Lord of Armageddon Allegro Lord of Armageddon Allegro TtheHero Allegro Guys, i'm terrified for my friends in New Orleans. What's the problem?
...Is it weather related?Gustav related, yes. n00b- It was ALWAYS that strong, the strongest part of it was just southwest of you. The problem is that NO is positioned EXACTLY where it shouldn't be, just northeast of the projected eye of the storm. Since the Hurricane rotates counter clockwise, that area is going to get strong winds that haven't had to cross land. Wait...New Orleans is going to get hit again? How exactly bad is the hurricane going to be? I don't watch the news, so I don't know anything about this. sweatdrop At least as bad as Katrina. Check the Weather Channel or Wikipedia or google news or SOMETHING. God, it's sad you guys didn't know about it. neutral When is it going to hit and shouldn't they be evacuating the city? Tomorrow morning, and the evacuation started on Friday.

Lord of Armageddon Man...New Orleans has the worst of luck when it comes to these things... Well the city IS built inside a valley with no more swamps to buffer it.

l-Kriel-l Allegro At least as bad as Katrina. Tell me about it. I was tearing down houses in Mississippi that had water damage from Katrina in March. 3 years later. Admittedly, there's a clearly established chain of command for rescue efforts this time, so FEMA won't totally ******** the dog this time. I may only wind up doing a semester and go join my teammates down in New Orleans this spring.

Yeah...that would pretty much do it... (And I already knew that...no offense.) And it is better that they're doing an evacuation better this time...I guess after Katrina...you learn.

Decavolty I dont mean to open a can of worms, but why hasnt the city been moved up a few miles? Moving the city isn't an option to the residents. They're incredibly proud of their city. The solution is to start helping to fix the swamplands around the city so that they'll be able to take more of the water from the storm. LoA- If you knew that, then you know it's not luck.
