Brandon frowned when he didn't see anything wrong but he didn't exactly know a lot about medicine or health so something very well could have been wrong, and obvious, and he would never know. Releasing her shoulders, he stood up with her but kept close in case she fell. He knew how badly head injuries could affect someone's balance. He didn't say anything, but that was no surprise. In fact, he couldn't even remember the last time he'd spoken. Instead, he just watched her, making sure she didn't stumble and that she didn't try to go after the horse. That guy or not, he couldn't let her leave.
Violetta's father shook his head. "No," he said. "If she finds a man she wishes to be with, I will give them my blessing, but I will not force her to marry someone. That would only make her current condition worse." He would know. Growing up, he'd come across that exact situation. The woman had become very depressed and, eventually, had hung herself. He could not stand the thought of that happening to his darling daughter.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart?Getting up as well, she placed her hand against the wall before she was sure she had her balance. She had to go after Midnight, who knew what would happen if he wasn't caught. Glancing over her shoulder, she guessed that Brandon was going to follow her.. why was he here anyway? Seeing her hat and the crumbled letter that she had written she shook her head. "You should have let me leave." she whispered before she started to walk down the path that the horse had gone down, stumbling once but she didn't fall. For mine seems to have been destroyed. James ate slowly as he watched his former father-in-law. "And what if she wishes to be with the slave?" he asked, wondering how far he was willing to go with this. He blinked when a maid entered the room and slowly walked up to Violetta's father before announcing. "Violetta has run off. I saw her going to the stables.." the maid obviously had more to say but she wasn't going to say in his presence. James pushed his chair back and got up.

Brandon watched Violetta steady herself, having to force himself not to just pick her up and carry her inside. When she shook her head, he followed her gaze, spotting the hat and note that he'd dropped earlier. However, he didn't go to pick them up, not wanting to leave her side. When she said he should have let her leave, he shook his head. He couldn't do that. As she started down the trail the horse had gone and stumbled, though didn't fall, that made up his mind. Stepping forward, he gently grabbed her arm and wrapped it around the back of his neck before lifting her up and carrying her back towards the house. She needed to have someone take a look at her and make sure she didn't have any damage to her head for she surely wasn't thinking straight.
Violetta's father scoffed, again. "Really James, are you that daft? Falling for a slave. Ha! That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." He cut off another piece of his steak and was about to put it in his mouth when a maid suddenly entered. He frowned, knowing that every servant and slave of his knew to knock before entering when he was with company. However, the maid's announcement stopped any lecture before it could leave his throat. "What!" He slammed his knife and fork down, getting up so suddenly that his chair toppled back. Ignoring James and the maid, he hurried out of the dinning room, making his way to the back door and ripping it open only to see Violetta being carried back towards the house by the new slave.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart?"What are you doing?" she asked him as he wrapped her arm around his neck. She didn't protest though, having no idea what he was doing until she was in his arms. Blinking, she looked down at the ground. "You're going the wrong way." She reached out behind him, attempting to grab hold some of the branches so that she could stop him. "Put me down." she whined, obviously determined on getting to the horse. "I can't leave Midnight out there all by himself besides, I don't want to go home." she was rambling now which was odd for her, but her words were all true.
Turning her head around to look at where he was taking her, she soon realized he was taking her home. "No, don't do this." she told him before seeing her father ripping the door open. Lowering her head, she knew she was probably going to get a lecture now. Burying her face in Brandon's shoulder she wrapped her arms around his neck tightly, but not tight enough for him not to be able to breath. "Save me." she whispered softly into his ear. For mine seems to have been destroyed. James shook his head, he knew anything was possible with Violetta. He followed after the man though he had a little bit of trouble keeping up with him. The maid was saying something after them but then stopped, knowing that he was useless. Looking over the man's shoulder, he saw Violetta in the arms of the slave he despised. Narrowing his eyes, he then disappeared in the shadows, he would come back later but for now he was going to leave.

Brandon, like always, did not answer her questions. He never did and never would. She'd understand that some day. When she tried to reach to grab hold of a branch, he stepped away from any trees and bushes. They were going back inside whether she liked it or not. It was for her own good. When she mentioned the horse, he told himself that, once she was taken care of, he would go looking for the horse himself. When she told him not to do it, he glanced down at her before movement caught his attention. He looked back up and his eyes widened as the door opened and he saw his master standing there. In his years as a slave, he'd come to be able to read people's expression. He could easily see anger there but also fear too. He brought himself to a halt and looked down at Violetta again when he felt her bury her face in his neck. At her whisper, he wished he could help her but he couldn't, not against her father, his master. Instead, he pressed his cheek against the side of her head in silent support. Bringing his gaze back up again, he looked past his approaching master to where that man from earlier stood before disappearing into the shadows. He held back from glaring, knowing his master might mistake the glare to be directed at him. When the man finally arrived, he started questioning his daughter quickly, asking her what she thought she was doing, why she even considered running away, if she was alright and such. ((I got to go ): ))

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart?Violetta sighed softly when Brandon placed his cheek against her head. It comforted her, but only slightly since she knew that she would most likely get locked up in the house after he attempt to run off. Shivering slightly, she slowly looked over at her father, letting go of Brandon's neck for now. "I was running away, escaping from James. I don't want to see him anymore." she said softly, not snapping back at her father or yelling like she usually did since she had a short temper. "I'm fine." she smiled softly. "Midnight ran off.." she knew her father knew about that horse. She didn't want to tell her father about her injury though, doctors had always scared her since she was a child. Perhaps she was being foolish but she didn't think so. "I'm sorry.." she added.
"May I go up to my room?" she asked gently prying Brandon's fingers from her frame so that he would set her down. Her eyes lifted up from the ground to look at her father. She hoped he would understand her actions without giving her too much trouble about it. She winced slightly when the pain on her head became slightly unbearable but she hoped that no one noticed. Violetta would be willing to make another attempt to run off if her father decided to bring a doctor in. For mine seems to have been destroyed. ((Aww...=( bye))

Brandon pulled his head back as Violetta spoke to her father. When he felt her shiver, he tightened his grip, even more so when she let go of his neck, though he made sure not to hurt her. He tilted his head slightly when she mentioned someone named James. He assumed that was the man that had been with them in the stables earlier. He frowned, however, when she said she was fine. She wasn't fine. She'd hit her head on the stables door. His self-induced silence really annoyed him sometimes. When she started prying his fingers away from her, he carefully set her back on her feet, though kept close in case she stumbled. Looking over at Violetta's father, he watched the man sigh and nod. "Of course," he said. "And you don't have to worry about James anymore, I promise." Turning to Brandon, the man said, "Go after the horse." Brandon frowned again, looking from his master to Violetta then in the direction the horse had gone and back to his master. After a few seconds, he hesitantly went after the horse.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? She glanced up at Brandon since he was a bit taller than her and gave him a small smile. Hearing her father mention James, she lowered her gaze and nodded her head. "Thank you." she said softly. Perhaps she had gotten back her manners ever since she had hit her head against the stables... "Wait." she told her father before gently grabbing onto Brandon's arm. "He doesn't know the land that well. Get Neil to do it, he's been here for a while and he's worked with the horses before." she looked at her father with a slightly pleading gaze.
Brandon had brought her back after all, the least her father could do was let him go into the house after this instead of going after the runaway horse. Biting her lip, she lowered her head this time, waiting for a response from her father.

Brandon stopped when he felt a soft grip on his arm. Turning back, he was surprised to see it was Violetta. He tilted his head, confused, but then understood when she spoke to her father. At the name Neil, he remembered one of the slaves was named Neil, and that, apparently, he thought Violetta was in love with him. Looking over to his master, he saw that the man was considering Violetta's words. Slowly, the man nodded. "Very well," he said. He turned to Brandon to speak but then remembered and turned back to Violetta. "Find one of the slaves to send the message onto him." Neil was an odd one. He was never where a person expected him to be, unless he'd been given a job. It was always a hassle trying to find him if he didn't have a job assigned to him.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? She sighed before nodding her head. Hopefully she wouldn't stumble or fall on her way there. Walking past her father as she let go of Brandon, she knew she now had to find Neil if she wanted to get Midnight back. Opening the door slowly, she leaned against it for a moment as her vision blurred before she continued as everything was just fine. Biting her lip, she decided to go to his room first, hoping that he could be there.
Rubbing her arm, she stayed close to the wall in case she felt like she was going to faint or something along those lines. It took her a few seconds before she remembered which door was his. Didn't he have a room mate or something? She couldn't remember. Knocking on the door, that was habit of hers, she pressed her ear against the door, listening for footsteps. "Neil?" she called out, wondering if he was asleep. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Brandon kept a close eye on Violetta, following after her as she made her way back into the house. He hardly noticed her releasing his arm though it felt back to its normal place at his side. When she opened the door, he noticed her lean against the frame for a moment. He stepped forward, watching her closely. He couldn't see anything wrong but he knew not all injuries were visible. But then she continued on as if nothing was wrong. Still, he kept that little note in his mind. As they walked down the halls, he kept close to her in case she stumbled. In fact, if she took a step back, she'd run into him. He noticed how close she was walking to the wall and that didn't help to reassure him that she was fine. When they reached a certain door, he stopped beside her. After she'd knocked, he heard the sound of footsteps inside before the door opened. Niel's head poked out, his hair ruffled and eyes blurry from sleep. However, when he saw who stood before him, he straightened up and woke up immediately. "Mistress! What can I do for you?" Neil asked enthusiastically. Perhaps too enthusiastically. Brandon rolled his eyes as Neil's enthusiasm.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? For a moment she thought she heard footsteps behind her but then she realized it was probably just Neil. Moving her head from the door, she smiled, amused but Neil's appearance right until he suddenly became energetic. "Umm." for a moment she forgot what she had come here for since he had changed so suddenly. Taking a small step back, she blinked and her eyes widened since her back was against someone's torso. Looking up, she realized it was Brandon and her cheeks flushed with color. "Uh.." she took a step to the side quickly, feeling a bit sheepish as she lowered her head. "The horse.. Midnight.." she paused for a moment, staring at the door now, embarrassed. "He ran off.. I was hoping you would be able to find him." she said in a low voice. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Brandon couldn't believe this idiot. Neil was a slave, the same as him, did he honestly think Violetta could have any feelings for him? It was amazing she even knew his name. After all, he was just a house slave. He wasn't her personal slave like Brandon was. He wasn't one of the master's personal slaves. He really had nothing to do with Violetta or her father. What made Neil think he held Violetta's affections? Well, aside from that bump to the head. He blinked when Violetta took a step back and ran into him before looking up, blushing and taking a step to the side. He raised an eyebrow, confused about her embarrassment, but didn't think too hard on it. When she addressed Neil, the slave nodded. "Of course, Mistress," he said. "I live to please." It took all of Brandon's self-control not to scoff or gag. This guy was laying it on pretty thick, even for him.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart?Biting her lip, she then glanced over at Neil as he spoke. She didn't realize how formal he was being at the moment. "Yeah.. thanks." she said before she nodded her head. Moving away from him, she headed back towards the stairs that lead up to the second floor where her room was. Why was she blushing? Well, she was usually so collected but for some reason she was acting strange lately. Was it because of the bump? Maybe.. or it might just be because of Brandon but she would never admit to that if it was true. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Brandon shot a glare at Neil before following his mistress away. He didn't like Neil. The guy was crazy if he thought he stood a chance with Violetta, and crazy people, he'd learned, were dangerous. Therefore, Neil was dangerous and he had to keep the slave away from Violetta. Following his mistress up the stairs, he noticed a slight tinge to her face and realized that he was probably walking too close to her side and put himself an extra step behind her. Slaves did not walk at their master's, or mistress's, side. With that thought, he forgot about his curiosity of her blush. ((I got to go))
