[Z_] and Eclipse

[Just Before An Eclipse]

((Oh god, I'm really sorry.))

Leona scanned the various obstacles in her path as she ran away. Trees were easily avoided, but in her race, she didn't see the briars until she ran through them. She cried out, but quickly covered it with laughing, as to make sure he wasn't worried. Spotting where a tree had fallen, taking its great roots with it, she ran up its side, hiding in the branches. She didn't understand it. This tree had everything going for it, yet it truly was dead. Distracted from her original plan of bombarding him with leaves as he passed, she touched the bark trying to figure out what had killed it.

Avin stopped at the tree, looking to Leona. "What's the problem?" He asked, sitting against the tree, his head hung. He took a deep breath to regain his composure. He was used to fighting, but chasing was something he hadn't done in a while and it really took it's toll. After a few more deep breaths he stood, stepping away from the tree, examining the rotting trunk.

Leona didn't recognize the fact she could possibly have been acting strange. Except for her makeshift family, she avoided most people (aside from their pockets.) Therefore she knew to give into her different impulses, without derision. Her voice was sad as she spoke, almost lost. "It...is dead." Her hand was on its bark as if she was trying to bring it back. Turning to look at her companion, her eyes wide, she asked dolefully, "Why?" It was in a forest, not fighting for its life on the cold streets of the city. It should have lived right?

Avin studied the tree then the girl. Had she really never seen something like this? Was it really so hard to understand? He shook his head, looking back to the tree and placing a hand upon it's trunk. "As with anything living, trees too must eventually die," He shrugged dropping his hand. "Such is life," He half smiled, placing a hand on her shoulder. "That is," he smirked, "If you really believe in that kind of s**t."
