Xenomina I tried Persona 2, it was okay. I honestly thought it was really repetitive, especially for an rpg. Which reminds me, I still need to finish Tales of the Abyss. I haven't played Persona 2, but if it's anything like Persona 1, I probably wouldn't like it all that much. With Persona 3, it was a major overhaul, though, the battle system is slick and much quicker, the gameplay kicks a**, and most of the fun about it isn't even about the combat. Either way, I said it once and I'll say it again, Persona 3 kicks the a** of any Final Fantasy game, ever. And Persona 4 is even better.

EVER WANTED TO RELIVE OUTBREAK!?....
WELL CAPCOM AINT BRINGING BACK THOSE SERVERS, SO WE CAN DO THIS THE ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW. ROLEPLAYING.
Hi, I'm Chaos. But you can call me awesome. You see, I haven't posted on here for years as I have been busy with other things, such as life and using the bathroom. Now that I hopefully have your undivided attention I want you to know something special about this Roleplay in particular.
You CAN EASILY die in this game. As the gamemaster using a semi-traditional stat and dice system, I am hosting a once in a lifetime opportunity for YOU to experience a zombie outbreak in Raccoon City.
The setting takes place within Raccoon city, though the locations are more randomized then they once were before. Where you might see some familiar places you will also find a lot of new places as well. As a survivor you'll have to work together with your teammates to solve puzzles, fight off monsters with what little you have. (sorry, Jill, Leon, Claire, Chris and Carlos took most of the ammo)
Your character will get some special abilities, as you once did in outbreak, which will accordingly correspond with your character's background (ie; med student can make first aid sprays, high school student has more inventory space with his backpack, Cop can drift cars well etc.)
You will start the game together, however, you will often find yourselves split from the rest due to unwanted circumstances. It's up to you how to figure out how to get to each other again...if you're still alive to see that happen.
You may make one character. Once that character dies. You cannot re-enter the game. Does that scare you? The aspect of having only one life? Good. You'd better be. You've got only one life to cling on to, and I guarantee that if you don't lose it, one of your friends will.
At the start, you will not post anything about your character besides a description of their age, appearance, equipment, name, and a one word personality description: (shy, violent, joker, serious, etc.) The reason being because realistically, that's how you judge strangers at first impression. Despite being all in this together, your characters will know nothing about each other, it's up to you whether to share any background in-game with each other. You will meet people you can trust, and people you can't trust. You may be forced to work with both at some point.
Your starting weapon will be random, and your groups starting location will be too.
As the Gamemaster, I will tell you your scenario, spawn enemies, and keep track of your stats and hits. I don't play as any characters in this game aside from NPCs and enemies. I will not help you "win", but I will give you survivor advice at crucial times if I feel you deserve it, but if you're an RE Veteran you may not need my help...
The missions will be given simply, for example: 1.Escape the Bar alive. 2.Find a way to kill the monster. (in a run and die situation) 3.Help the wounded survivors escape (optional, but rewards will be given if successful)
The Game will be called: Resident Evil Outbreak: Return. It will be held in the Warren masterpiece Guild subforum of this guild.
While the game cannot go on without me (unless another volunteer GM would like to assist) I am willing to run some today if enough people post in the thread.
If you are unable to attend a playdate, then the "CPU" will play for you.
See you there.

If you go to the roleplaying section, it's up. I only put up the standards, health, how it works, combat, and character creation.
I think I kept it to a good length without too much reading. It's up and it's a go-go when people are ready. You can go ahead and take a look and give your opinion in that thread as well, stuff might change and a lot of stuff is pretty set.

If anyone here listens to Type O Negative, you might've heard that their vocalist, Peter Steele passed away. Really shitty news...
We actually had plans to cover their song, "Dead Again". Now, it's like, that song in itself has a whole new meaning. We're probably gonna make it a full on dedication.

I love Type O Negative. That blows. I think I'll listen to "Everything Dies" now in his honor. Biohazard EXTREME So I picked up Lunar: Silver Star Harmony for PSP last night, and I gotta say I'm really into it. It's a remake of an old school game, so it was made back when RPGs were actually FUN, and not just pointless grind machines like they are today. I'm loving it. Not as much as Persona 3, obviously, but still, this is definitely one series that was definitely worth revamping. I hope they remake Lunar 2 for PSP as well. Old game is old. Question, though: Does it have the original intro music from the Sega CD version...?

Thee Stranger Huwhat? Dude. I love Type O Negative. That blows. I think I'll listen to "Everything Dies" in his honor. Yeah. He had such a unique voice too. Like, the metal scene is overflowing with pointless growlers right now, and there aren't too many vocalists who had really unique voices or styles. And Steele was one of them. Thee Stranger Old game is old. Question, though: Does it have the original intro music from the Sega CD version...? I think what you meant to say was, "Old game is good." Since the vast majority of JRPGs today are ALL flash and NO substance, I kinda wanted something that was actualy, you know, good. And fun. And since I haven't had the pleasure to play the original, and have been craving a new RPG. Pretty clear choice. And no, it doesn't have that intro music. Since it was remade for PS1 in 1999 (NA), they used that version to remake from. Hence all the Anime cutscenes are taken from the PS1 version, including the intro which has the music from the PS1 version, only remastered. The in-game graphics got a complete overhaul though, the game looks awesome on the PSP. Still 2D, but very nicely rendered and animated. Best of all, the battle system is fairly simple. That's the thing. These days, RPGs try to make their gameplay deeper by making the battle systems overly complicated, but frankly, I don't wanna go through a 5 hour tutorial just on the battle system. The battle system should be accessible enough that when you start playing, you know exactly what to do, and all those little innovations and additions should reveal themselves slowly as you go through the game, so that you don't end up needing a tutorial at all. By the way, welcome back, Stranger. Where have you been?

Yeah, definitely agreed.
Yes, old game is definitely good. But, I'm accustomed to the Sega CD version, and I didn't really appreciate the changes they made to the PSX remake. So that kind of sucks that they didn't restore anything from the original with the new remake, and just used the PSX assets all over again.
Thanks, man. I've been around. Been lurking some. Back when everybody was posting their Top Ten Videogames, I started working on a list of my own, but was having trouble concentrating on it. Been having trouble concentrating on anything period lately... Anyway, I told myself I wouldn't post until I got the damn thing finished. As you can see, I still don't have the damn thing finished. But I will soon. That, and I just haven't been in a good way lately. Life's kinda been kicking my a**. Yeah, been in kind of a rut; hoping to get out of it soon.

So that kind of sucks that they didn't restore anything from the original with the new remake, and just used the PSX assets all over again. Well, that's just the FMVs. Like I said, the in-game graphics got completely redone, so it looks much better. But yeah, to be fair though, what was the more logical choice? The FMVs or the slideshow type graphics from the Sega CD version? I mean, I understand that it'd probabl kill the nostalgia factor for you, but I have no point of reference. So to me, this is pretty much a brand new RPG, and frankly, I needed it. Thee Stranger Thanks, man. I've been around. Been lurking some. Well, sorry to hear that things haven't been ideal lately. But that's life, man, ups and downs. I've been living it for the past 2 years like this. Everything is great now, but if it's gonna be like the past 2 years, I'm gonna be fairly miserable by September. Let's hope not, though.

@Bio: Well, neither to be honest. I'd like to see the old Sega CD slideshows revamped and the music remastered or redone in addition to the graphics. But didn't mean to piss in your Cheerios or anything. Glad you're enjoying it.
Yeah, man. I know all about it, believe me. Glad you're doing well, though. Hope you're still doing well come September. In other news, I just picked up Obscure the Aftermath for the rittle boy p***s... I mean, the Wii. The N-DUB. For eleven bucks.
@King of Misery: Uhh... what? Wait, your name is King of Misery. I think it makes a little more sense now...
@Alk: It was a cute picture, man. xd

Still, I'm just saying. If they decided to redo the cutscenes into full blown Anime FMVs back then, chances are, those are the ones they're gonna reuse for THIS remake. Either way, so far so fun.
Ah yes, ObsCure the Aftermath. Well, you know I enjoyed it. I hope you do too. If not, maybe you need to get a friend to play it with you, cause that was the case for me. Since it's co-op.
