And they charge it because it sends a message to every person in a guild. They don't want people spamming a bunch of stupid crap, so there's a charge per person in the guild.

yeah, in my pathetic little pokeyman guild that's been dead for quite a while now costs me 100 or so to send to 138 people, so I dunno how they decided how much it is

Depends. Are you adopting a newbie or a noob?
If a newbie, that's fine enough. They usually could use some help kicking off.
If it's a noob, well, they mostly just need help by lessons of grammar and manners.
