"Odd?" He snorted. "It's not acting even a little like the Articuno..." After trailing off he remained quiet for a bit, preferring to think rather than speak - at least until he finished thinking. "Legendary pokemon generally are more violent and aggressive like the Articuno was, and not like.. this," he ended for lack of a proper term.

The juvenile pokemon seemed perfectly content to remain resting on Tambrey's shoulder with all the attention she was giving it.

You're too far out to tell. Once within range we'll contact you again.

"Mhmm. If we, uh, get this back to base without incident this might be the, well, um, the easiest legendary acquisition we've ever had..." Tambrey mused, troubled as she quickly sent back a confirmation to base.
//Understood.//

If petting and attention were keeping the baby death bird happy, then Tambrey was perfectly prepared to keep petting it.
"Ridiculously cute..."
It made sense to keep the powerful baby happy after all.

"Huh," was his only response as he fell quiet once more; that was certainly food for thought. Briefly his gaze flicked from the road to the rear view mirror, to the legendary in the backseat to be more specific, before he focused on the road again. Said road eventually curved off to one side towards Sandalwood, but Sync kept going straight towards the forest. As they passed through the lines of trees and the grunt slowed the vehicle to a more cautious speed, Tambrey's 'dex would receive another message:

We're not detecting any tracking devices. Status of subject?

"Ooh!" Tambrey was found herself very pleasantly surprised by the message she got, both because of the subject (no tracking device! another potential issue gone!) and because the very fact they were 'in range' to detect that meant they were getting closer and closer to being safely back at base with a baby legendary.

She turned to look at the little on as she sent her status.

Dark green eyes shifted to the woman beside him as she made a noise, then focused back on the path ahead of them again once she went silent. Silence was perfectly fine with him; it allowed him to concentrate better as he carefully guided the vehicle through the trees.

Feeling the difference in terrain and speed, the juvenile pokemon opened its large blue eyes and made a curious noise. Abandoning Tambrey's shoulder it turned to stick its head out the window instead, looking all around the forest surrounding them with renewed curiosity and a bit of excitement.

Copy. Contact again if it becomes agitated or violent.

Well curiosity and excitement weren't bad. They were not agitation or violence, and it seemed pretty unlikely the baby death bird could fit out of a window, so things still seemed to be going well.

Tambrey began to 'hum' and mumble-sing to herself, quite happily.
The tune might or might not have been familiar to Sync as (mostly) the chorus bits from Neon Pegasus.
She kept looking back to keep an eye on the puppy-bird.

If Sync recognized the song, he gave absolutely no indication, instead preferring to remain silent as he kept driving.

When Tambrey began to hum and sort of sing, the Yveltal pulled its head back inside and blinked in mild confusion. It suddenly thrust its head between the front seats and, once ascertaining the source of the noise, settled its head above Tambrey's shoulder and stared at her, enraptured.

"Nyah! Oh! Okay... Um." Tambrey was, again, startled, but offered some more petting to the death bird's head. Gingerly. "You like... humming? Hm?" She queried and then, experimentally, hummed the chorus part again.

At her humming the young pokemon cooed again, pleased and content, and settled its head on her shoulder once more.

Sync slowed to a halt in what looked for all the world like just any other spot in the forest and waited patiently, though didn't have to wait long before the grass parted and a door lifted up to admit their vehicle. Once it opened far enough, the grunt switched back into drive and guided the car into the mouth of the tunnel and downwards. The light slowly transitioned from natural to artificial as the door shut behind them and fluorescent lights flickered on overhead, but even then the Yveltal seemed perfectly happy to rest its head on Tambrey's shoulder and enjoy her humming. Only when they had reached the very end of the tunnel and drove through the garage door did the Yveltal move to stick its head out the window, though it only had other vehicles to look at. Only a few souls remained in the garage, and they were all clustered near the entrance into the rest of the base. Sync weighed the choices before thinking 'whatever' and drove over closer to them before he stopped and parked the vehicle - for now - and glanced into the back seat.

The Yveltal cawed happily at the startled Rockets nearby, still seeming perfectly happy and not even a little violent or agitated.

Tambrey wanted to squeal, to comment, something... all the way down the tunnel, but the death bird liked her musical habit and so she kept it up all the way until the bird seemed to gain more interest in the view out of the car again.

"Oh my frakking word we made it..." She breathed before opening the door to get out and address the Rockets nearby.
"Does anyone, um, have a containment ready? Ball, tank, anything? We, uh, brought back a stray..." She gave a sheepish grin and thumbed in the direction of the window with the baby Yvetal.
"Oh! We also have a fossil that needs lab transport, please?"

When Tambrey exited the car, Sync did as well, and for the first time the Yveltal showed some disquiet. It squawked unhappily and attempted to climb into one of the front seats to get out through there, but given its size such a feat proved impossible. It still tried, though.

One of the agents stepped forward, holding a pokeball out towards Tambrey with her arm fully outstretched, as if she didn't want to get too close. "Ah, a pokeball, yes - if that doesn't work then we'll have to, ah, subdue it and wheel it up somehow.." Neither she nor any of the other rockets seemed at all inclined to step forward to remove the fossil for proper transport with an Yveltal still in the vehicle.

"Uh. Thanks." Tambrey said with some amused sympathy. Not so long ago she'd been /terrified/ of this thing too, so she couldn't blame the other rockets for not wanting to get too close. She avoided eye contact with Sync for a moment. He was probably going to find this amusing or something... Or make some comment, she was sure...

She moved back toward the door with the open window but didn't open it /just in case/ the baby legendary charged off and started investigating, or worse, wrecking things around the garage.

"Hey? Hey! Look, look?" She called, bending over to look in through the window and hold up the pokéball. "Can, um, can you let me get you in here for a moment?"

Sync moved over to lean against the car to watch Tambrey, amused. Had he known her train of thought, he'd have said she was probably right.

When she approached the window again the Yveltal struggled to right itself in the back seat once more in order to shove its head out the window, making the vehicle shake a bit as it did so, and once its head was successfully sticking out the window again it cooed happily at her. The sight of the ball didn't elicit too much of a reaction from it, but it at least held still for her.

"Yes, yes... Good, uh, bird." Tambrey smiled at the incredibly dangerous baby legendary that was cooing at her and sticking it's head out of the window adorably.
Carefully, she offered a gentle but quick pet to the dark type's head and then touched the pokéball against the Yvetal, hoping to see it safely captured and contained beyond 'trapped in the car'.

The small legendary cooed happily at the attention she offered, and then when she tapped the ball to its head... Nothing happened. The only reaction she'd get was the Yveltal blinking its large, curious blue eyes at her.

"Ah.. It must already be registered to a ball then," one of the other agents said with obvious disappointment in his voice. "That means we have to transport it some other way. We do have carts large enough to fit it, I think, we just have to... get it into the cart to transport it." As he spoke, one of the other rockets jogged over to one side of the garage to pull a large, spacious cart away from the wall and back towards the car. It didn't look like it was designed to carry pokemon, but it at least looked perfectly capable of doing so.
