Sanoskue couldn't help but laugh, "Alright alright, you've got me convinced." He caught up to her and gently nuzzled her cheek, "Just don't go to far...I'm going into the woods to try and find a deer or something ok?"

“I’m just going down to the river. Don’t worry about me.” Kanti licked Sanoskue’s nose. “You be careful now.” She smiled and walked away, towards the river, her head and tail held high.

"Mind you don't fall in!" Sanoskue called after her as he made his way into the woods. He felt like she was the sister he never had, and he didn't want to lose her.

Kanti snorted in amusement as she and Sanoskue parted ways for the moment. Already she was closer to him than she expected. Shaking her head she reached the edge of the river and took a quick drink. She sniffed the air cautiously. There didn’t seem to be any rabbits as she’d hoped, but she could smell a few mice scrounging through the snow. Maybe she could snatch a couple of them for a snack.

Sanoskue wandered through the woods, scenting the air for any sign of prey, and other than small bird that was out of reach there seemed to be nothing. His stomach growled hungrily, and he knew that soon he wouldn't have the strength to take down a deer on his own, he had to hurry.

Kanti walked around if circles a bit, testing her legs. They didn’t hurt anymore and she felt confident enough. Using her keen hearing she pinpointed a mouse and leapt at it, sinking into snow up to her belly as she caught the mouse between her jaws and crunched down, effectively ending its little life. “Ha!” she barked triumphantly.

Sanoskue scented the air again and froze, the fur on the back of his neck rising. There was a bear in the area, which would explain the lack of animals around. His stomach growled hungrily but it would have to wait, he had to warn Kanit before it was to late. He dashed in the direction of the river, dodgeing between trees and jumping over fallen logs, hoping that she was safe.

Kanti had just scented another mouse when the wind changed directions and a sharp, repugnant odor swept across her nose. The smell was hot and reeked of decay, and Kanti’s eyes watered from the stench. “Bear,” she gasped. At that moment she heard something large crunching through the snow. She whirled around to see the bear coming up behind her.

Sanoskue broke the treeline and dashed towards the river, "Kanti!" He shouted, then froze at the sight he saw, the bear was advancing on her and chances are he didn't want to just talk. "Kanti RUN!" Sanoskue shouted at the top of his voice, as he charged at the bear, hoping to distract it and give her a chance to get away.

With a short yelp of terror Kanti spun away from the bear and struggled to run through the snow. In the corner of her vision she saw Sanoskue break through the trees and heard him yell at her to run before he dashed toward the bear. “Sanoskue be careful!” Kanti howled at him as she began to scramble over the dead tree that served as a bridge over the river. She was halfway across when the bear roared and brought his massive front paws down on the branch, jarring it and causing Kanti to stumble and nearly fall into the river.

"Leave her ALONE!" Sanoskue thundered as lunged at the bear and grabbed it's neck fur in his jaws. The bear roared and swiped at Sanoskue with it's claws, but he still hung on, determined to buy Kanti enough time to get back to the den.

“Sanoskue! No!” Kanti cried as she saw the bear shake roughly and catch Sanoskue with its paw, tearing him away from its throat and flinging him aside like a rag doll. Sanoskue hit the ground hard and when he didn’t immediately get up, Kanti feared the worst. Adrenaline rushed through her, and disregarding her own safety she leapt back across the log and tackled the off-balance bear, sending them both to the ground and distracting it from Sanoskue’s still form. Kanti tumbled away, unhurt for the moment, and began dashing around the bear, biting it here and there as hard as she could, drawing blood and making the beast roar in pain, but dancing away before the bear could catch her with its paw too.

Sanoskue slowly got to his paws, dazed, then stared in terror as he saw Kanti attacking the bear. "Kanti no! Just run!" He ran at the bear, jumped on it's back and bit down on the back of it's neck. The two wolves had almost no hope of killing the beast on their own and chances are one of them would be killed if this continued.

“Then let’s go! Now!” Kanti howled at him, still darting around the bear, confusing it. “I’m not leaving until you come to!” She jumped out of the way of the bear’s well-aimed swipe of its paw, then lunged forward and bit its ear hard before jumping back again.

"And I'm not leaving untill you get going!" He growled through a mouthfull of bear fur. He didn't know how much longer he could keep his grip and hoped that Kanti would get moving so he could get out of there too.
