat down, crossed his legs, and got comfortable as he got hew sewing kit out again to properly get his bag mended instead of the sloppy half-hazard job he'd shakily done before. As he worked though ... his eyes wandered. Wandered Mana's way, specifically ... all over the others body and especially at the very visible and near-godly a** in Jason's smaller, tighter pants.
When Mana commented and made it so obvious the selkie knew he was looking Jason's face lit up in a blush and he turned his gaze stubbornly back towards his work. "Sorry ... You might wanna put on your own pants now," he hinted heavily, before falling into silence a few moments, taking all this in.
"Look, you probably would've freaked out just as much if you'd been a mountain lion's chew toy too," he said sourly, deciding the 'wolf attack' was the easier subject.

Jason rolled his eyes at the lame 'yeah I guess' reply Mana gave. Sure, the other had seen most of his (thankfully toweled) body that one time and how he didn't have an obvious scars ... but that's what kind of good work some of the best surgeons in the world can do when paid handsomely enough. It was just lucky the femine hadn't gone for a bite to his face or neck. As it was he'd been torn open and raked all along his back and nearly died on that particular trip ... if it hadn't been for Vince finding him and scaring off the big cat well ...
"Just tell any of your wolf and predator friends not to do that, alright? Next time I might just kill it instead of keeping my cool," Jason said calmly and seriously. He had a knife and wasn't afraid to use it. He couldn't help his gaze from wandering to Mana's naked chest, damn it. The other wasn't chubby at all; he had the body of some sex god come down to earth. Not that the truth would stop the brunette from continuing to tease the selkie about his seal chubs.
Tying off the last knot on his pack, the thing finally looking good and fixed, Jason sighed and leaned back, looking up at the sky before turning his gaze to Mana's face. "I dunno. You going to get any weirder? I'm not sure I can handle any more weird secrets from you." Jason gave a shy little smile though at hearing Mana ... well, Mana said he had sincere feelings for helping him out. Jason was a glass half-empty type of guy and wasn't about to put his full trust in the odd not-human quite yet.
The brunette grinned teasingly. "Your life in my hands huh? Funny. You hardly ever listened when I told you to do anything. Like 'go away' for one. Does that make you like one of those derpy seals who isn't quite as bright as the others?" Jason reached out and ruffled the other's blond hair with an evil grin--but the hair was so soft! Like ... seal fur. Oh gosh. He was totally going to do this every chance he got.
"Poor wittle chubby seal. Even forgot his sleeping bag," Jason teased, because he was stressed and wanted to see the other all flustered. It was easier not to think of Mana was so damned sexy when they were arguing/teasing.

Jason was more than happy to abandon the task of fishing to start a fire instead and jumped on the chance the second Mana finally put forth the option, pride be damned. Because as Mana had noticed when they first met ... Jason was totally not the 'sitting still' type. The brunette liked to always be on the move one way of another, drumming fingers or tapping toes or wiggling where he sat. Something that was very ... not good when combined with fishing, which in most of its forms required still patience and non-jittery, smooth moves. Luckily dry wood was not nearly so hard to grab hold of.
Though when the pair of them finally got down to sitting together Jason rolled his eyes and pushed the face hovering over his shoulder away. "******** fish. I prefer my red meat and veggies anyway," Jason said trying to be all nonchalant about his complete and utter failure was he took the gutted fish and rubbed some herbs onto them and wrapped the fish around the rest of the leafy bits with the air of a man who was confident about his cooking skills.
Then he let the fish cook, leaning back and sighing thoughtfully. "So. Sleeping bag. You want to give up the pillow so we have a barrier between us or what?" he asked, gingerly pulling up the first two 'done' fish and handing one to Mana before getting the next two to cooking, beginning to carefully munch on his own and smiling contently at the taste. Yep; it seemed his fish-cooking skills weren't too rusty after all. Usually on hikes he didn't like to bother too much with herbs and flavors, just roasting a rabbit for himself or something, but they'd had a long day. "Because to be frank I'll probably end up dry-humping you again if there isn't anything between us."

Jason blinked as he chewed a bit mouthful of fish (carefully pulling the meat off of the still-present bones) and gave Mana a eyeroll while trying not to blush at the other's licking of lips. They were eating, licking lips was totally not sexual at all when you're eating, right? "Um. Dude. How many times have I already turned you down already? Anyway you're hot and everything, but I kinda really don't wanna do a ... seal." Jason's face scrunched up with clear turn-off just thinking about it. He was still absorbing all this fishy business and the thought of getting banged by a fat chubby seal was really not appealing at all no matter how damn sexy Mana was as a guy.
Putting the cleaned bones down in the pile to dispose of once they were done with all the fishmeat Jason took a fresh fish from the ones done cooking as well and dug in. "Oh! Perfect!" Jason eyes lit up and he turned a grin Mana's way. "You can just sleep as a seal! That totally won't give me a hard on! Good idea me," Jason told himself in clear satisfaction, eating more of his fish and chuckling.
"Like I could actually choose who I got hot over in my dreams anyway. Subconscious and all."
Though when asked if he'd hiked often Jason gave Mana a very long sigh. "Yes. Since I could walk I've been a hiker." Shouldn't all of his skills have made this fact obvious? Jason certainly thought so. "Been doing it all my life every chance I could. My parents hated me spending so much of my time at 'trivial pursuits' but ******** them." The brunette shrugged like it didn't matter what his parents thought, standing once he'd finished a few fish and picked up the bones to bury before heading for the tent to turn in a little earlier than usual. "Well night seal-face. Come in whenever you wanna turn in," Jason yawned, more emotionally exhausted than physically. He'd only done half a day's hike after all. He slipped into the sleeping bag and snuggled off to one side of it so Mana could get in easy, though he didn't fall asleep completely right away.

Jason honestly had no idea he'd managed to insult the selkie, and to him the little jab was a random shot at him ... not that he hadn't come to expect such things from Mana and his kin by now. Calling him too skinny and treating him like some know-nothing tourist since Mana had first noticed him (which was already after he'd been there a week). Though the brunette didn't take the pillow between then as a snuff or anything; he'd been telling the truth about all this ... craziness being a turn-off. It was going to take more than less than twenty-four hours to get used to the truth of what the platinum blond was, that was for sure, no matter how bone-worthy his body was. Jason couldn't help but miss the warmth of waking up snuggled close to a warm, muscular body, especially with the way he was shocked awake. Groaning Jason pushed himself out of the sleeping bag and winced at how bright it was outside the tent once he made it out, giving Mana a sour look.
"Why'd you let me sleep in so much?" he asked honestly and bemusedly, hurrying to get his rolled sleeping bag secured onto his pack and pulling out a granola bar to munch on before following Mana on the trail. Jason hardly noticed the silent cold shoulder he was getting, just enjoying the walk as he woke up more. Jason was more used to traveling alone so the lack of conversation was more his norm, and the chance to avoid talking about the other's seal-ness was also a different sort of relief.
The brunette seemed to even forget Mana was there, smiling to himself as they walked along the riverfront back down towards the beach. It was going to be a hell of a long walk: basically a day and a half. And from the beach it would be another half day straight walking back towards town. And the whole day of Mana trying to cold-shoulder him Jason truly didn't even really notice, enjoying himself and his hike. Really ... Jason wasn't good at reading other people all the time. He'd told the truth when he'd said he'd spent most of his walking life hiking, away from other people and not really bothering to learn all the proper cues.
Though after that day of hiking it was more obvious what Mana was doing when Jason actually had to sit down and eat dinner with the guy, though Jason just shrugged by the end of it and heading to the sleeping bag first again, wondering what stick had gotten shoved up the other's a**.
This time Jason managed to wake up before a morning yelling-at, blinking sleepily into the barrier-pillow with no Mana on the other side, the seal already awake and doing whatever. The brunette stretched slowly inside the warm, comfortable confines of the sleeping bag before getting out of the comfortable space and the tent itself just as Mana was beginning to break camp. Jason grinned at being awake before the sun was finished rising and before Mana had a chance to squawk at him, though the other's lack of answering smile had him sighing before grabbing his bag and getting on with the day's hike to the beach. The hours passed slowly but comfortably for Jason, even in their silence. He figured if Mana wasn't going to bother telling him what the hell had him so bothered, he just wouldn't care about it. This was the end of their forced time together anyway.
Mana had his pelt and Jason had his local land to buy, and begin building on next spring. The seaman would go back to sea and he would begin living off the land with no one to bother him but the animals. Though until next spring he'd probably best find work with others living in the area who farmed and learn the ropes as best he could.
"Well here's the beach. I know my way back from here. Feel free to skinnydip or whatever; just try to hide your pelt better this time, huh?" Jason tried to be friendly as the dirt and shrubs turned into a rocky shoreline, gravel and sand shifting beneath their shoes. "Thanks for the free guiding. It was ... yeah." Jason shrugged because it'd been fun, frustrating, annoying, ******** frightening, shittily surprising, and at the end ... well, cold-shouldered.
The brunette turned and headed back to town, leaving Mana to his own devices. Jason was more than ready for a warm cooked meal to fill his stomach so the first place he went was the diner ... or towards it anyway.
He didn't quite make it before he heard someone calling his name in a familiar voice, half-turning before he was grabbed in a warm embrace and the musky smell of feline filled his nose.
"V-Vince--?!" Jason squeaked out as the tall man hugged him close and laughed a deep, rolling laugh. Vince was taller than Jason and well-muscled, black hair neatly trimmed and the delicious muscular form Jason was feeling was hidden beneath the black inner fur-lined leather jacket: the outside a slick brown leather and the inner lining a shirt-furred orangish-type of fur.
"It's about time you came back from your walk, my little wanderer! I've been waiting in this fishy town two days," the man laughed, letting Jason go and playfully ruffling the short male's hair, just grinning at the sputtering Jason had over his miraculous appearance. "You kinda suck at trying to cover your tracks, you know that? Plus you told me you were going to run off to Alaska. It was easy enough to follow the trail from their. Your parents as really throwing a hissy fit back down in Washington and the media's just eating this whole debacle up. Which is why I thought now would be a good time to 'disappear' with you for a bit until it dyed back down and your dad stopped trying to figure out how it has to be all my fault."
Jason's mind was reeling, still trying to come to terms with the fact his ex, who'd become his ex by refusing to abandon the creature-comforts of civilization to come up north with him, was suddenly very much here and real and warm, even if Vince forever smelled like cat thanks to the fact he owned like five of the little purring things back at home. "I--you're here--"
Vince smiled a little smile, rubbing the back of his neck as the cool wind blew. "You didn't think I'd let you disappear forever did you? Come on; you were heading for that diner right? Lets sit down and eat without you all dolled up like a pack horse," the well-groomed man said simply, putting an arm around Jason and leading him to the diner and one of the booths so they could sit down.
Jason was still more than a little stunned as he ordered some grilled cheese and fried for himself, Vince asking for a tuna sandwich. The brunette was glad for the mouthful of gewy warm food to fill his mouth and chew while taking in the fact someone rich and sexy from his 'old life' had followed him here, having never expected to see the cat-lover again after Vince had refused to come with him. Not the worst break-up ever but still one that had seemed final enough.
"Why ... are you here?"
"Well I said so, didn't I? To see you! I mean sure, I don't want to live up here, you know that." Vince leaned back comfortably in the plush booth seat on his side of their table and munched happily on his sandwich. Fresh tuna made these sorts of sandwiches the best in his opinion. "But I figured after two months on your own ... I mean I know I've been feeling pretty lonely after you left. Crackers and Peanut and Coco were so sad."
"Just because they lost a scratching post," Jason replied, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips at the reminder of the little hairballs. Even though Vince was totally trying to get into his pants.

Mana was pissed off for a while then he cooled down, still didn't want to talk to Jason however. Let him figure it all out on his own if he was so smart. The next day didn't go any better with his brush off. Really! You'd think by how hard he had been flirting before, even if it was to tease, the lack of would alert some people! Jason must be dense, Mana decided.
By the time they got to the beach he was actually glad to get a little alone time that wasn't filled with awkward silence. This time he didn't ditch his pelt far off he stuffed it in his bag and went for a quick swim. It was only after that did he head back towards town, the Raven on his shoulder to keep him company still.
Meanwhile in town Pearl was working as a fill in at the diner. She had been in the back on break but when she returned to the floor she saw Jason with a super sexy guy! No way! He just got back from a super hot date with her big bro and he was cheating already! Uh-uh! Not on her watch! Flipping her long blonde hair over her shoulders she pushed out her amazingly double-d chest and strode up to their table, little tablet and pen ready.
"Can I get you anything else, Jason?" she asked in a sticky sweet voice and plastered on a smile. "I thought you just got back with Mana.... Where is he?" she asked politely enough then glared over at the other man and sized him up. Besides being the polar opposite of Mana in color they looked to have the same build. "Che..." she sniffed at him and looked back over to Jason with a judging look. "You didn't just run off and leave him all by his lonesome did you? How mean! After all that?" She sighed dramatically. She was so telling Coral about this! Cheating already?!
As if summoned by her sister's thoughts there was a tap-tapping on the window and Coral waved frantically at her sister not seeing Jason at first. When she did notice him she pressed against the glass, boobs and all, to get a better look. At first she smiled but it fell when she noticed tall, dark, and handsome. Gasping she pointed at the man and looked to her sister who shrugged back. "Cheating already." She mouthed/whispered.
"Well, if you need anything," she looked at Jason with a bitter smile,"please call okay. Someone will get you what you need." With a spin on her heel she scurried off to gossip with her twin. Everyone in town adored Mana for being so sweet, if they heard Jason had dumped him already he probably would get a few frowns. Then again Pearl and Coral said a lot of things.
