They're remaking the first game for Vita, yes. ^^ Victory came out recently in Euprope, and is coming out tomorrow in NA.
Speaking of Neptunia, they also put out a whole bunch of extras yesterday, including Giclees, posters, and pins. Now some people are hoping for plushies of some kind to go with it. XD

You find his corpse near the entrance to the painted world. How do you think he died? I've heard most say that he was guarding the painting. Others say he fell from the paths on the upper floor.

This is a theory I saw in GameFaqs forums. Sounds pretty legit.
I'm pretty sure he had some sort of epic battle with Priscilla to force her into the painting and was mortally wounded during the process, but lived on for hundreds of years afterwords before the wound finally caused his death. It was at this point that the order of the Painting Guardians was established to guard his corpse. The whole "protect the painting" was just a ruse/excuse to guard Tarkus' place of death.
