Weak Agnotisticism FTW!
For those of you who don't know "Weak Agnosticism" refers to a specific type of agnostic, basically it means this;
The view that the existence or nonexistence of any deities is currently unknown but is not necessarily unknowable, therefore one will withhold judgment until/if any evidence is available. A weak agnostic would say, "I don't know whether any deities exist or not, but maybe one day when there is evidence we can find something out."
It basically means I don't follow any religion, I have an open mind to anything and believe that it may be possible for us to really know what's out there, if any someday.
Here are just some of my personal views on religion, it's fine if you don't agree just don't flip your s**t at me.
-Religion has been very bad to society and has caused more wars, pain and suffering than anything else. I know there are people who did things heroic because of it and have given themselves hope in their time of need but it seems when you look at the course of history it has been much more bad than good, thus the opposite for which it was intended.
-The very fact that plenty of atheists live moral lives indicates that being religious or believing in a god is not necessary for being a good person.
-We are social animals. We work with each other, we develop interpersonal relationships, we rely on each other, etc. We’ve developed to be this way as a species. It’s no wonder we display empathy for each other. This starts to create the foundation for our laws and personal morals. I don’t want to be stolen from and neither do you. Same for being killed, being abused, etc. As a society we have learned that certain behaviors make us happier and better off as a whole. The golden rule is not limited to religion. We come about it naturally.
-Now this last statement is not meant to offend anyone or imply anything but out of all the deep-believing christians/catholics that I've talked to, not one of them have ever agreed to the following statement.
Me - "Alright, just hear me out for a second. Remember how Hitler was crazy but was able to get an entire nation to believe in him and follow his ideals?"
Christian/Catholic - "Yes."
Me - "Okay now is it possible that someone many, many years ago when humanity was still very gullible that a person could have developed a way of living and expressed this view to others and got them to believe in it as well?"
Christian/Catholic - "No!"
Me - "So you really don't think there was even the slightest possibility? Not 1 in a billion or anything."
Christian/Catholic - "Nope."
Me - "Tell me, are you allowed to follow any other religions?"
Christian/Catholic - "No."
Me - "So everyone whose not christian/catholic goes to hell?"
Christian/Catholic - "Well...yeah."
Me - "So say for example if there was an innocent baby born in India or something and was raised hindu from the time they were born and grew up believing in that and doesn't really know anything different would go to hell for that?"
Christian/Catholic - "Yeah."
Me - stare
