Jounouchi seemed fairly neutral to being at a shrine. Yes, the scenery was beautiful, but as a more 'normal' Japanese man, it was something he visited every New Year's with his friends, as well as for a few other occasions. He wasn't religious; he just stuck with tradition if it was something fun to do with other people. Shrines weren't special for him, but neither were they something he avoided.
Futata led the two into a private room, offset from the main shrine. It was a simple Japanese-style enclosure, with a tea table and a few other assortments for visitors. "Go ahead and take a seat." she gestured to the cushions around the table, starting to prepare tea.
Jounouchi sat down cross-legged on one of the cushions, waiting somewhat impatiently to get to their story.
((Sounds like a plan. I have absolutely no preference for how this event takes place, as long as it's a 'definite death avoidance.' Like nothing that the other could've possibly survived without intervention, because their pride would make them cling to that slim chance to avoid owing the other. wink As for who saves who, I could see it either way, mostly because of Kaiba. If he risks himself to save Jounouchi and/or Shizuka, it would be fairly out of character for him, and would leave both him and Jounouchi questioning his motives, but Jounouchi would undoubtedly feel a debt of obligation in return. If Jounouchi saved him and/or Mokuba, that wouldn't be out of character at all, but it would definitely hit Kaiba's pride more than the other option would hit Jounouchi's. In both cases, if the siblings were involved, that would up the respect level they would feel for one another.))

Seto mumbled a thank you as Futata placed the tea in front of them. He was more of a coffee person but didn't want to offend potential help. 'Well guess we should get to the point then?' Seto asked, turning to Jounouchi and hoping that there were no more pleasantries they'd have to go through before they could finally get to the point.
((Mkay, maybe the spirit will have a preference for events when the group is back together, I have some ideas depending on what it's off doing now. xd I do think Seto has been softening some so I don't think his pride would be as wounded, Jounouchi seems to have been slower to not be hurt/angry/mistrustful of him so maybe it'd be more of a punch to how the characters have been going to have him and Shizuka in danger. In generally I probably have too much fun beating on my own character anyhow, perhaps the tables turning would be good.))

Jounouchi nodded in agreement as Futata took a seat. He told her everything, as he had told Domon before, explaining what they had found out about it probably being a Shikigami (having Kaiba fill in parts he couldn't remember properly), and wondering if there was any way they could get rid of it without finding the Ommyouji.
Futata listened silently the entire time, her hands folded under her chin in thought by the end. She was frowning, tea untouched, "Shikigami can be very dangerous... and they're difficult to get rid of." she looked around, then closed her eyes, concentrating, "I have wards up around this shrine. They should be powerful enough to keep the Shikigami out of here at least, so it wont' be able to hear any of this. I don't sense that they've been broken at all." she noticed the boys were staring impatiently as she opened her eyes, "...I've never had to deal with a Shikigami before. I could look into exorcisms and see if there's one I don't know about, but I've never heard of them being exorcised before. I vaguely remember a ritual that can use a spirit to find the place it had been summoned at... that might at least help you find the summoner."
((Good to hear, I'm excited now to see how it turns out. XD That's a good point too. I think Jounouchi's been becoming nicer more quickly than Kaiba, but Kaiba's been letting his guard down more and not being as defensive. Jounouchi will act all nice, but as soon as there's anything even remotely threatening, he'll go back into defense mode (no pun intended). So that might help him trust Kaiba more. So okay, that works for me. =D ))

'I guess finding the summoner would be a start,' Seto suggested, after a few moments of silence while everyone absorbed what had been shared. 'Not that the summoner will be cooperative but they potentially would be another source of information. We're currently doing a search for who might likely be responsible but of course identifying who might have the ancestry connections to be involved doesn't give us a definitive answer. If you can give us the information about this ritual, and perhaps look into exorcisms while we work on that, I think that could be of great help to us,' Seto said, wondering what a ritual might entail. It was also nice to hear that the Shikigami couldn't touch them here, perhaps this is why he felt the overwhelming sense of calm within the shrine.
((Lol, all the pun!! And great, sounds good. smile ))

Futata nodded, "I'll do all I can to help." she smiled reassuringly, "This must've been hard on both of you. In all honesty, with the wards here, you would be safest staying here. It will take me a while to find where I've read about the ritual anyway, and even longer to keep doing the additional research on exorcisms."
Jounouchi looked at Kaiba, his expression unspokenly bringing up Shizuka and Mokuba, before turning back to Futata, "...would we be able to bring our family here? They've been targeted too."
"Of course." Futata smiled, "This place is a sanctuary to anyone in need. Are you two brothers?" she frowned as she thought it over, "...and the Shikigami is targeting both of you? I didn't even know that was possible."
((I honestly hadn't intended that pun until after I wrote it. XD Also, bringing everyone here would be a good way to get them back together, then maybe something could go wrong with the ward, or they end up leaving the shrine for some reason? Or with Shikigami already going back to target them, something could go wrong on the way?))

'No we are not brothers,' Seto said, 'we're, uh...' He wasn't sure how to finish that. They weren't friends. He had agree to a truce, he hadn't agreed to be friends. They weren't colleagues, they weren't classmates anymore. They were just too guys who happened to be experiencing a shared haunting. Why wasn't there a term for that?
((Oh you think you know where the Shikigami went huh? He he hee!!))

Futata was quiet as she watched Kaiba struggling for a way to explain them. She suddenly blushed, "Oh, um... I think I get what you're saying." she smiled nervously. That made sense, if they weren't brothers, but shared a family (at least that was what she had assumed from the way Jounouchi had worded it). "So you would... be bringing children then? How many people are we talking about?" she asked as she considered how many rooms and other necessities the shrine had available.

Seto was still lost in thought enough to not realise the assumption Futata made. 'I suppose we'd only be bringing Mokuba and Shizuka here,' he responded, 'our friends have been staying with them and they've been a bit in harms way but I expect that's only because they are around us.'

Jounouchi furrowed his brow, considering what Futata had said, but not quite getting it, so just shrugging it off.
Futata nodded slowly, "Shikigami have the power to target family and friends... whatever it takes to make you suffer..." she thought for a moment, "If you get your family out of the way, it might go for your friends instead, if that's the only option available."
Jounouchi paled, "...what if that's what it's doing now?" he looked at Kaiba, "Since we're safe here, what if it went after Shizuka and Mokuba?"

'We can't bring everyone here indefinitely, they have jobs, lives,' Seto replied, 'however, we can't hide here either then. It just puts everyone in danger, we'll need to hurry this up and make ourselves available to be haunted again. I'm going to call Mokuba though and make sure everything is okay.'

Shizuka hurried downstairs, surprised to hear someone knocking at the door so early. Hopefully it was her brother and Kaiba, back safe and sound. She swung open the door and gasped in surprise before cheerily greeting her visitor, 'Anzu, why what are you doing here?'
'Hello Shizuka, I ran into your brother and Kaiba and they filled me in on what was happening, I came to check on you. Are Yuugi, Honda and Mokuba still asleep, Honda did make it here safely I hope?
'Oh why yes he did, very late last night but safely. Yes everyone should still be asleep I don't think the door has disturbed anyone, we were all up quite late though. I can wake them though I'm sure they'll be happy to...umm, I'm sorry but my brother didn't tell me he was sending you,' Shizuka answered, starting to feel a bit uneasy. She considered Anzu one of her dearest friends and yet she could not explain the discomfort she was feeling at her unexpected arrival.
'Yes, I'm sorry about that I know this is quite sudden, look, I can't explain here and I really don't want to alarm the others yet, can we go somewhere else and talk, it's urgent,' Anzu announced gravely.
Shizuka hesitated, not sure if just leaving without telling the others was a good idea, but perhaps there was a dire reason for this secrecy and she didn't want to make a decision that could cause her brother harm. 'Yes alright, let me just leave a note,' she answered quietly, turning around to find her coat and a notepad.
'Oh gee, no, see I was hoping we could just go quietly, no notes,' Anzu said sadly, she reached into her coat pocket and pulled out a gun, pointing it between Shizuka's eyes. 'No, I think quietly and no notes will be best, you come with me right now and maybe those boys will get to wake up again, if not I'll have to make sure they're quiet forever. We don't want that now do we?' Anzu giggled, motioning for Shizuka to follow her toward an expensive looking sports car parked in front of the house.
Shizuka felt her heart stop, but she had no choice. 'Yes of course,' Shizuka murmured nervously, pulling on her coat and quietly shutting the door behind her. The pair moved silently toward the convertible, climbed in and sped off to where Shizuka couldn't begin to guess.

Seto pulled out his mobile phone and headed back toward the limo. He would have been loathe to leave the rare peace the grounds here were providing him, but knowing that Mokuba was perhaps in more danger because he was safe was enough of a reason to hurry and expose himself.
He put the phone to his ear, anxious. He wasn't one to trust gut feelings, but something felt wrong. 'Come on Mokuba, answer your phone,' he muttered.
((Yes I know you are Anzu, but spoiler, it's not Anzu! twisted ))

Jounouchi and Futata hurriedly jogged out with Kaiba, the former just as eager to put himself back into danger now.

'Mokuba, it's me,' Seto started hurriedly, relieved to hear his brothers voice. 'We've gotten a few answers and we are thining of bringing everyone home, specifically to a shrine but more on that later. Everyone is fine on your end yes?' he asked
((Anzu is mentally where I had sent the Shikigami when they got to the shrine even before we decided on the new plot element and then was inspired by a really fun way to still do that. twisted ))

"Yeah..." Mokuba yawned, "We're just waking up." he looked around the living room, seeing Yuugi and Honda asleep nearby. He assumed Shizuka was still in her room.

'Good,' Seto said, relieved to hear that all was well, 'get everyone together please, we need to discuss a few things and then talk about getting you guys back here. I know Shizuka wants to be by her mother but, well we will figure that out in a minute, just gather everyone.'

"Okay." Mokuba got up, starting to become more alert as he shook Yuugi awake, "Is everything still okay with you guys?" he went to Honda next, prodding him with his foot.
