Chase showed up the very day that Sightless hatched from her sack. She was born blind so Chase became her eyes. The moth leads her around by riding on her back and giving her signals like fluttering a particular wing or tapping her with her antenna or at a basic telepathic level. A kimeti seeing this would have no idea what was going on, but would probably just assume that Sightless could see.

At the Night Watch Storytelling event Sightless told the tale of Scarab Wings. It begins long ago, when magic had turned the swamp dry and kimeti were ruled by a great buck named Scarab Wings. An evil sorcerer put him under a spell to make him sleep forever but the Motherfather, seeing how much he had done, took pity on him and promised that he would not grow old and die in his sleep and that one day She would wake him. Many years later She led a young doe named Not Forgotten to the cave where he had been hidden and gave her the power to wake him. Together Scarab Wings and Not Forgotten lived a wonderful life, but Her magic stopped Scarab Wings from ever aging and eventually Not Forgotten grew old and died, leaving him alone.
