New generation ones? The heck LOL
All I know is that there's two different sets of emoticons that are used, some are in the western (USA, England) and others in the east (Japan, China, etc.)
Western ones: :0), :3, : x, stuff like that, they always face sideways
Japanese ones are like ^_^, ^ ^;;, OwO, etc., and they face the front screen
http://club.pep.ne.jp/~hiroette/en/facemarks/list_index.html http://club.pep.ne.jp/~hiroette/en/facemarks/
Those are some Japanese ones...
I dunno anything about the "new generation" of smileys though LOL
Personally I always use OwO, >w<, ^ ^;;, and ;_;. I like TTATT too LOL

Gah! I keep forgetting to put Ria on my favorites folder in my new desktop back in college-land! -forgetful- -in his old laptop back home-
You're welcome, Celeste!
As for dating... I was hanging out with a girl and her best friend when that friend asked why we weren't going out already... >_>;; It was awkward... I think I'd rather live the dating life. Vicariously, of course!
Meh, Nadi just doesn't know if he'd be up for it. Or if he's just attracted to the idea for the concept of having regular company. Which is something he only sees twice a week, for an hour or so... after that, it's always back to the apartment. But I have Mass Effect 2 and a new book on the writings of Nietzsche, so it's not all that bad. NADI ENJOYS THE LIFE OF A MODERN HERMIT!
Heh... I actually wrote an essay on that subject! On the whole being unsure of whether or not to go into the whole relationship and dating thing. Teacher gave me a perfect score! >=3
But, on another note... Considering an international exchange program! Currently on my list is Canada, England, and Spain.
Canada has the European culture that's very open to discussion and is therefore a good setting for a Philosophy major. It's also close enough to home that won't make it too hard to have family over on the holidays. At least, when it's compared to England. >_> Problem is I'd have to stay away from the French sector. I gave up my plans on french courses in favor or German. I'm very attracted to German philosophy, so it's a definite must.
England should be awesome in its own right- I'm very curious to see it and experience a more civil culture. I feel sooo out of place in my homeland... like I was born on the wrong country. Always have. Also gives me the advantage of being a country where English is a first language, so I won't be having all that much of a problem in terms of comunication.
Spain, on the other hand, would be interesting enough. And it's a perfect chance to help improve my already deficient Spanish. Northern Spain is also connected with the rest of Europe; might give me a chance to see fragments of the Roman Empire. ((England also has very well-preserved ruins, thanks to all that mud and rain))
Hmm... indecisive... But I won't be able to go for at least another two years... so I have plenty of time to go over it.

Come to Canada, Nadi! We'd love to have you! Specifically, come to Edmonton! In Alberta! xDD
Seriously though, My friends and I could show you around, and there's not that much french in Alberta, and even so, a lot of my friends are frenchies anyhow, no problem there!
Mind you.. in a couple years I'm going to try to go on an exchange too.. to England We could meet up and become lost together!
Dating.. hmm.. I'm always open to it but rarely pursue If it happens, it happens Though it never lasts long.. I'm a terrible girlfriend «grins»
Plus, I have lots of philosophical friends, Nads. Well, one's in Vancouver for the next two years.. Man, everything is coming in two years.. Sheesh. Pick a new number already!

There's a bit of a problem, though...
I'm a guy that's comfortable in his 90's and 80's when it comes to ambient temperature. Yes, Nadi is your local Ria monitor lizard...
When the temperatures get down to the mid-70s, then it's a little nippy, and possibly uncomfortable. During the rare times it dips down to the 60s, then I have to wear thick clothing like jeans, a jacket, and possibly a second pair of socks.
While I don't mind traveling to somewhere that's cold just so I can walk around with a trenchcoat and a scarf 'a la Englishman in New York', but I fear that I'll just look like a giant ball of wooly apparel.
But again, this is a year or two in the future. I'm thinking about planning this with my best friend (though I don't know if he can afford it) since he's always been itching to go to either Canada or England. I still have to work on getting transfered to another campus, see if they have the same international program (which they should...) and then work on raising my GPA by a full point, just to be safe.
