As Delia approached him with the suture needle, he drew in a breath and held it. The area around the wound was tender, but he did not feel the needle itself. He did not look, keeping his eyes tightly shut so that the wrinkles at the corner of his eyes shown. He sat rigid, perfectly still, trying to ignore the sick tugging of his skin.
His head began to feel very heavy and it drooped forward suddenly, his rigid body suddenly relaxing and slooping. He breathed in and opened his eyes before he slipped off the toilet lid. He was pale, but not from blood loss. He had fainted briefly. The room swirled lightly and it took a while before he responded to anything, staring at Delia, but not seeing her. He remembered to breath at least, and it helped his stay conscious.
When he came back to his senses, he realized what he had done and the blood that had drained from his face returned full force in the deepest blush he had displayed yet. "S-sorry." Was all he could mutter, the thoughts of the needle lost for the moment in his embarrassment.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia looked up, expecting to see him still braving it, but when she saw his body sway slightly, she let go of the stitches. The tweezers fell into her lap and she braced herself to catch him, which she kind of managed to. Her knees hit the tiled floor with a thud, but she didn't let it bother her. She looked at him and touched his face, feeling the cold sweat against his sheet-white skin. "Jac? Jac, breathe. Relax." Delia waited for a moment, watching as he returned to his senses. It hadn't been the reaction she was expecting. After all, he'd endured the wound itself, and it was hard for her to believe that he was so afraid of needles. But despite her disbelief, the care and empathy was still evident in her face. She watched as his face turned red in embarrassment, and she couldn't help but to laugh a little, realizing her hands were still clutching tightly to his upper arms. Her arms fell to her side and she let out a small sigh. "Don't worry about it. It's a natural reaction." she replied, giving him a reassuring smile. She went back to her relaxed kneeling position and picked up the tweezers again. "I'm almost done, just a couple more stitches and then it'll be over. Are you gonna be okay?" She peered at his face, instinctively touching his arm in concern. ---

Jac looked off to the side, not wanting to see the slightest bit of what was going on in his gunshot wound. "Mhm, just hurry?" He stared at the tile wall of the shower, over the sink. Sitting there on the toilet seat while Delia finished up the stitches, he felt like a child, sitting there as his mother put peroxide on a cut. He had mixed feelings about it. Here was someone who, though they had only met two days ago, cared enough about him, or human beings in general, to do this for him. At the same time, it reminded him of how incapable he was sometimes, and that sort of thinking always sent him into a spiral of past fights with his father. He frowned, lost in thought again about his younger sister, which in turn brought him back to his dream. He had relived that horrible day where his life changed for the worse. There, that was where he had made the first of many wrong turns he would make in his life. All of them leading to him sitting on this toilet, in a dinky motel room, with a girl who should probably be preparing for school. School... yet another thing he had left unfinished. He sighed.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia bit her lip and looked at him carefully for a moment, before snapping out of it and finishing stitching up his wound as fast as possible. When she was finished, she exhaled, perhaps a bit too loudly, in relief. "There. It'll take a few days to heal, so be careful." She looked down at the bloodied cloth and other assortment of things she'd used then tossed the scraps in the garbage bin. After that she slowly got to her feet and washed her hands again in the sink. It always used to surprise her mother at how well she handled situations involving blood and first aid, but that's why she got the idea of becoming a nurse in the first place. She just wanted to help people. "I don't suppose that was an accident, by the way, huh? A wound like that isn't from falling down some stairs." She sighed, her gaze falling onto her hands as she washed them. "I know it's none of my business, so I won't ask questions, but just... be careful, okay?" She stared at the running water for a moment in thought before turning the water off and drying her hands. ---

Jac managed to stay with her the rest of the procedure, and was immensely grateful when it was over. He looked down at it, feeling slightly grossed out at seeing the stitches poking out of him. He remained sitting for the moment as Delia washed her hands and cleaned up. "Thanks." He said, looking at her. He looked away however, when she brought up how he had gotten the wound in the first place. "Yeah... It won't happen ever again. That's all behind me now." Hopefully. He looked at the wall across from him and grabbed a small, white towel from the towel rack and wet it with the water before she turned it off and began to wipe away the small amount of blood that had dried around his wound gently. He looked at her, "You will make a great nurse."
Marina Elemento Ewww, I've had stitches a few too many times in my life, but gladly, I can only remember the most recent occasion. I got to watch the blood drain from my father's face when I started to scream. I get all squirmy thinking about it... B-b-b-bleh! >-<

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--A warm smile returned to her lips as she cleaned her things and put them back in the kit, closing it up and stuffing it back in her bag. Her heart rate was slowing back down to normal and steady yet again, and her worry was replaced with relief, if not a bit of pride as well. She met his eyes and her smile broadened a bit. "Thank you," she replied, tugging her hair gently out of the loose bun and letting it fall over her shoulders. "I'm glad I could help." --- Kiyiya Sakura Oh gosh, I can't even imagine! >.< I've never had to get stitches before, thankfully, but it would probably freak me out as well. My friend had spinal surgery and had dissolving stitches all down her back at one point. She thought it was cool but the rest of us were like "OH MY GOD". xD

Finally feeling like he could stand without falling over, he got up slowly from the toilet seat and sighed, glad that whole ordeal was through. He watched as Delia let her hair fall back around her shoulders and felt that familiar sense of attraction he had felt momentarily before. Stop it. he warned himself. She'll only get hurt, like everyone else. He walked into the bedroom, still sore, but better now that the wound was no longer open, and looked through his clothes. The Oingo Boingo tee had a bullet hole in it, and his dress shirt was now stained with blood. He only had the plain black shirt he had loaned to Delia. It would have to do. He picked it up off the floor with a grunt and shrugged it on. It smelled like girl, sweet from the soap or body spray she had on when she wore it, and clean. He liked it. He lifted the collar of the shirt up to his nose and sniffed it a few times.
Marina Elemento Eww! I've never had surgery, but i probably will need it when I'm older for my knee and ankle. I'm kinda a crazy kid. I had to get those dissolving ones on the inside of my knee, and normal ones to stitch the skin together on the outside. I took a picture of it before they stitched it and my sister told me it looked like voldemort's mouth. It's healed now, but the dent in the skin is there and I make it say "Hello Harry" When she's around. Never broken a bone though! So HA!

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia let out a small sigh and grabbed her bag, following him out of the bathroom. It had been getting rather stuffy in there, and the faint smell of blood still lingered in her nostrils, but she didn't let it get to her. In the silence as he looked for clothes, she got herself another cupful of water and drank it in the quiet. She watched him curiously for a moment over the rim of the cup as he put the shirt on, before realizing that she hadn't even washed the thing. Mentally kicking herself yet again, she set the cup on the table with a small laugh. "Sorry about that," she said, "I probably should have washed it before giving it back to you." Her cheeks blushed light pink and she took another sip of water to hide it. --- Kiyiya Sakura HAHAHAHAHAHAHA that is hilarious! (The Voldemort thing!) I've never injured myself that badly, not that I can think of anyway... o.o

Jac let go of the collar of his shirt and shook his head, "It's fine. It doesn't stink or anything." He picked up his phone and looked at the time, eight thirty. He had a half hour to get ready for his first day of work. All he had to do was throw on his only clean pair of jeans and shoes and he was ready, so he had time to relax. He looked at Delia, "Lucky you're studying for that kind of stuff huh." He said with a light chuckle. She was so serious and focused in the bathroom, so different from how he had seen her the past two days. He had judged her to be some ditsy college girl who never took anything very seriously. He saw someone else today, someone caring and passionate about life. She realy would make a good nurse.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia finished the rest of her water with a small sigh. The worry earlier had really messed with her emotions, but she was pretty good at hiding it with a small smile. The relief that replaced the worry was welcoming, but she still could barely believe what she had just done. She looked up when he spoke and smiled again. "Yeah. I'm kind of glad I got to put my skills to the test for real. I've only had to do stitches like that once before on my brother, but it was nothing compared to that." Her eyes fell back to his side again and she folded her arms across her chest. Lots of questions were still nagging in the back of her head, but she did her best to ignore them. ---

Jac saw the look on her face as she folded her arms across her chest, but was thankfully surprised when she remained silent. He sighed, thinking his next decision over carefully, then nodded to himself, "Okay, I know you have questions, and I think it's fair to let you ask them. Just... Don't be surprised if I can't answer most of them." He said this with a heavy tone, keeping his eyes on the floor.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia's gaze snapped up from his side to look at his face, wondering if he was really serious. It was as if he'd read her mind. Maybe she wasn't so good at hiding her thoughts with her face. Her back relaxed a little and she sighed. "Well, for starters, how'd you get a gash that deep anyway? Did someone..." She paused to take in a breath. "It's from a bullet, isn't it?" She kept her arms folded as she thought, peering at his face as she waited for an answer. Identifying the cause of a wound wasn't her expertise, but she couldn't think of anything else that it could be. ---

Jac was silent as she scrutinized him, wondering if she was going to ask or not. When she did, he did not look up. He kept his steely gaze on the carpet until she was finished. He nodded. What else could he do? She was a smart girl, and lying would only make his seem more pathetic. "It was a bullet."

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia let out a sigh, but it sounded more like a whimper. It wasn't that she was surprised; after all, it had been her hunch all along. It was the only logical explanation, despite how scary of an explanation it was. "But... why? Why would someone do something like this to you? You're not, I mean... you didn't do anything wrong." As soon as she said the words, she regretted them. How could she say something she didn't even know about this person? She'd just met him. For all she knew, he could be the most dangerous person she'd meet. But he hadn't hurt her yet, and that was enough for her to at least have some faith in this guy. ---

Jac's eyes flicked up to meet Delia's, a look of shock on his face. How could she possibly know if he was innocent or not. The look on his face was mixed with a look of pain. Oh how he wished those words were true. His brows knitted and he looked back down at the carpet, "I don't know what kind of man you think I am, but I'm probably the farthest thing from it." He said this with such surety. He truly believed he was to blame for a lot of bad things that had happened, not only to himself, but to other people. They always seemed to get hurt... or killed.
