Amelia Cross She had just woken up, but Amelia kept the comment to herself. He was upset and she figured he probably wouldn’t appreciate her smart a** remark. Her thoughts were coming easier now as the effects of the sedative started to wear off. In the end she was glad she didn’t say anything because he had carried on despite apparently intending to end their conversation. “I don’t see what difference that makes to you.” She answered calmly. “Either he was captured because of me or he wasn’t rescued because of me. The result is the same.” She felt it best to leave out the fact that she couldn’t possibly know what Sybil had done to her or control the hallucination. It wasn’t until Adrian had come back for her that she even realized what she was seeing wasn’t real. It did explain why he was so hard on her about it though. “I am sorry that it happened. I understand the sacrifice you made for me even if it was unintentional, but I can’t change the past any more than you can.” Would she even if she could? If they had rescued his father instead of her would the whole rebellion have walked into Sybil trap? The road untraveled would forever remain unknown. “All I can do is try to help you move forward.” Yeah, she was sure that was real comforting to him right now.

"Yes, and how can you help? Sure you can make a few gadgets but we are going to need a lot more than that to do anything. You can't fight, you proved that when you let one of the presidents attack you, your not medically trained, and you are so far out of the loop of my secrets that you didn't even know what Zeta Protocol was. What can you contribute? We lack the supplies for you to be a Quartermaster." That may have seemed harsh, basically telling someone they could do nothing to help, but Adrian was still mad at her. She was right, he entirely blamed her and himself for his father's death, it was just easier to focus on blaming her. She had done nothing but show a lack of faith in the resistance, hinder their progress, and criticize any mistake.

Amelia Cross “I guess I will just sit around and waste space than.” Amelia answered clearly annoyed. “I don't know why you bothered to rescue me. You've done nothing but insult me and blame for everything since. Sorry I didn't try to fight a robot that could probably punch a hole in a concrete wall. Sorry that I didn't think it would be a good idea to start shooting when we were twenty floors full of robot below ground. Sorry Sybil doesn't militarily train it's Tower employees or that your father didn't share all of the resistances secrets with me. Secrets he gave away while I sat and watched my family die keeping my apparently useless knowledge out of Sybil's hands. You know what, sorry I couldn't control the effects of either of the drugs Sybial gave me. Why did you even bother to waste the medical teams supplies on me if I am so God damn unless? A bullet would have been a lot easier.”

"Because it is what my father wanted!" Adrian shouted which caused a stir in the other rooms. It was clear he had woken up some of the others but they did not enter the room. Probably to allow some privacy. Adrian would have left Amelia in the sewers, he would have left her in the tower, he would have abandoned her after her first hallucination, he would have done all of that if his father hadn't told them that Amelia was captured. His father, a man who was already in Sybil's hands, had gone out of his way to ensure Adrian and the resistance knew Amelia was imprisoned. Adrian needed that to mean something. He needed Amelia to be more that she appeared but at every turn she seemed unqualified for any of this war. "My father wanted us to save you! That is why he risked our entire plan to tell us you had been taken and I will never know why because of what happened in the Tower!" Adrian was clearly still choosing his words with care. He hadn't directly said to anyone that he had shot his father in the head. It would have confused some and lead others to doubt. That was the gift and curse of free will, people could doubt you.

Amelia Cross “Right and he is the only one who could possibly tell you since you aren’t interested in anything I have to say.” Amelia shot back standing up. The room seemed to spin a little, but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. “For someone who’s put so much effort into doing what he wanted you sure haven’t put in any to figure out why when the answer has been standing in front of you the whole time. You know what, forget it. It’s not like you’ll believe me anyway.” She moved to leave. “I’m going for a walk. Maybe if you’re lucky I won’t come back.” She intended to prove to him that she was useful, but given her lack of equipment doing so would be difficult. She was banking on Sybil assuming they were in the Hanger, focusing there rather than searching the city for them.

"Because you have said nothing on any actual value." Adrian's tone was becoming oddly hostile. Not just angry, it almost seemed as if he was thinking about shooting her. "You gave vague ominous descriptions of how Sybil was more than an machine. You never said anything useful. If you had been able to tell me what Sybil was maybe I would have believed you but no, you just came in to the Hangar acting like you knew the greatest secret in the entire world right now and you couldn't tell me what it was. So go take your walk and if you don't find a way to be useful, don't come back. You seem to be more useful to Sybil than to me. "

Amelia Cross Amelia stormed out of the safe house without another word with nothing but the clothes on her back and the little spider that was still her pocket. It was an obviously bad idea. She had no where to go, no supplies and a murderous machine on the look out for her, but she was too angry to care. How dare he? Nothing of value? Acting like she knew the worlds greatest secret? She had tried to tell him, but he didn't want to hear it. He hadn't even given her a chance to explain what she had seen in the basement. He never once asked her what skills she had or what she did at the Tower. Did it ever occur to him that there was a reason Sybil hadn't stripped her like it did his father? Whatever. She would destroy Sybil by herself. Nearly three days would pass before Amelia returned, knocking on the door of the safe house. It would seem odd to just enter since she didn't live there and besides they would probably shoot her if she did. She was wearing an odd looking helmet, and in a large sack she was caring over her shoulder were ten more. Over the last three days she had slowly decided that maybe she was partly to blame. Even if he had said he wasn't interested in what she had to say, she could have explained about the presidents copies in the basement. She could have told him what she was good for even if he hadn't asked. Too many years under Sybil doing only what she was told to do and following orders.

Adrian did not open the door. He wasn't heard inside the house and he didn't suddenly appear to yell at Amelia. No, instead a new face opened the door, well not entirely new. It was Will. He had been one of the few in the scouting team when everything went wrong. Will looked Amelia up and down then gestured into the house. It was a calculated risk but without Adrian there to make the choices, the remainder of the resistance were making more and more of those risks. "You've been out for a while." Will said in a light tone as he pulled his hand back from the door revealing a sawed-off shotgun. They had clearly found a way to obtain more weapons in the last three days.

Amelia Cross “I am glad I knocked.” Amelia said, noting the shotgun, as she stepped inside. She set the bag on the floor and took off her helmet. “I've been busy, but I brought presents.” She smiled at Will relieved that he had both let her in and the lack of hostility in his tone. She had spent the last three days mostly hiding from Sybil making getting the supplies she needed difficult. She would have come back sooner and asked for their help but Adrian had made it clear she needed to make herself useful first. “Adrian isn't here?” She asked. She wanted them all to be there for the big reveal.

"You didn't hear? No, of course you didn't hear. How could you have." Will's voice trailed of slightly and he gestured towards the bedroom that had been converted into a hospital wing. "Adrian went out looking for something. Sybil found him and he was shot. Well he was shot a few times. He managed to get back here but he has been in a coma for the last two days. Well it's pretty early so it's hard to tell if it is actually a coma or if he is just taking a really long nap." Will set the shotgun on the end table just next to the door. If Amelia went into the room she would indeed see Adrian's body lying on a bed with three bullet wounds. Two in the chest and one in the stomach. He was hooked up to various machines monitoring his heart rate, blood pressure, and even brain activity.

Amelia Cross “Oh my God.” Amelia rushed into the room Will had gestured to, her presents apparently forgotten. She stared at his body for a minute in silence before asking a flood of questions. “What's wrong with him? I mean I know he got shot, but what got hit? Why isn't he awake? What do the medics say? What does he need?” Despite how badly they had parted earlier she was really upset to find him this way. More than the fact that he had given up his father to save her twice, she felt the resistance really needed him. They needed someone who could out smart Sybil. Someone who could talk it into letting them go, when it had them trapped and had the perfect plan to destroy the resistance. “What was he looking for by himself?”

"He didn't say why he was going out alone but he said it had something to do with being to harsh on someone. Probably Peter. Back at the hangar Adrian was always yelling at Peter. It wasn't the boy's fault that he couldn't shoot straight but Adrian had so much stress. He had to let it out somehow." Will explained before subtly trying to lead Amelia out the the room. "We don't know. We know he was shot, the wounds confirm that but we don't know why it is effecting his body so much. His right lung was popped by a bullet and one of his kidney's were damaged but surgery on the first night fixed most of that. Normally he would have woken up in recovery from the surgery by now but he just hasn't. He's stable though so we'll have to hope for the best."

Amelia Cross It was a nice story about Peter, but Amelia didn't buy it. She wasn't sure if Will had somehow slept through their fight, or if he was trying to make her feel better, but she was confidante Adrian hadn't gone out into the streets alone to apologizes to someone who was safely in hiding. Still she didn't comment on it. She had caused enough conflict already and wasn't about to start another one after just coming back about something so trivial as a possible white lie. She took one last glance at Adrian before allowing Will to lead her out of the room. “Did they check for toxins? Like what Sybil gave me? There has to be something I can do. We can't just wait and hope he wakes up.”She sounded almost desperate. She had lost them their first leader and she was determined not to lose their second as well.

"You sound like Peter did. Always so worried the medical team wouldn't do their job. Yes they checked for toxin. There were signs of the hallucinogen the first day but they cleared out of his system." will explained as he walked out of the room. He didn't seem very panicked or even worried in the slightest. There was so much unknown concerning Adrian's conditions yet Will seemed perfect calm. In fact everyone did. The medical team was sitting in the kitchen on their lunch break, the rest of the troops were playing poker in the bedroom. Granted everyone in the building had some weapon close to them. Hell even Adrian had a machete next to the bed he was in. "Amelia, a few bullet wounds aren't going to kill him. His blood pressure, brain activity, and heart rate are all normal. We don't know why he is still asleep but we can assume he will wake up. We are less worried about if he will wake up, and more worried about what he will be like when he does. In the mean time we proceed forward with the plan he set for us. Gather the materials needed to make a small but powerful bomb, rally a team to take back the Hangar, and then take the tower."

Amelia Cross “I'm sorry Will, I don't mean to doubt you or the medical team. I like being able to fix things. Why are you worried about what he will be like when he wakes up?” She sighed. Machines were easy to fix, easy to predict. People were much more complicated. For the time being it seemed the only thing she could do is try to help with Adrians plan. Looking around the room Amelia was doubtful they could take back the Hanger or take the Tower. They had gotten away knowing Sybils true nature and the collective was likely throwing all of it's resources into protecting those two places. Had he told them what they had found? Had he ever discussed his Father? She would need to be careful about both subjects until she knew. If he hadn't told them about Sybil she assumed he had a reason for doing so. As for his father, well that was easy to understand. “Alright, so where are you in the plan? What do you need?” If she couldn't help him, she could at least support his plan.
