The Forgotten Weasley Crew

When we went off away from the forest- We did travel far to get a taste of so much more. We dug up the roots of all the stories... Put them in a pot and brought them to a fiery roar! We fed on these things without a worry; Never gave a thought to the coming of the winter storm. Gone away, gone away, what was yesterday? Make a meal, make a bed, tuck your feet in- And resting elbows twice on a table can be nice; But the comforts, they can be deceiving. ᶜ ʸ ᴿ ᵁ ˁ ᴱ ᶻ ᴱ ᴷ ᴵ ᴱ ᴸ ᴸ ᴵ ᴸ ᴸ ᴬ ᴺ ᵀ ᴵ ᴺ ᴱ ᴾᵁᴿᴱᴮᴸᴼᴼᴰ │ ᵀᴴᴵᴿᴰ ᴮᴼᴿᴺ │ ˁᴸʸᵀᴴᴱᴿᴵᴺ │ ᶠᴵᴿˁᵀ ʸᴱᴬᴿ
Cy knew he wasn't going to disappointed when the professor opened his mouth again, and he certainly wasn't. The man's sneer was foreshadowing enough. This was going to be brilliant. He leaned back in his seat to watch the fireworks. After a brief lecture and awarding points, Professor Hill proceeded to tear into Savannah and Mambo. Cy wasn't really sure what Savannah's point was when it came to lying about her name, especially when the fake name she gave was so obviously fake, unless she just wanted a reaction out of the man and thought that was the easiest way to get one. As for Mambo... well, he wasn't sure what she had expected with this professor, but he thought even the most oblivious of students could realize he was the not the professor you gave your nickname to. As for the dreadlocks, well... thank god she hadn't taken them out for this class, because then they never would have gotten this beautiful gift. Cy nearly had to bury his face in his arms to mask his expression of delight for a few minutes, but managed to get himself under control, quietly reading until the Ravenclaw girl decided to lash back. Could this get any better? He didn't look up, just listened in gleeful silence as she went off on the man. Oh boy, they were significant. This was too perfect. She should have shown him her slow worm. When she then walked out he exhaled quietly, forcing back a grin as he continued to read in silence. Now the seasons are not what they once seemed- The berries all are green though the sun is at a fine high crest... We lifted our shirts up in a hurry- Reaching for the belly hollow from the long cold rest! We slept off all the fat, but they'll be no more of that, 'Cause there must be some disease 'neath the canopy! Swinging tails from trees, we can gather we need- Give away what we had a fair share of... And now the forks and knives with the sacrifice; With a pair only some can believe in.

Kai raised an eyebrow as both the girl who lied about her name and the girl with dreadlocks were called out, and what was even worse, the girl with dreadlocks decided to come back with snide remarks of her own. In situations like this, he found it best to just stay quiet and maybe tune out what the other was saying, if possible. But obviously, "Mambo" didn't have the same thought process as him. He couldn't say he was as entertained as others, although it was an interesting turn of events.

The professor proved just as bold in every word he spoke as he was in every step he took and every look he gave. Considering Mambo had kindly offered him an answer for his question regarding necessary tools for herbology, it was quite a surprise to Liam that he still chose to deduct points from their house for her desire to be called by a name other than her own. While it didn't surprise him that Professor Hill did the same when Savannah pulled the same stunt, that was a different matter all together. To be honest, Liam himself did feel that Mambo reacted rather childish by storming from the room, but he was quickly learning that every eagle flew to the beat of their own heart.
Following the professor's orders, Liam retrieved his notebook and self-inking quill, his class textbook already open on his desk. In a matter of seconds he had managed to find the section on spiky bushes, which he proceeded to summarize in his neat, yet rushed handwriting.

xxxxxMordred Taylor Seftonxxxxx 1st Year Ravenclaw ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Sir," Mordred said raising his hand, wanting to hit himself for the words that he was going to blurt out. It wasn't like he intended to defend Mambo. She was ridiculous. But it was the principle of point reductions. "I wasn't aware of when 'being ridiculous' is a valid reason to deduct house points. Causing a distraction, sure. Lying, fine. But 'being ridiculous' isn't a valid reason to deduct points, unless you are proposing that you can give and reduct points merely on favorites. If that is the case then the point system is hardly fair like they try to present. There is no reward in actually answering questions or doing your work if it is based on who you happen to like or not, right?" Mordred raised a brow in challenge, ready for the coming point deductions that he was sure Professor Hill would give him. He thought about clarifying he didn't support Mambo's ridiculousness and agreed she was, but figured that wasn't worth mentioned. No matter how ridiculous the girl was she shouldn't be punished for such a personality fault, right? Lectured at worse, but points hardly seemed fair. Especially to the house Ravenclaw. They can't help she was a moron.

Jason entered the classroom and strode toward the front, his head erect and his his eyes focused as he quickly set up the classroom. Looking things over, he nodded and settled back to wait, his arms crossed as he watched the students enter. When the last students entered, he flicked his wand, causing the door to close and lock.
He then settled his gaze at the students assembled. "Hello, and welcome back. Last lesson, we happened to discuss the various tools you will be using in this class, while this class we shall go ahead and start with a basic plant that is found in many gardens in the wizarding world. The spiky bush. As you can see, I have set several bushes on the tables before you. I would like for each of you to pull on your dragonhide gloves and please gather to them four at a time. This way, we can all see what exactly I happen to be showing you."
Jason pulled on his own gloves and approached the plant on his own table. "As you may not know, spiky bushes happen to be a highly aggressive species of plant, with long thorns that give these bushes their names. The thorns on these bushes happen to be yellow, while the thorns of wild spiky bushes are more of a brown colour. The one distinction between domesticated spiky bushes and their wild cousins aren't in the color of their thorns, but in what they do with them. These bushes when domesticated can shoot their thorns at what they perceive as threats. This makes spiky bushes ideal for owners that wish to keep intruders out of their gardens. The bushes before you have been hit with a Stunning Charm, which means they will not attack. However, should you notice the bush start to shiver, please inform me so I can recast the spell. I wish for each of you to gently move aside the foliage of each plant and try and locate one of these thorns, like this." The older wolf deftly pushed aside a bit of the foliage, stopping finally when he found one of the thorns in question. He showed it to the students and then nodded toward the bushes he set out. "Now you try. I will be coming around and watching you to ensure the plants are uninjured and that you are using the proper technique to minimize both damage to yourself and the bush."

Without acknowledging the growl in the pit of his stomach, Liam strode slowly into the herbology greenhouse and took refuge in one of the foremost seats. His shoulders ached, there were bags under his eyes, and blisters—soon to be calluses—had made a home out of his hands. Until this morning, he hadn't previously considered how taxing the sport of quidditch would be on his body. Of course he had counted on needing to constantly practice his flying maneuvers to ensure a high level of performance, but he hadn't realized just how painful those maneuvers could be the next morning. Despite having continued his well-planned running regime each day since he had made it to Hogwarts—spending his mornings jogging around the black lake a dozen times, flying required a much more specific set of muscles—muscles he wasn't used to using so adamantly yet.
Once every student was seated, Professor Hill explained the day's task in detail. The Ravenclaw was excited to get his hands dirty, so to speak, and found himself gathered around one of the spiky bushes the first chance he got. Tugging his brand new dragonhide gloves over each hand, his gaze lingered on the teacher's rugged appearance as he waited for him to begin. He was definitely one of the more stern breeders of knowledge within the castle, but he had a sense of stone cold logic about him that Liam admired, even if he were a tad bit rough around the edges.
Prior to making contact with the plant before him, it was a precaution to ensure that the bush was completely still. Although the thought of thorns being shot within the classroom did indeed sound entertaining, there wasn't anyone he had made enemies with to the point where he wouldn't mind them being harmed. Once he was certain of the plant's stillness, Liam gently spread the leaves of the plant aside, section by section, until he spotted a sharp thorn the color of an over-ripe lemon embedded deep within the bush's interior. Interesting how the source of this plant's protection was itself so well protected.

Siobhan 'Hannah' Grey Hufflepuff │ First Year │ Eleven Years Old │ Single
More than anything, Hannah wanted this class to get over with. Not just because she thought Professor Hill was sizing them all up for how best to cook them, but because there was Quidditch practice afterwards and it was the weekend. Still, she also didn't want to screw up either, as she really didn't want the professor to be mad at her.
She looked at the plant in front of her with a bit of trepidation, recognizing it for one of the variety in Mother Grey's garden which she'd always been told to give a wide berth. Now she was pulling on her dragonhide gloves so she could have a poke around at it and locate the thorns which it would ordinarily be shooting at her. Though the Professor said it had been stunned, she still half-expected it to start blasting away at her anyway, she was prepared to hit the deck if she even thought it was moving.
The thick gloves were harder to use than she'd expected, and Hannah tried to be really careful not to bend or break so much as a leaf, as she pushed aside fronds as she sought out one of the spikes she'd been told to find. As the professor glowered over her shoulder, Hannah found a long yellow spike, which seemed to be pointed unerringly at her heart.

Even after finding his first thorn, Liam continued to carefully work through the plant, moving each leaf to the side by its stem with caution, doing his best not to get in the way of any of the other students. Just as he had begun counting the thorns out of mere curiosity and a means to pass the time, the Hufflepuff to his left opened up a conversation by trying to verify his name. Offering her a small, though brief smile, the boy nodded his head once and confirmed with a polite, "Yes, ma'am," without actually making eye contact.
Letting go of the plant altogether, he removed his right glove—out of courtesy for the majority of people being right-handed, despite being a minority himself—and held out a firm hand for her to shake, this time with a warm smile and his pale blue eyes locked on hers. "And you are Pippa Clarkson. Pleasure to formally meet you."

For a moment, she put her gaze back upon her plant, thinking she was meant to be doing something else with it. Were they meant to remove one of the thorns? No, definitely not. Professor Hill wouldn't want us doing that.
Seeing Liam move beside her, Pip looked over at him, and smiled softly when she saw the hand extended toward her. She, in turn, removed her dragonhide glove as well before raising her right hand and grasped his firmly in greeting.
"Yes, sir. Pleasure is all mine." She met his gaze and noticed his warm smile and intense eyes and found her face reddening. She dropped his hand and let her eyes draw to his plant. Her bare fingers began to fiddle with the glove still on her left hand before finally speaking again.
"How're you liking classes? And Ravenclaw?"

Walking into Herbology, Kai did his best to listen to what the professor had to say without actually looking at him. The thing was, he actually enjoyed the class, but reminders of certain undesirable people from his past mirrored the stern man's face. So, he decided that if he could just block it out everything would be fine.
Sitting himself in front of a spiky bush, Kai slipped gloves on and gently pushed through the foliage to find the thorns in question, pulling them out just as gently, like instructed.

Location : Herbology - Friday @ 2:00pm After last weeks class, Emma really hoped it would be a quiet herbology class. Sure their professor was strict but he was scary strict. She almost wondered if she should mention it to her uncle and maybe get some advice on how to deal with it. However she didn't want her uncle getting the wrong impression. Giving a light sigh she took a seat in class next to Kai and waited for the fun to begin. Putting on her gloves Emma watched Professor Hill as he showed them how to handle the strange plant in front of them. It was apparently known as a spiky bush. They were odd looking bushes but then again they were wizarding world plants. Going over to the plant in front of her Emma worked on pushing the foliage back to find one of the yellowish spikes. It wasn't all that hard to locate them she found. However she did need to keep an eye on if it started to move any. "These sure are interesting plants." she said out loud to Kai. "So what do you think about this class?" she asked. Status: Unsure about him... With: Class... Professor Hill, Kai Wearing: Hufflepuff Uniform OOC: --- Somewhere you'll fit in huh? Kai continued pushing through the plant, picking out the spiky parts gently and setting them to the side. He glanced over as Emma sat next to him, shrugging his shoulders at her question. It took him a moment to answer her. It took him a moment to actually think of the answer. "I'm.. I'm not sure. I like the work itself. It has a sort of stress-relieving quality to it, and helps to take my mind off of things. I just don't enjoy the vibe that the professor gives off, I suppose." That was as close as he could get to 'scares the hell out of me' without soundling like a total wimp.

Rather than replacing his right glove, Liam removed his left as well, tucking them both back into the side pocket of his bag. Before he had finished, Pippa inquired about his experience with classes so far, and in Ravenclaw, in general. The questions made him hesitate for just a fraction of a moment before he continued what he had been doing and placed his bag back on the floor under his chair. He wasn't used to anyone casually asking about his own life...ever. His parents, while both interested in him exceeding standards and upholding the family's good name in terms of success, never asked about his life out of sheer curiosity, and certainly not out of courtesy. It was a foreign feeling, to say the least, catching him off guard and forcing him to actually think about the answer.
For several long seconds, the Ravenclaw stood completely still, his arms crossed and his eyes locked on the desk in front of him, though not actually seeing it. Because he wasn't used to sharing his thoughts and feelings, he had little reason to dwell on them. Here and now the boy came to the conclusion that even he did not know himself all too well.
"Erm...well..." he began, a tad surprised at his own hesitation. "I suppose I like them all, to be honest. Although those—such as charms, transfiguration, and defense against the dark arts—that are more spell-oriented could be considered my favorites. Oh, and flying of course—but that's a given." He couldn't help but smile as he spoke, trying to be careful with his words so as not to give away the fact that he really was a cut-and-dried Ravenclaw.
Shifting his weight onto just one foot, Liam snapped out of his blind gaze and met the girl's eyes again. "And as for my house, well...I think I just made it pretty obvious that I certainly feel at home there," he added, his cheeks suddenly painted with a dim red hue. He wasn't ashamed of his love for knowledge, but that didn't necessarily mean he wanted to flaunt it like a new set of dress robes, either. "What about you? Enjoying life at Hogwarts?" he prodded gently, not wanting to force it out of her, but genuinely curious as to whether students of other houses found the whole learning experience quite as fascinating as Ravenclaws seemed to.
