Gold Sink
Since in the mp when you buy an item for millions, it just gets transferred to another user. With the obscene amount of gold people are able to make now, inflation has gone completely ridiculous.
Since only the richest can buy these items, they'll be icons of wealth, and they're the most show-off-able items since they have a very high set cost, they'll get millions of gold out of the economy, and hopefully stabilize it a bit more.

Thought it was meant to be a gold sink
but wasn't expecting people to actually buy those things until I saw someone at GCD wearing them
the announcement did say the prices might change, people just can't wait for stuff to get cheap eh
