D: Something else (an UNDEAD SOUL which is totally not a monster guys we have to be nice to it)
Banshee had very much enjoyed collecting the kindling, with her new friends who were all lovely, and hadn’t laughed at her once when she’d dropped her pile of wood at least three times... or at least had giggled politely behind their hooves where she couldn’t see them. She was especially pleased with Torchwood, her response to his praise over her blanket was a breathy ‘thank yooooou’ and her internal promise to be his best friend 5eva.
“OooOOoo,” was her response to the green flames, as she parked herself down beside Torchwood. “Wanna share?” She asked him, innocently offering one corner of her blanket as various theories as to the forest creature were tossed around. What could it be? She also wondered, an idea squirming in the back of her mind.
“THE UNDEAD,” she hypothesized, once again interjecting louder than intended. “Some poor soul had been unable to rest.” Her eyes went shiny with unshed grief. “They wander the forest, waiting for us to find them and unbind them from this mortal plane.” She turned to look at the dark woods. “I WILL FIND YOU!” She promised IN A SHOUT that was very much meant to carry and probably deafened everyone nearby.

D: Something else (A big bug, hopefully a flying spider!)
By the time Spider got back to the center their little base camp, the fire had roared to life, and he watched with wonder as Miss Odd-Eyes made not just the flames, but the smoke too, turn a pretty green. Ok, yup, THAT was cool! Of course, the fire itself was extremely dangerous and could potentially burn the ENTIRE WOODS TO THE GROUND, but at least it'd look cool doing it. He made a mental note to ask her how on Gaia she did that later. What other colors could she make? Purple maybe? That would be wicked. Still the scariest thing out here, but still wicked. In the meantime though, he also had to give her mental credit for at least the intent of it all. Green smoke wasn't exactly a thing you saw in the woods, so it'd be easy to spot if you got too far off track. Oooo, would he get too far off track? A solo adventure did sound tempting… But, if that fire decided to get off track too, he supposed it was better he stick with the others to make sure everyone got out alive.
Taking one last anxious look at the fire -and reminding himself it wasn't fear, it was just good ol common sense-, he followed Miss Odd-Eyes out into the woods. Adventure time, at last! Spider thought again about what they might find… Was it a monster? Maaaaaybe… Alien? Highly unlikely, but then again, there was a babben among them that looked kinda like an alien. Maybe there was a logical explanation? Maybe it was, as he overheard one of the bigger phonies say, another breed of phony? Perhaps… Spider still liked to think it was a giant bug. Sure, they had a few bug-phonies on their trip, but none were very scary. Actually, the scariest thing he'd seen so far (not talking about the fire, nope) was a big white phony, who looked a bit like a bat despite his color. Bats ate bugs. Spider Eyes was NAMED after a bug. And he was -admittedly- little.
-gasp- What if it was a spider?? A flying spider, of course, since it was rumored to have wings… BUT WHAT IF IT WAS A FLYING SPIDER??? Ohhh he sure hoped it was! Unlikely, but ya know, a phony could dream!

D: Something Else - ( An Innocent Victim )
Crypt Keeper was appreciating their guide's approach to the whole ordeal the more she spoke. There was a lot of grandiose posturing going on, building up tension and curiosity -- the showmanship with the green smoke, while it had a utilitarian purpose, was still very much part of an act, as far as he could tell. Crypt sighed a little at all of the speculations flying around. Whatever, whoever, was out here, it was less likely for them to actually be something fearsome. The sightings of it never described violence.
"It probably just wants to be left alone," Crypt said aloud, though he was unsure if anyone would hear over the excitement coming from other phonies. Miss Skirmish had the right idea, that they were just trying to observe, not disturb. "All of the attention might have scared it into hiding in the first place." He certainly wouldn't appreciate such a public eye full of misunderstandings trained on him.

C. Something with a perfectly logical explanation
It was probably for the best he didn't get a chance to catch something; no time to cook it over the (green) fire anyway. He wondered if that might have made it taste funky...
Rod in mouth, Hooked kept to the inside of the group, growing more nervous as they began their search in earnest. The mystery of it had drawn him in, sure, but learning what it was and actually meeting it were two different things. The rumors had been wildly speculative, but Hooked remembered something about coals for eyes and burning wings. While Crypt had pointed out it might just be a big misunderstanding involving a forest hobo (well, to paraphrase), this babby wasn't so sure. Phonies could exaggerate the stories, sure, but you couldn't make up fire out of nowhere, right? Heck, there were really weird phonies about all the time. Fire didn't seem that out of the ordinary. If this thing was letting itself get caught so much on Halloween? Probably a prank of some sort getting attention.
"Birdy?" he asked one of the others curiously, managing the word around the fishing rod.

D) Something else (abnormally large animal)
The theories were flying hard and fast overhead as they walked deeper into the woods, but all of them were just shots in the dark, really. For all anyone knew, it could just be a normal animal... or a really big version of a normal animal? That'd be weird. What would be the best animal to meet a giant version of? Maybe a squirrel or a chipmunk or something, they seemed really fluffy and nice. Oh, but what would be the worst thing to see a giant version of? Probably something that was already pretty big, or dangerous, or both. Bears, cougars, wolves...
Friend-Ship was so distracted by daydreaming about giant animals he almost bumped right into another phony's legs. Whoops! Better pay more attention, he thought.

B) Aliens
After bringing back the kindling, Torchwood was impressed with the fire that was made. Cautious eyes watched as Skirmish tossed a substance onto the flame. By instinct, he was ready to stop, drop and roll if the fire exploded. Pleasantly surprised, he relaxed seeing how the fire simply turned a pleasant green shade; he wondered how it was done. Was this magic or simple science?
Torchwood settled down by Banshee and Labyrinth. At the offer of the blanket corner, Torchwood happily accepted it as he scooched in closer. “Sure, we can be extra cozy too. Fires and blankets are perfects for listening to all these spooky theories.” Using his unicorn magic, Torchwood removed his sleeping bag from its carrying case and unfurled it across himself, Banshee, and extended the eyes out to Labyrinth and Muck as well.
As each said their theory, Torchwood nodded. “Sure, sure those all make sense. It could be any of those things. But, I think it’s a celestial entity visiting us. Have you ever seen an alien? They could be and look like anything or anyone. Who knows how a space creature could have evolved out there in the vast infinite cold of space. I’d want to come down to earth and hang out in the woods too. I mean... it could be a monster, or ghosts or a demon even. I won’t rule those out till I see it with my own two eyes... but a space invader seems so possible.”
