Yeah, it's more or less a win-win.
I'll toss out my opinions thus far.
The graphics, impressive, in my opinion. Whether in a cutscene or not, they are still amazing. Probably not MGS4 standards, but some of the best on the 360.
Gameplay, well, the battle is alittle too simple right now. It's more or less press A, wait, press A. Heal, press A. Etc. Not turn based at all, but I'm looking for a good story in this game.
Story, alittle confusing at first, but it begins to make sense.
Characters, so far, there are two kinda annoying characters. Lightning is alright, Snow is actually manly, the young boy is one of the annoying ones, his name is Hope. The other annoying one is Vanille, I can't put my finger on it, but she just annoys me. And Sahz, or something to that effect, is the comic relief guy, atleast to this point he is.
What else, yes, it's fairly linear right now.
The music, it's nothing impressive, for some, but it fits. It goes with the current settings, I kinda like it too.
Oh yeah, so there is/was a romantic subplot. It kinda starts the story actually. But it's not just thrown in there, it literally begins the story for one of the characters and actually advances the plot.

But the romantic subplot doesn't involve Lightning, right? It's between two other characters, I hear.

And yeah, Hope annoyed me from the second I saw him. Even his name... Japan doesn't realize that Hope is a girl's name in North America? I mean, it makes Leslie and Ashley seem manly.

As of right now, no. It involves Lightning's sister and Snow.
Well, Japan also has a bunch of girly looking guys, so, that could explain why the name Hope is a guys name.

Yeah, from what I've been told, Lightning doesn't get a ball and chain, thank god.

Yeah, well, maybe Hope has something s/he isn't telling us...

Well, I'll find out and tell ya whether or not that happens.

That is a possibility. The voice sounds girly enough.

Yeah, the gameplay right at that stage is nothing. It takes couple hours (unfortunately), but then things start getting meaty. That's when the real fun begins. biggrin And the story, yeah. Just give it some time.

Hope and Vanille aren't annoying, I don't get why everyone says that... then again, I'm a lot farther in the game so they've had time to grow on me. I do actually remember Hope annoying the s**t out of me at first. But Vanille... I dunno, I like to be optimistic as much as possible, so her personality kinda clicked with me. xd

As for Hope's voice, no, it's a man. Vincent Martella, who's 17 years old. And he really doesn't sound girly at all. He sounds like a teenage boy. And go figure, Hope is a teenage boy. >_>

Sazh is a cool guy too. You'll see. Surprisingly, not to spoil anything, but he's probably the most serious of the characters. Well no, I guess I shouldn't say that... I can't really word it differently without spoiling anything, so I suppose I won't even try. I would put it in white, but I don't want to ruin some poor person's enjoyment of the story who might be unable to resist the spoiler's temptation. xd

But yeah, I got to where it opens up a few days ago... and s**t, it opened up a lot. eek I'm gonna need a chocobo... But I can't find them anywhere. Not sure where I'll find them. razz

Edit: Wow, how did I not realize that. Sazh's voice actor, Reno Wilson, was the Black Baron in MadWorld. The guy who introduced all the ultra-deadly minigames (and ended up dying on each one razz )... Cool stuff.

I might have to mess with my surround sound or something, because Hope sounds more like a girl on mine. It could just be a small connection problem though.
Vanille, I find her annoying because an optimistic in that situation screams naive to me. I don't mean, I want all my characters depressed. At the start it would've been fine, but about 3 hours in, I expected there to be a change in attitude that slowly came back to the optimistic ways as the story progressed.
Well, things started to get meaty now. I'm about 5 hours in. It got alittle more indepth, alittle more to do with things now.
Sazh, I like him, he's already showed a serious side, and he also adds in the comic relief. I also like the little thing he's hiding in his afro.
The story, already I enjoy it. I've already been dragged into it. Which is what i was hoping for. It's my highest expectation from a FF game, a great story.

Oi, Bio, sorry to say I won't be able to get to it today either. Busy, busy, busy, and plus I'll be gone for the weekend.

So let's shoot for Monday.

Oi, and I'll give my opinion on why South Park, my favorite t.v. show ever, is starting to seriously let me down than too.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:40 pm

Gone? Gone where? Australia? Haha, what's with "Oi"?

It's hard to stay fresh, though. Let's face it, pretty much from Season 3 and through, like, Season 10, South Park has given us pretty much all gold. But once you rip on WoW, Scientology, Family Guy... I mean, where could you possibly go? I could elaborate, but the bottom line is, there are some things out there that reach their peak, and just simply can't top it. Heck, every single major video game franchise, especially that lasted over 10 years, has reached its peak long ago, and whatever comes next, whether we're talking about Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Mario, Sonic, Zelda, they've all had their best already, and nothing in the future is gonna top it.

EDIT: Okay, Chase. I talked to the band, and they say they're down for creating something for your Werewolf movie. We're probably not gonna spend TOO much time on it, just because we're at a stage right now where there's SO MUCH stuff to do, you know a MySpace page, recording process, photoshoot (which we're doing next Sunday, actually). But still, believe you me, we're gonna make you something awesome. It's probably not gonna be a Rock song, more like Metal, since we're a Metal band, but we CAN do something that sounds early 80's, Judas Priest/Iron Maiden-ish. Sound good?

I just like sayin' oi sometimes.

Oi, South Park has been gold from season 1 to season 12. Season 13 was the first time I was overall disappointed with it. I agree, longevity can make a series go stale, but with the series always delivering for me up to season 12, I didn't think that was possible. Don't get me wrong, there a couple of great episodes in Season 13, but not just as many as there are in all the other seasons. The series has gone from constant cleverness to mostly sillyness.

If Season 14 overall disapoints as well, I'll have to accept the facts that my favorite series is definitely dying...Which will make me a veeery saaad paaanda.

Oi, sounds very good indeed. biggrin

Oh, and FFX is on the fast track of becoming my favorite FF. We'll see how that goes, but the story is peaking in awesomeness towards the end.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 22, 2010 12:32 pm

Yeah, well, South Park is still essentially one of a kind. So it's not like there's a replacement waiting for it around the corner.
But still, Season 10 finale, Stanley's Cup was one of the worst South Park episodes I've seen... Especially for a season finale.

And speaking of disappointing endings... FF10's ending sucks, just a heads up. Actually, now that I think about it, another reason that FF8 is my favorite Final Fantasy is that it had a kick a** ending.

The ending for FFX made me almost cry. Almost. razz

Just like FFXIII has already almost made me cry. Twice. Almost. xd But yeah, Bio's just off his rocker (yeah, what. What now. Bring it, son. Or... what did that RE4 EB Games dude say? I WILL FIGHT YOU!!!! xd ). It's a great ending, albeit sad.

But that's why you get FFX-2, to get the happy ending. biggrin
