╔═══════════════════ Gannon knew the moment Thanya entered his office. He silently watched as she stepped inside and moved to the corner of the room, her hunched little form revealing how upset she was. While he didn’t like to see any of the students upset, he was glad to see that she understood the severity of her actions and the consequences that would follow as a result.
Still cradling Brageet to his chest, lightly petting her face with his fingertips as she dozed, he looked to Thanya and spoke. “Please come closer, Thanya….have a seat, if you will.” He said with a nod toward one of the chairs set in front of his massive desk. Once she was close enough, he spoke again.
“Thanya…in your own words, please tell me what happened yesterday. Begin from the moment you woke up, to the moment I brought you back to the dorms.” He needed to know why she had gone into the forest and what had happened to cause the incident. The offending item was still in his possession and if he was going to properly deal with it and its destructive power, then he needed to know all that he could about it.

╔═══════════════════ [ - Enter Gannon’s Office - ]
Stepping into Gannon’s office, Gin couldn’t help but sigh. This was not going to go well. Yes, he’d saved Thanya from the effects of the mysterious object, but he’d also broken the rules of the Academy to do so. In his book, the ends justified the means, but Gannon probably wouldn’t see it that way…Following Gianna toward the desk, he saw Thanya was already present, her demeanor just like his, Rin’s and Sokea’s - dismal.
Gin let Sokea and Rin take the other seats while he opted to stand behind them. Looking at Gannon, he felt a wave of guilt come over him at the sight of Brageet lying against his chest. Gin had no doubt that she’d likely been attempting to look for him and Thanya when the light had blinded her. Poor thing had been injured while trying to help. In that regard, any anger that Gannon felt was fully justified – he would have been pissed too.
Gin waited for Gannon to speak, knowing full well that the Headmaster would want to hear from each of them. Sticking his hands into his pockets, he did his best not to look to upset – that certainly wouldn’t help his case.

╔═══════════════════ Gannon didn’t like what he was hearing. Thanya had gone into the forest because her animal instincts had urged her to. He understood the need to be amongst nature – she was from the jungles of Mistun after all, it was in her blood. Thanya had been raised amongst the trees, so he could see why she would be confused as to why she should avoid them when she felt more at home in them than in her dorm room. If she had merely ventured into the trees around the perimeter of the Academy, Gannon would not be as upset as he was. But Thanya had ventured deep into the woods and that was unacceptable.
“I understand your reasoning, Ms. Kamsing. I too have a deep connection to the forest and have been disheartened to know that I cannot walk freely there as I once could. It truly pains me to have to forbid the students, especially the Shifters, from entering the woods. However, as you now have come to realize and see for yourself, there are things within the woods that can cause you great harm, even death, if you are not careful.” Gannon said with his authoritative yet understanding tone.
“However, your actions could have led to a catastrophe of epic proportions, Ms. Kamsing. If it were not for the fact that Gin, your TA, had seen what would become of you and acted immediately to prevent such a fate, we might have lost you.” He said with sincerity but firm authority.
“The fact that others followed Gin into the forest due to their concern wasn’t your fault, but again, small actions can have large consequences, my dear.” Sighing, he looked up as Gianna knocked on the door and entered the office with Sokea, Catherine and Gin in tow. Sokea and Catherine took the seats next to Thanya while Gin opted to stand. Looking each of them over, it was clear that they all felt dismal after the previous day’s event. To him, this was a very good sign – they knew that their actions would have consequences, which meant that a lesson would be learned from all of this.
“Good Morning, Gianna. Thank you for escorting everyone here…” It wasn’t hard to see that Gianna was very upset with her children. He didn’t blame her – she was very protective of her students and even more so for Gin and Rin now that she was their legal mother.
“Now, I have already heard from Gin and Thanya regarding why they entered the forest. Catherine, Sokea, tell me why you two entered the forest when you knew it was forbidden…” He said looking between the two, curious to see who would speak up first.

╔═══════════════════ [ - Enter Academy Area/Gannon’s Office - ]
All of this was connected – he knew it. The missing people, the murders, Otsanda…The Lord Marshal commissioning all of the weapons and gear from the artisans around the city, the incident with the light and now the missing evidence. Whatever the hell was going on in the forest and whoever was behind it had to have something on the Lord Marshall. Richard’s life had to be in danger, there was no way the man would betray the people of Eoana. Rey knew Richard to be a true, neutral party. He didn’t have any loyalties to Valor or Trendel and that was why he'd been perfect for the title of Lord Larshall. He had founded the City and seen it blossom into the gem that it was today - he wouldnt sabotage all that he'd built. There had to be some nefarious reason for his actions.
Rey’s head was a jumble of thoughts and very mixed feelings as he led Aldaine onto the Academy grounds. As he entered the premises, he was reminded that the balance of power at the Academy had shifted as well. There were always supposed to be court mages from both Kingdoms running the school, but with the arrival of the newest court mage, all three of the men leading the school were from Valor.
This little fact didn’t sit well with Reynard at all. Gannon had mentioned it at a previous meeting earlier in the year when he had warned Reynard that he might not be at the Academy for much longer. Like Gannon, Reynard had suspected that either Gannon or Lerato would be replaced…but it had been months and nothing had changed. One had to wonder how Trendel was reacting to the news…The fact that they hadnt sent someone here in a rage was suspicious in and of itself.
“Remind me to ask Gannon about the newest Court Mage at the Academy, Aldaine. I haven’t met the man yet but apparently, he’s extremely talented and has the ear of the King of Valor.” He said in a low tone as they walked the halls.
Approaching Gannon’s office, Reynard looked to Aldaine and gave him a small nod. “With any luck, we can talk to some of the other witnesses from the incident. I want to know what everyone saw…” Knocking heavily on the door, Rey announced who he was through the wood. “Headmaster Noble? It’s Reynard.” Not a second later, Reynard heard Gannon call for him to enter the room.
Opening the door and stepping inside, Reynard was surprised to see that Gannon was with students, but at the same time he had to wonder if these where the students involved in the incident from the day before…
“Pardon the intrusion, Headmaster, I came to ask you about the incident in the forest.”

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Aldaine De’Fraye
Aldaine remained silent during the whole trip to the academy, buried in his own array of thoughts. Previously, he had thought himself insane for thinking that all these oddities were connected. However, the more he thought about, the more it, somehow, made sense. All of these strange and unfortunate events all happening around the same time couldn’t have been a coincidence. No, to call this coincidence would not be mad, it would be blind ignorance and fear, a fear of being unable to accept that these were connected. However, the only obstacle that remained, was cold hard evidence, and now that evidence was gone. Aldaine’s mental fit of confusion may have blinded him earlier, but his mind was clear now that he had time to calm down and analyse the situation. Yes, these events, they were NOT accidental. There was…had to be an explanation behind all of this, such was a basic principle of reality, the law of cause and effect and whatever, or more likely, whoever was behind this needed to be found and quickly.
As the two shifters arrived at the academy, Aldaine was drawn out of his thoughts as Reynard spoke, asking the jaguar to remind him to ask about the newest court mage at the academy. Aldaine’s eyes narrowed at the mention of the academy’s newest arrival. Yes…that man… “Hmph, ‘extremely talented’ is putting it lightly. The man outright walked on air. If memory recalls, I believe his name is Rhysian Fuerlain De’Valaer . From what I remember, he’s Valor’s Royal Court Mage, so he definitely would hold a fair amount of political influence, if my experience and knowledge in politics is anything to go by.” Aldaine replied, remembering the absolute state of boredom that Trendel’s own royal courts put him in when he attended gatherings there. Come to think of it, if word had reached Trendel that Valor’s Royal Court Mage held influence over the academy, that definitely wouldn’t sit well with some of the…more extreme-minded nobles back home, the kind who are constantly suspicious of Valor every waking hour of the day.
As the two approached Gannon’s office, Reynard spoke again, stating that he hoped to speak with the students who were also witness to yesterday’s events in the forest. Aldaine gave Reynard a silent nod as Reynard asked for permission to enter. Within seconds Gannon had called the two in.
Upon entering, Aldaine found himself surprised that the students who were there in the forest when the incident too place had already been summoned to the Court Mage’s office. Well, at least this saved the two shifter’s a searching regime around the Academy. Aldaine simply remained silent and by Reynard’s side.
Aldaine took a gander at the Court Mage’s office. Needless to say, it was very well designed, the fine polished woodwork and stylishly designed windows said as much. But more than anything, Aldaine felt a calming vibe from the room. At least that was one good thing to encounter, given recent events. However, in an internal state of tiredness Aldaine thought “Gods, I could use a drink…”

~ Rin entered Gannon's Office ~
When they entered... She could feel the discomforting air in the room. Seems the girl wasn't the only one feeling it, Gin, Thanya and Sokea certainly seemed uncomfortable. Or at least, Sokea... Well, he seemed to feel differently. "Hello, sir..." Was all the girl could say to the Court Mage, her head hung low. She knew that regardless of her intent she was still in the wrong. Going into such a dangerous place... And for what? So she could WATCH whether or not her brother came out in one piece? What the hell would she have accomplished? Rin would take one of the seats and gaze up at the Court Mage, the fear in her face barely hidden in the shadow of her hood.
Then either Sokea or her were asked for their part. The male seemed impatient and spoke up during Rin's moment of hesitance. For a moment the words he spoke almost seemed relatable. Rin would not have wanted to sit and wait, knowing a loved one may not return. But... As he continued, that's when the Shifter felt her mood shift. The boy was starting to speak as if he was above the rule they had broken, and for what? Sure... It's human to care, it's human to want to try and help. But it should be just as human to still feel the guilt of putting themselves in danger, despite the warnings. Her mood shifted from despair to irritated.
Eventually she refused to hold her tongue. "Would it kill you to at least bite your tongue and take whatever he's giving us?" She rose from the seat and held her hands to her chest. "I know what I did was stupid. Sure... Maybe it was because I was worried, that I was scared for my own brothers LIFE! But just because it's human, doesn't mean it isn't irresponsible." Rin let out a sigh as she tugged her hood again, hanging her head low and returning to her seat. "I-I... I didn't see too much... I woke up after hearing Gin yelling and went to check on him. Next thing I knew he was running out speaking about how he may not come back. I... I panicked." She felt the tears growing in her eyes, blinking to try and stop them from showing. "I wanted to make sure he was okay. So I followed... Then we found Thanya. A-and..." Pausing, Rin looked over at her Shifter classmate. "Well... You know the rest... She had that... Thing. When my brother grabbed her and ran, I did too... And then it all went white." She then fell silent as her stare fell to her hands on her lap, tightly held together into a ball. It was clear at this point she had said all she could and wanted... Well. Almost all she wanted. The odd glare towards Sokea was all that would come from the now silent girl. Something about the male didn't sit right with her. Not quite an air of entitlement... But he at least lacked appropriate attitude when he's in just as much trouble as the rest of them. And to aim the blame straight at Thanya? While she was one of the main sources, it would be selfish to just say it was all her fault...
Shortly after she had said her piece, two more men would emerge from the entrance of the office. One was one of the guards, specifically the one that appeared in the forest yesterday. The other must be one of the higher-ranking guards... He definitely seemed to hold an air of leadership with him. But Rin would not even look at them and remained staring down at her hands, completely silent.

╔═══════════════════ Gannon could have done without Sokea’s attitude. What was it with students thinking they could come into his office and sass their way through a conversation? Did he need to implement corporal punishment to instill respect? No, he’d never harm a student, but given the fact that Brageet was wounded, crooning in pain against his chest due to the actions of a few wayward students, he was sorely tempted. Gannon’s gaze narrowed upon the blind boy with ire – Sokea might think he wouldn’t be apologizing for placing himself and others in danger, but he damn well would give an apology for his disrespectful attitude.
However, before anything could be said to that effect, Rin, who had been sitting quietly, jumped up to chastise Sokea for him. He did not blame her for her ire, he felt the same way toward the celebrar student at the moment. Gannon let Rin speak her mind but then he knew he needed to put a stop to these outbursts.
“That’s enough Rin…” Gannon said before looking to Sokea and shaking his head to warn him to remain silent. He let Rin finish the rest of her words as he kept his eyes on Sokea, his gaze stern. Once Catherine had explained her side of the encounter, he knew it was time to speak his mind and address the disrespect paid to him.
“You see, this is the very reason that the youth should mind their tongues and try to learn from the elders that attempt to teach them. Sokea, you’ve acted very foolishly just now, making assumptions and acting on them without thought or regard. Did you really think I hadn’t already perceived the possibility that you simply wanted to help a loved one, to try to protect another?” Gannon was well aware of the previous relationship between Gin and Sokea, they all knew.
“I asked you to tell me why you went into the forest to verify what I already suspected, yet you yourself decided that it must be for my own self-realized justification so that I could what?... expect an apology? If anything, I’d expect you apologize for your blatant disrespect, and nothing more!” Gannon said with a stern, angry voice. At that moment, sensing his anger and showing concern, Brageet chirped weakly, her usually vibrant eyes, cracking open slightly, to reveal a glimpse of just how much pain she truly felt. Gently stroking her feathers, he soothed her silently.
“I know you might be wondering why we are angry, why we are concerned, and worried. But you have to realize that everything we do is to try an prevent even worse possible situations from occurring. You say you would grab your friend to pull them from the ledge, I find it funny you haven’t considered the possibility that you would then be pulled over the edge with them…”Gannon said finishing up his point as he sat back, looking down at Brageet to try and calm his nerves.
“What then?” Gannon would pose the question, turning Sokea’s own words against him as he tried to point out what it means to look over not one or two, but an entire entity of people. Students, teachers, staff, hundreds of people at his discretion. Gannon and the rest would always do everything they could to protect them all, and so any scenario that could harm one, or many would always be of importance, and concern. “I do not fault you for wanting to save Gin, or anyone else for that matter, but you need to learn to watch that mouth, and give respect where respect is due.” He said with a firm tone – even if Sokea couldn’t see his face, he would know from his tone and inflection that he was not going to tolerate any more attitude. If Sokea was bold enough to try again, he would not like the consequences of his actions.
Hearing the knock upon the door, he called to whomever it was to come inside. Looking up, he realized it was Captain Reynard and the guard from the previous day, the one that had witnessed the event. Nodding at the two men, he suspected that Aldaine had told Reynard what had happened and the Captain had come to confirm the accounts of the incident.

▌ EYE COLOR: Deep Red (Blind)xx▌ OUTFIT: Regular and Gin's sweaterXX▌ LOCATION: Gannon's Office, near Gin and RinXX▌ PROFILExx▌ OOC: Sorry for a n g e r boi. His bluntness knows no bounds ;m; XX ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰ Sokea was aware that his words weren't going to be taken with a grain of salt, given the situation; however, he wasn't going to back down just because someone was angry by what he said. As Rin told him to hold his tongue, he had half the mind to tell her that his tongue is too short for him to see. But no one wanted to play the word games, they were all too boring anyway. When Rin said that what they did was irresponsible, he couldn't keep his opinion, no, facts, to himself. He waited for the young girl to finish before he decided to retort, However, before he could do so; of course Gannon decided to chime in with his ever-so entitled opinion.
These were the exact words he was expecting to hear; Sokea couldn't help but yawn as he spoke. Was his behavior dangerous and unnecessary? A bit, but just because he's a lord and a headmaster, he won't be respected by Sokea. And probably never again. There were so many things he wanted to say right now. Is it not the responsible thing to look after those you care about? Just because it's his duty to care about his students, he wasn't seeing any sign of it here. Seeing isn't really a common activity for Sokea, but this is the kind of sight he focuses on nearly all the time. Did Sokea unknowingly put himself in danger? Yes. Was it wrong? No. He's an adult, who cares for someone, and it was the responsible thing to go try and help him. Anyone who wouldn't of done this in his position is heartless. Much like Noble, in Sokea's eyes. He could've asked a more relevant question, without having to shove his authority on them. Sokea felt borderline rage at this point. There was indeed a more pressing matter at hand, but to be so concerned with Sokea's attitude, is just borderline entitlement.
Typically, Sokea has no care for nobles. They have their position, their ancestors earned it or whatever, end of story. Alas, Sokea hates those who brush their entitlement over others for the sake of entitlement. Did Gannon intend to? Most likely not. However, Sokea can't feel angered by this altercation. Calmly, and nonchalantly, Sokea began his retort. "You find it funny? Does it give you a good laugh, Sir Noble? Does your entitlement disregard logic so easily? Delightful how the one with the bigger horse only looks at the ground. What's the old saying? 'Tis nothing more narrow than a Valorian's perception, as long as one doesn't count his-" Sokea felt a sudden tug on his shoulder, Sokea switched to Gin's eyes and peered over. It happened to be Gin, his face telling him that he'll regret everything if Sokea finishes that sentence. Sokea felt a grim feeling of sorrow, seeing Gin like that. Sokea knew at this point that Gannon has more power than he does, and probably wouldn't mind laying down his hand just because someone didn't take his authority seriously.
Sokea sighed, he knew he said too much at this point. If Gannon could read his thoughts, it'd be even worse. Even though he stands by what he said, and isn't sorry for them, he knew he was wrong for dragging it out like this. Sokea heard two people enter the room, and shot them a glance. Two guards it would seem, and one wanted to talk about what happened in the forest. Knowing that they could probably read the mood, Sokea decided to not give the Headmaster what he asked for. Sokea switched his eyes back to their blind state, and positioned them to look directly into Gannon's eyes. In a quite obvious over-dramatic half-sarcastic tone, Sokea spoke. "I am deeply, truly sorry for my blatant disrespect to someone with such... Noble, blood, Sir Noble. Your position is not to be treated lightly, how could I not see your ever gleaming authority and care for the students you hold dear? Your... evanescent... position in this academy can't be dirtied by someone like me. I propose we can both agree that I was disrespectful and wrong, and have wasted our time. You won't see this behavior any longer, Sir Noble." Sokea's tone switched to a more sincere one half way through, even though he didn't feel sincere at all. He doubted Gannon would actually do anything. Would he really expel a Trendelian student for opposing a Valorian noble, with the tensions that each court mage at the academy hails from Valor? Sokea isn't really prideful of his country, but he certainly will paint that narrative if he needs to. It probably wouldn't be convincing, but people tend to see what they want. Sokea knows this all too well.

╔═══════════════════ While he understood Sokea’s frustration, he did not think that giving Gannon, the Headmaster of the Academy, attitude was the best course of action. They were all in trouble and would likely all be punished, the last thing that they needed to do was give some snarky, sassy attitude to make matters worse than they already were. But, Sokea was someone that spoke his mind, therefore…trouble.
Gin shook his head at his former-lover’s words. Even Gin knew that even if you didn’t like or agree with a Lord, Noble, or someone in a position of authority, like Gannon, that you didn’t talk back like that. To his utter surprise, Rin jumped out of her seat, literally, and chastised Sokea for his words. He had to agree with his sister – Sokea might not like where this was going, but his actions had consequences, even if his actions were noble in nature and intent.
Gannon had every right to order the city guards to haul Sokea off to the jails for his blatant disrespect, but to his relief, Gannon tried to talk a bit of sense into Sokea. To his credit, Gannon agreed with what Sokea had done – going into the woods to help someone he cared about. To know that even though rules were broken, that Gannon supported the intent behind Sokea’s actions, it meant a lot to him. It also told him that Rin would likely receive the same understanding, give that she had followed him out of concern as well.
He turned his attention toward Gianna as she spoke. His ears turned back and pressed against his hair. She was right, times weren’t like they used to be, and they needed to consider their actions every step of the way. Students were disappearing. In his mind, no one was safe. Looking back down at Sokea as he began to speak, he released a heavy sigh.
Any hope that Gin had for Sokea getting off lightly flew out the window when Sokea threw even more snarky remarks back in Gannon’s face. Reaching out, he placed his hand firmly on Sokea’s shoulder, gently squeezing it in warning. As Sokea turned to look at him, Gin gave him a look that could clearly be interpreted as a warning. Luckily, it seemed that Sokea had received the unspoken message, a look of regret entering his gaze as he turned back around.
While Sokea’s ‘apology’ left something to be desired, and while it could have been sincerer and less sarcastic, Gin was glad that his ex-lover had at least attempted to apologize for his behavior. Shaking his head a little, Gin remained silent. If Gannon wanted him to answer questions, then he would, but until then, he’d remain silent.
Looking toward Captain Reynard and the guard who had been present in the woods the day before, he frowned. It seemed that the Captain had come to discuss what had happened…

╔═══════════════════ You could cut the tension in the room with a knife. All of the students, aside from the albino boy, looked regretful of their actions. He was glad to see that they were remorseful – given what he’d seen in the woods and what he had heard from Aldaine, they had all put themselves into mortal danger. Whatever the hell was going on in the forest…it was life threatening and these kids had faced it head on. Luckily, they’d gotten away unscathed, but that wasnt bound to happen again.
Stepping toward the desk, he looked at each of the four students. Many of them wouldn’t meet his gaze, but the older boy with the dark skin and silver hair gave him a small nod of acknowledgement. Looking back to Gannon, Reynard gestured to Aldaine.
“Aldaine and I have just come from the forest. Upon inspecting the site where the incident took place yesterday, it seems that the evidence has been…destroyed.” The looks of surprise and confusion on everyone’s faces told him that none of them had returned to the area since the flash of light had appeared.
“Aldaine described the area as warped, caught between life and decay…but now, the patch of forest, all of it, has been completely cleared away as if there had never been anything there to begin with.” To find no trees, so shrubs, not even twigs – no evidence of vegetation of any kind, it was unnatural.
“Gannon, please, tell me what you witnessed in the woods. I need to confirm what Aldaine told me.” Reynard stood and listened as Gannon reiterated nearly word for word what Aldaine had already told him. The description of the woods, the life and decay warped into one, the twisted vegetation that had seemed so unnatural and alien…it didn’t make sense. Who could have removed the evidence? How could they have removed the evidence? Whoever it was had to be extremely powerful…Could this be the same person who was influencing the Lord Marshall?
Looking over everyone in the room, he narrowed his gaze and frowned deeply. If Gin hadnt arrived in time to stop Thanya, she could have died. And if he had arrived even a few seconds too late, others could have perished as well. This was not an outcome that he wanted to risk happening again. “Listen all of you.” He said looking to the students and then to Gannon and Gianna, urging the last two not to interfere with what he had to say next.
“I have half a mind to take each of you students back to the barracks to spend the next week in the jails. While Gannon is more lenient when it comes to the actions of his students, I do not consider blatant disregard of the rules, no matter what the reason or intention, to be a valid reason to endanger one’s own life. While I am thankful that Gin was able to find Thanya in time to prevent what could have been a fatal incident, that could have resulted in the loss of all of your lives, I will not stand by and wait for the students of this Academy to blatantly endanger themselves again.” Reynard stated firmly, fully unaware of the previous confrontation between Sokea and Gannon.
“By order of the Captain of the City Guard, any student or civilian who enters the forest for any reason, without authorization from myself, Headmaster Gannon, or the Lord Marshal, will be taken into the custody of the city guard.” Looking over each of the student’s faces, he dared them to argue. When none did, he continued.
“In regard to this incident, I will trust in Gannon’s judgement regarding how each of you should be dealt with. But the next time one of you decides to go against this order, you will deal with me, and I assure you, I won’t make you write an essay on why you should follow the rules…”
