Tamara heard Chris say that there was someone in the backyard and knew it was him. She moved over to where Chris and Chalmes were. Her eyes flashed with determination as she looked at the boys. "Chalmes, stay back. He's dangerous. If he gets past me, then you can step in. Not before." The look in her eyes betrayed the fire burning beneath them, the fire of the upcoming duel.

The house loomed in front of him as he stalked up to the back door. He immediately spotted the blonde hair of his least favorite person in the world. He snarled and pointed his wand at the house, casting a blasting curse.

Tamara leaped at the back door and threw it open just in time to reflect Aldanis' curse. A grimace crossed her face as pain shot through her stomach, but she gritted her teeth and shot a fireball at him.

As the curse reflected off into the distance, Aldanis snarled and prepared to cast another curse. However, he saw the fireball and dived out of the way. The fireball struck the garden behind him. Jumping to his feet, Aldanis cast a severing charm at her.

Tamara stepped to the side a millisecond too late and the severing charm cut through her clothing and nipped her side. A small dribble of blood stained her shirt. She resisted the urge to cry out and retorted with a blast of freezing cold air from her wand.

Aldanis conjured a shield made of fire the protected him from the cold air, despite the ground around him freezing. With a snarl and a curse, he hurled a cruciatus curse at his long time rival.

☯The duel raged on, and Arthur knew his daughter was in danger. But the only way he could help her now was to succeed in his own duel. He fueled his helpless rage and desire to help his daughter into one last gigantic assault. He battered down Aldanis' block in Gearvin's mind and swarmed his mind in. As he did, he swept away Aldanis' presence in the shop keep's mind. Suddenly, he was gone from Gearvin's mind, pulling the last foreign control from his mind. Gearvin was himself again, and though exhausted, Arthur immediately threw himself into the duel with Aldanis, casting a shield charm over his daughter.☯

Tamara flinched, recognizing the spell being fired at her, and prepared for a world of pain. However, the spell never made contact as her father, tired and clearly out of breath, joined the fray and rebounded the curse. She nodded to her father and threw a hex at Aldanis.
