Really? I think English is more complex than Spanish. Too many irregulars. I'm fortunate to be a native speaker!

Spanish is very similar to french in terms of style and structure, from what I've seen. I've only taken very little french, but I'm surprised how much of a head start I had by knowing both spanish and english. Not just for the vocabulary, but the sentence structure and writing style as well.
I'm REALLY itching to take courses on philosophy, but this is a science and engineering college and the humanities department is tiny, so it's always full. It's probably a class people take to boost their GPA, which is hard enough with the brutal science, math and engineering courses. It's so small that... introduction to philosophy in a historical approach has... one available section of 30 students. Intro to Ethics and Logic are 2 each. It's brutal... =.=

It's because Spanish, and French are both romance languages. They are derivatives of Latin. Go down the line far enough and you eventually hit Proto-Indo European. Interesting fact: Sanskrit is a proto-indo european language.

Thankies^^ I'm not sure if I'll be sticking around yet.. but we'll see.
Mmm, yes. English is much easier as a first language, though I imagine it's the same for all languages.
Yeah, most of my skills in Spanish derive from my background in English and French, though I did take a few classes in junior high. Looking to get back into it next year.
Do you have any other options? Like auditing the course? Or would you only be willing to take it if you got credit. There's always correspondence, but I can't imagine philosophy being much fun with out intense discussions.

I'm not much more interesting, I can promise you that.
Yay! Economics! I'm headed for a bilingual economics degree next year! We're business buddies!
I have a brother who's most likely gonna major in computing science after 2 years in general sciences and another brother in engineering. So basically anything I do will make me look stupid. So I'm considering (corporate) law as a secondary degree if I feel like competing with my brothers. Which is unlikely.
Oh. I got a debit card today. Whoopee.

My major is Information Systems and Operations management Basically a more businessy version of computer science, since my school doesn't have it I'm not in a very good university for my own tastes.. = w=;;;
My brother's at NC State in their tough engineering department doing computer science though.
I got a debit card when I started college. > w<

I couldn't audit the course the past three semesters because I was taking 20 and 19 credits on both semesters of my first year, respectively, and this year I'm taking 3 4-credit courses, meaning 3-hour courses and a 3-hour lab for each plus an undergraduate research.
Despite how my schedule is relatively empty and just how much time I spend not doing the things I ought to be doing, they're all really intense and overwhelming at times.
Depending how my schedule looks next semester, I might audit the course. Enrollment is a real hassle here because you can hardly find seats in any class. English Expository, Creative Writing, and Oratory were full, surprisingly. Microeconomics is a BIG class... and even that was full I got rejected for a lot of my requisites simply because there aren't any seats left Worst of it all is that the college responded to the drastic decrease in government funds by decreasing the number of sections open and slightly increasing the number of students that make it in. People take 5-6 years to graduate because of this mess! D:
Philosophy is not as fun without having the person right in front of you. I just get the urge to break my laptop display and pull that sucker into my room to have a decent chat.
And yeah, Elpi, I know they're romance languages... I'm pretty much localy the biggest history geek on the Roman Empire! 3nodding
Edit: I'm sleepy, Pi! And I ran out of sweet crack! I MISS YOU SWEET CRACK!
