It would've been cool if other characters were in that series (I mean, it was practically a giant fanfiction anyway, so why not just go all out?), but I thought the new outfits in it were kind of ugly. XD;;

Yup, parts of PoL were cut form the US version. Namely Anzu trying to stop the dule between Yuugi and Kaiba.
