"Oh I'm sure it's that ghost I never helped you explain, thus magically freeing us from this horribly irritating nightmare," he said with a wry grin. Before he could taunt further, wait for Jounouchi to regain enough of his pride to throw back a retort of his own, or sit bored in uncomfortable silence, the elevator restarted. True it seemed to climb up even slower than before, but it was moving nonetheless. Hallelujah, he thought, closing his eyes and leaning his head back against the wall. Maybe they'd get out of this building sometime in the next month after all.

"Oh, it's starting again, I'm so glad!" Jounouchi immediately sighed in relief, no longer caring to respond angrily to Kaiba's comment. The elevator resuming its movement was far more important, after all, so he just relaxed his posture, thanking whatever being was up there that they had another chance to get out of this damned building.

A few moments - quite a few moments - later they finally reached the rooftop. There was a light chime followed by the opening of the doors. Seto stood and strolled confidently out into the night air, enjoying the breeze for a bit before moving towards the generator. While the security in his building was max, the security for this metal box was not. He made short work of the padlock, before tossing the busted piece to the ground and throwing the door open. Giving the machinery before him only a cursory glance he began to fumble inside the box. True, he had nil experience with generators, but he was a technological wiz, how hard could this be?

Jounouchi had piratically pranced out of the elevator, he was so happy to breathe fresh air again. After taking in his fill, he glanced over at Kaiba, just getting the generator opened. He approached the other man from behind, poking his head out over the other's shoulder to get a look at the generator, "...you sure you know what you're doing? I mean... this looks an awful lot like a car engine, and that's definitely not what I would do to a car engine... unless I was trying to make it stop working that is." he chuckled, in too good of a mood now to really worry if Kaiba was doing this right or not.

Seto turned briefly to toss a withering glare in Jounouchi's direction, promptly getting the still chipper blond to back up a bit, before returning his attention to the generator. "For one," he said icily, "a generator would be more analogous to a battery than an engine. And secondly, shut up." He didn't bother to look back to see the amusement he was certain would be dancing across the other man's face, given his know it all reputation didn't usually leave him just shutting down an argument. It was true though, he wasn't certain what he was doing. I mean this had all been a lark, something to do besides sit in a dark abandoned building awaiting morning. What a shame that his security system was so state of the art, rendering a nighttime staff virtually useless (and thus, out of the budget).

Absentmindedly fiddling with the panels - something he probably wouldn't do with a machine he knew how to operate, and thus really shouldn't do with unknown equipment - he accidentally brushed against an open ended wire, sliding it against exposed circuitry. The effect was instantaneous. One moment he was idling around, bored out of his mind, the next he was screaming in shock, flying backwards through the air halfway across the roof. If it had happened to anyone other than him he'd be pondering on how unrealistic the whole scenario was, I mean how often are people actually hurled through the air by electric currents? However, it had happened to him, so he was rather distracted by the pulsing pain where his skull had collided with the concrete, and the burning sensation in his fingers. If he could move he'd have been able to seen that almost all ten digits and parts of his palm were scorched black. No permanent cosmetic damage, although he had charred off several lairs of skin. The more pressing concerns at the moment were most likely head trauma, and possibly the potential of cardiac arrest. The energy that had snapped through his system had definitely sets his heart pumping in an irregular pattern, this could be problematic.

However electrical burns, concussions and other miscellaneous major and minor injuries weren't really Seto's concern right now. Even the fact that he was pretty sure he couldn't feel his legs wasn't that much of a bother at the moment. Mainly, he was pissed that he had so obviously screwed up. Because that sort of maybe made Jounouchi right, and that he really couldn't stand. He'd have to wait until later to berate himself about that, assuming his heart didn't give out on him of course.

((Ugh, sorry haven't been posting much lately. Finals and all that jazz. Things are finishing up now though, so then I'll probably be on more for summer. ^^))

"Sh-s**t, Kaiba...!!" Jounouchi's eyes went wide as he turned his head in sync with Kaiba's body, watching it hit the ground a ways back.
He quickly ran over to the other man, looking him over for any serious injuries. "You idiot..." he sighed, "Man, I was just joking around, but you really didn't know what you were doing!" he huffed, "Even I'm not stupid enough to mess with electrical equipment that I have no idea about." he blinked as he realized he was implying his own stupidity there, but shook his head, deciding to ignore that.
"Either way..." he mumbled. Kaiba didn't look too absolutely horrible, but he seemed to have been burned, and looked to be in shock (no pun intended). He did have to keep himself from laughing at how Kaiba's hair seemed to be standing up from the static though, "Better make sure you're okay. Are you understanding what I'm saying?" he figured that was the first step; make sure the other was clearheaded enough to comprehend things.

Seto felt like he was in that kid's show, the one where all the adults don't actually speak in words, but produce off key warbles. That's about all he could pick up from the blond mop leaning over him. Although he faintly perceived the words "I'm" and "stupid," which made him smile a bit, internally of course. He hardly had the muscle control to pull that off at the moment.

Upon picking up a twitch in Jounouchi's own visage, he was immediately affronted. How dare he laugh at his obvious pain and suffering?

Dizzy and exhausted, he attempted to push himself into a sitting position, instantly flopping painfully back to the ground. Palms slapping against the ground, a stabbing pain shot from his finger tips through his spine. "Ouu-ch," he gasped, a low strangled whisper.

((It's fine, busy I understand. Good luck with finals!))

"Um... maybe you shouldn't try to get up for a bit..." Jounouchi glanced at Kaiba nervously, wishing he was better at treating such uncommon injuries. As fate would have it, he had had plenty of experience with getting shocked himself, but now that he thought back, he hadn't taken any measures to treat himself afterward, just kind of shrugging it off in the end. Now he regretted that.
At the very least, if he could find some cool water for the burn or something... but there was nothing up here. Just cold morning air. "...here, I guess just... lay here for a minute and try to regain your composure..." Jounouchi mumbled awkwardly, suddenly removing his coat. He lay it over Kaiba's torso, looking away without another word, hoping that would at least help with the shock somewhat.

((Thanks.))

Seto had shut his eyes after collapsing again, but he lifted one lid just a fraction when he felt a light weight atop his chest. He was instantly assailed by an unnervingly familiar, heady scent. Ugh, why can't he just go away, Seto thought bitterly. He was sick of repeatedly falling into his debt. Sure Jounouchi had experienced his own collapse on occasion tonight, but not quite at the same level he himself had.

Refusing to allow the image of weakness to persist - even if it killed him - Seto pushed himself to a sitting position in one quick, fluid motion. The jacket fell to his lap and he bit his lip to keep from screaming in agony. Choking back the bile in his throat, trying to push through the dizzy spill, he put one battered hand to the concrete and attempted to push himself vertical.

((Random FYI, you probably don't want to run cold water over it. I mean it depends on the degree of the burn. First degrees aren't that severe (usually that's something such as a sunburn), more a reddening of the skin, and in that case cool water - no ice - is ok. Now if you have blackened skin, that's obviously a third degree burn. You want to wrap it loosely and immediately seek medical attention. Do not put water on it, also, do not remove anything - clothing, etc - stuck to the burnt skin. Just wrap over it and wait for medical attention. And there is your Lifeguarding FAQ moment for the day. Thank God I've only ever gotten first degrees around the pool. xd

Although playing with artistic license, and the lack of medics on the roof, I'll of course play it down. Just mentioning it in case you ever do encounter a real burn victim.

Coat thing is good though, you do want to keep a burn victim warm. ^_^))

"Kaiba-" Jounouchi blinked in surprise, backing away slightly for a moment as a reaction to the sudden movement, then frowning to himself, "Seriously, what the hell?!" he now huffed to himself, "You got pretty banged up, and you're obviously still not completely there in the head, so just forget trying to get up right now!" Seriously, he thought Kaiba was supposed to be intelligent!
Deciding he didn't want to end up stuck here with an unconscious guy, Jounouchi suddenly leaned towards the other man, placing his hands on his shoulders and firmly pushing the other back down to at least a sitting position, "Stop being stubborn and just rest for a few minutes at least!"

((Ahaha, that's awesome, I love learning useful medical advise. XD Heehee, but if I didn't know that burn thing, then chances are Jounouchi wouldn't either, considering he had already noted he didn't know how to treat those types of injuries. So I'll let him go on continue wishing they had water for the burn. Not like he's gonna get it anyway.
Yay for him at least doing the jacket thing right though!))

He absolutely hated being told what to do, even implicitly, even for his own good. Even worse, was when the imposing force decided to use physical means to exert their will over him. Being shoved to the ground to keep from hurting himself most definitely violated each one of these precepts. Of course he was not going to easily take that. Pushing Jounouchi away, he growled something to the effect of, "m fye" and quickly rose to his feet.

Of course that proved mostly ineffectual and he almost immediately crashed back down to his knees. The weight of his torso bearing down on such a precarious position had his forehead soon crashing back to the concrete as well. He sighed, this was just getting ridiculous.

((Haha, all good, like I said I'm going to use artistic license in this myself, but as I'm re-certifying in CPR tomorrow I've got random info flowing that I figured I'd share. Random medical info is never a bad thing to know.))

"For the love of-" Jounouchi growled out, throwing his arms up into the air in frustration, "What the hell is wrong with you?!" he proceeded to lean towards the CEO again, quickly helping him get his face off the ground.
"Here just... lay on my jacket if you don't want it over you." he proceeded to take the garment and bunch it up into a makeshift pillow, helping (or rather, forcing) Kaiba upright for a moment, then down onto the coat. "Now I'm serious. As much of a jerk as you are, I don't wanna see you make your injuries worse, so if you try to get up again, I'll resort to sitting on you to make you stop. Got it?" he finished in a no-nonsense manner.

((Yes, never a bad thing to learn such information. :3))

If he had the strength to do so he would have punched Jounouchi, the arrogant a*****e (the irony of such a thought escaping him completely). He did not want help, he did not want to take it easy, he did not want to pay attention to the fact that he was exacerbating his injuries. He just wanted to fix the damn generator, get the hell out of his building, and get home to his brother before the kid decided to disown him and find a better family. A brother who didn't repeatedly blow him off for work, spending their free time trapped in possessed buildings. Not that he truly believed the building was possessed, because of course such things didn't really happen.

Deciding Jounouchi was not only annoying, but completely full of it, Seto once again shoved him back and tried to get up. Nobody was really going to sit on someone just to make them lay down, that would just be ridiculous.
PostPosted: Tue May 11, 2010 5:23 pm

However, Kaiba was most certainly still not thinking completely clearly, because if he was, he would've realized that if Jounouchi was any one thing, it was ridiculous. The blond didn't waste any time in lunging towards Kaiba, lightly pushing him back down onto the jacket before climbing on top of him, straddling the man stubbornly.
"I can't believe you're still not listening." he huffed, "Honestly, you brought this on yourself." he said as he glared down at the other boy, arms crossed childishly.

What, the, ********> Seto thought angrily. He was sitting on him, he was actually sitting on him. Honestly, what kind of person considers straddling someone to be a problem solution? Moreover, he was much too heavy for Seto to just shove off. At least from this position in his current condition he was.

"Get off me!" he growled, eyes narrowed and face contorted into an expression that he hoped made his feelings of "or else you will regret this for the rest of your miserable life," quite clear.
