[Hiker]

A hiker? That would do.

Still hidden among the trees KO released Duke from his pokeball and made a few meaningful hand signals to his long-time pokemon partner before striking out for the path while Duke remained behind, concealed by the undergrowth.

When KO wandered into sight out of the trees he was texting and muttering to himself, a frown of displeasure creasing his brow. After hitting 'send' he looked up again and caught sight of the hiker. "Oh!" he blinked and raised his shades. "Hi there, you haven't seen anyone else on the path have you?"

[KO]

"Certainly did, boy-o!" the woman replied, oblivious to KO's expressions or body language. "Passed quite a few headed in the opposite direction, and passed a few Slowpoke heading in the same direction as myself as well. It's a lovely day for a hike, after all!"

A warm, sunny spring day... Sync couldn't help but wish the training mission was in the evening or at night, but unfortunately those weren't exactly options for this sort of training exercise. Who would want to wander around at night in the middle of no where? When the van slowed to a stop and the leader - elite; he'd have to remember the various ranks - disembarked, the green-haired trainee hopped out as well and stepped into line with his colleagues, his posture comfortable despite standing tall with his back straight. He glanced around at the others gathered in line, and he introduced himself readily and in a clear voice when it was his turn to do so, "Trainee Sync."

He glanced down as Rook walked by, faintly amused by her short stature, but mostly focused on her words. As a new recruit fresh off the boat from Grande Ile, he knew little of pokemon and cared even less for them, and as yet still didn't understand their usefulness or just why people seemed to care so much for them. He wasn't about to argue with their objective to steal some though, so he readjusted the thin hoodie he wore over a plain shirt, pants, and sneakers in his favored color scheme of black and green, and set off through the woods away from the others to find his own target. His sole pokemon remained in its pokeball in a pocket for the time being, while a handful of empty pokeballs sat in the other pocket. For the time being, he opted to stick to the cover of trees rather than remain out in the open.

[Hiker]

Pick a man, any man! "How about a guy about this tall?" KO gestured quite some distance above his head. "Silver and red hair, real spindly? He was supposed to meet me for our walk but I couldn't find him at our meeting spot, so either he's late and still further down the road or he didn't wait for me! Ugh, that would be just like him. Chad." It would really annoy Star to be dubbed Chad and that gave him a warm glow of satisfaction.

Pulse made sure not to lead the Beauty back to the van as he strolled up, not victorious but not causing a scene. He would return to looking for a target after he healed his pokemon. "Failure... they were in her hair, and then one ended up down her bra and the others in her hand and just counted it as a loss." He said as he opened the door and retrieved his pack, opening it to pull out his poke-block kit and a few oran berries.

He gave a block to both his Ariados and Joltik before calling out his Sneasel and gave her the berries and a block.

[Sync encounters Fairy Tale Girl!]

A petite girl, her dark hair all in curls and her clothing bouncing with layers of lace and frills, walked along, absorbed in the fashion magazine she carried in her hands. Foreign pop music played from her pokegear, and two pokeballs swung upon a ribbon attached to the device.

[KO]

The woman gave a long, thoughtful hum, her brow knit in intense concentration. She then put on an apologetic smile and gave a large shrug, "Nope, sorry to say it doesn't ring a bell. I wouldn't chalk him up as a no-show yet, though; he could still be back a ways on the trail."

[Pulse]

Rook looked to the Rocket grunt and his pokemon as they returned. "Well, what's done is done," she said after a moment. "Humor me for a minute, if you will: Pretend those pokeballs were of massive value to the organization. Pretend going back without them was absolutely unacceptable. If that were the case, how would you have handled it differently - starting from the point where you decided to call it a loss?"

Pulse paused in his rooting for a water. "Absolute? Joltik to fry the butterfree with a electric attack and Dragonair and Serviper to contain the trainer while I take them. Sneasel icywind to cover my tracks. But, I'm not running a true solo mission cause there is a lot of trainers out here and a lot of our folks and I wanted to not cause a mess at the moment." He was working on stay undercover and don't ******** that part up.

He shoved the pack back under his seat and stood. "Going to go back out and see if I can find a other trainer to attempt a take. If that is alright?"

[Frilly Fairy Tale girl]

...well, so much for needing to stay hidden to avoid being noticed. What with her nose glued to some magazine and some sort of music playing, he briefly wondered if he even needed to hide at all. The brief moment ended as he erred on the side of caution, opting to remain out of sight for the time being until he had a bit longer to assess his target. He quietly skirted around trees and bushes to get a bit closer to see better without being seen, mostly looking to see how the musical device was attached to her person. Perhaps he could pilfer the whole thing and pull the balls off after, though if that proved too difficult then at the very least they only seemed to be attached to a simple ribbon. Maybe she'd be so distracted, she wouldn't notice him sneak up behind her and just take them off quietly, though he doubted such a plan would actually work. She couldn't be that engrossed in her magazine and music, surely.

"Three of the most valuable tools available to you as a Rocket are stealth, deception, and silence," Rook said. "The ability to get the job done without anyone knowing you were ever there, the ability to lie to someone's face without them questioning your legitimacy, and, when all else fails, the ability to do what needs to be done without making a racket. Your plan of action might work, but it runs the risk of the Butterfly possibly surviving the hit and taking out all of your non-Insomnia pokemon - and you - with its Sleep Powder. Plus, as you mentioned, the noise factor, as it's not likely she would have quietly allowed that to happen to her, and the added drawback of your face becoming known to a League trainer." She paused for a moment to glance at her screen before continuing, "In situations like this, there's rarely a surefire, zero risk way to accomplish your objective, but I can think of at least one course of action that's less uncertain than that. Reflect on that while you look for your next target. Dismissed."

[Sync]

The pokegear was attached to the skirt of her dress, either to a pocket, to a loop of fabric, or to the cloth itself, and earbuds extended from the device up to her shoulders where they lay draped around her neck, out of use. She turned the page of her magazine, walked on for a few more moments, then glanced up and looked around. Her eyes fell upon an old downed log, and she made her way over to it and seated herself with a sigh, producing a bottle of flavored water from somewhere within her clothing and unscrewing the cap to have a drink.

[Fairy Tale girl]

Sync continued quietly navigating through the foliage, watching closely as she sat down and pulled out a drink from - where'd she pull that from? What did she keep in that poofy dress of hers? Whatever. Either way it appeared she wouldn't be leaving for at least a few minutes - or so he assumed, anyway, because who would sit down only to get back up right after - so he silently snuck closer until he was a ways behind her, still hiding among the trees. Hmm, what to do, what to do... It likely would've been a bit easier were she wearing the earbuds, but it seemed easy enough currently - too easy, almost. He shrugged off his dark hoodie and laid it down on the grass before he crouched down and crept forward a bit more, waiting until he was directly behind her before shifting to lay on his stomach on the grass to keep himself as low as possible among some bushes, hoping that, coupled with his green hair and dark green shirt, would sufficiently camouflage him for at least a bit. He paused before continuing, glancing up at the dark-haired girl to see if she had noticed him yet - or if she could notice anything besides her music or her magazine.

[Off Duty Officer]

She sighed and then looked at the officer with a bored expression on her face. At this point she was fed up and decided to take matters into her own hands before the target got away.

She threw the pokeball as fast as the man could blink. "Target locked. Oktavia hydro pump!"

She leapt back as she started the battle. She was wasting time and this is a training session. A Team Rocket member could come any moment and evaluate her. If she doesn't take care of this target soon...she may never get to be a grunt.

[Legretta - seeking a target]

Mindful of the high ponytail securing messy blonde hair, Legretta stepped out of the van behind several other Rockets. She bowed her head both to avoid the door sill and to shield her eyes from the sun. It was a cute clearing, almost idyllic. Kind of weird to think that they would be doing any training that didn't involve merit badges or a spirited hike.

The Elite Agent's gaze made her feel ridiculous - and not just because she was being scrutinized by someone half her size. Legretta found herself adjusting the plain red band in her hair and smoothing her shirt. She was only following orders, right? Even though plainclothes meant she made some unexpected choices: the white heart t-shirt, denim jacket and baggy jeans were the plainest clothes she possessed. They were a far cry from her fancier uniform.

"Legretta. Grunt." One day soon, she would be able to announce a less gutteral title. Legretta the Quick would be a name folks feared, and now was a perfect time to prove it. The woman lifted her chin and stalked into her trees, tracing her path toward the mountain as she sought out a target.

[Sync]

The girl crossed her legs at the knee and bounced her hanging foot to the music. She set her water bottle down on the ground and reached into yet another unseen compartment, this time pulling out a candy bar. She opened the wrapper and took a bite from it, setting her elbow on her knee and leaning her chin into her palm.

[Michiko]

Although the officer might not have been prepared to react to the sudden attack, his Growlithe pair were more than ready to respond. One leapt in front of its trainer and raised a Protect, parting the Hydro Pump harmlessly around them, and the other lunged at the Sharpedo from the side with a Wild Charge.

Quick to regain his bearings, the officer pulled his radio from his belt and quickly barked into it, "Code 14 in progress, due south of the trainer center approx. .3 miles! Requesting back-up!" Without missing a beat, he smacked the release switch on one of the pokeballs, prompting a large Arcanine to appear, and called to it, "ExtremeSpeed!" Complying, the dog pokemon launched forward with dizzying speed towards the Rocket.

Michiko's Rocket 'dex, wherever she had chosen to store it, would come alive with a transmitted voice if the volume was on, "Grunt Michiko, pull out - now!"

[Legretta encounters Cyclist!]

A young man wearing a helmet and standing beside a bicycle wiped his face and neck with a damp cloth, a Dewott standing beside him. He wore four pokeballs beside the supplies pouch on his belt. "What do you say, Dewott?" he said, wringing the water from the towel when he was done. "Should we go for another lap?"

The Dewott whined in exasperation, and its trainer frowned.

"Oh please, you'll be in your pokeball the entire time anyway!"

[Fairy Tale girl]

Well, so far so good. Silently he reached into his pocket and pulled out two empty pokeballs, then carefully - very, very carefully - Sync snaked his hands out towards the girl. He reached for the ribbon with one hand and for the pokeballs with the other, endeavoring to hold the ribbon up so that it wouldn't tug on the pokegear while simultaneously trying to detach the balls as quietly as he could, working with nimble fingers. If he managed to successfully pull off the two pokeballs, he would attach the two empty ones in their place so she wouldn't know anything was amiss.

The girl reached for her water bottle again, and as she did, something out of place caught her attention from her peripheral vision. Her glance was purely reflexive; she wasn't expecting to see anything noteworthy. And when that expectation was failed, she suddenly bolted upright, snatching her skirt away from the sneaking hands. "Hey! The hell do you think you're doing, you little punk?!" she exclaimed, abhorred, as her sudden movements knocked over and spilled her water bottle.
