Lu & Kirk

“If you consider six foot tall short, I am not sure I want to see what you consider tall,” Lyra replied lightly. A family of skinny giants? Built giants? Curvy giants? She brushed her hair back over an ear and paused, looking over KO. Well, had they meet before?

Not on the contestant circuit, she would have remembered that hair and those eyes if he had. Even if he was one of the smart contestants that knows if they want any peace and quiet off the stage, you don’t go on the stage as yourself. She wore a black wig, sprayed tanned a soft gold, and had a bit more of a curve.

Hmm. She smiled brightly. “It is a pleasure Kirk, have you been enjoying the festival? Done a bit of fishing?” Lyra couldn’t quite place his face. “I don’t think you run in my circle, but you look so familiar. A friend of my brother perhaps? Alek does tend to have many friends, I can never get all their names straight.”

Clarity flickered, her ears perked in alertness before weaving in and out of the crowd and pressed against her trainers side, giving a eeriee “Esssss,” at the pair, tail flickering back and forth.

Shoyo and Dith

“Contests are much better in real time. My sister contests eevees and their evolutions. She breeds them too. She’s good at what she does.” And he did love his Sideways so much. The Flareon was smart, a pain in his a** but he did love him in all his glory.

And that was and espeon, and it could have been Clarity. “I think I’m going to have to save some poor sap from my sister. If you would excuse me?” Lex beamed and slipped away into the crowd. Now, that espeon had escaped towards the jetty, docks, whatever it was called.

And he was going to feel a bit underdress, in his dark blue jeans, cheap flip-flops, and old band shirt. Lyra didn’t dress cheap, if that was her.

Zacharie, Andre

What? Toting around medicine because you might come in contact with something you're deathly allergic to? Pah! Vincent lived on the edge, he wasn't a pansy that carried around the very necessary medication he had been told by doctors he should always have on him! ...Besides, Andre always brought it. After that one incident involving an unruly client needing to be escorted out of Andre's business, kicking and shattering the fancy fish tank they used to have up front, and Vincent smartly trying to chuck clams at their client... well, Andre usually kept his medication nearby. And also no longer kept shellfish in his office.

"It matters! Andreee, you know how awkward it is, tryin' to do cute s**t with you and it bein' awkward because you're one of those conformin' righties. And you didn't think it mattered that my adorable little-bro-in-law was left-handed... Rude, man!" Vincent laughed happily, then followed Zacharie to help him set up. "A'right, kiddo. That packs big enough you should have everything, right? Right! And because you Duboises are nitpicky overachievers- er, well, at least you look like an overachiever-" Vincent flashed a smile at Andre, "I'm guessin' you don't want to use one of those poles that're all pre-set up." Man, Vincent felt pretty cool; he never thought he'd get to bond over fishing with his little brother. Well, Zacharie wasn't his little brother... but he might as well be. Especially since he was left-handed!

Shoyo & Lex

Dith nodded at Shoyo. "Well that's what I would do, but it was... ahaha, shall we say a while between me getting my first pokemon," he gestured at Viktor, "and getting another... about thirty eight years I think, and I don't recommend you waiting so long! I guess just go with what feels right and if the chance to catch a pokemon you think is cool comes up, go for it!"

Oh, and Lex was off; Dith waved to him with a little grin, clocking where he was heading and thus noticing a fellow large person. The young man looked nearly as big as he was, might even be as tall as he was! Wow, now that was a rarity. "Woah," Dith blinked, and turned back to Shoyo, "it looks like somebody let all of us big people out tonight."

Lyra, Lu

"Sorry Lu, I didn't mean to startle you; bad habit," KO smiled.

"And yes," he nodded to Lyra, "I caught myself a Luvdisc too as it happens; cute little thing, I think I'll keep it in a tank in my room...." Alek? Oooooh, so that was it, a family resemblance? He hadn't known Lex well back in the days of Galactic, not that well anyway, but he supposed it was possible that he had run into his sister at some point. "I think we might have run into one another, a long time ago now though," KO nodded to Lyra. "If I'm right, I know your brother. We used to do some work together and we've recently run into one another again." He never had worked out how much Lex told his sister... hopefully not too much for her good health.

Lex, Dith

"Ohh, like volleyball matches!" Shoyo followed. "Videos are cool, but watching in person is like whoooa! ...Or that's what I've heard." He'd never quite had the luck to see a game in person, though he personally had no gripes about watching the matches online.

Thirty-eight years, that was... a long time, and Shoyo's expression reflected his wonder at the idea. "That's like, twice as long as I am old! Or more! I can't even imagine that long!" he exclaimed. "Come to think of it, though, my school has a pokemon course - the kind where you only have to go to class every now and then - so maybe I'll look at that some more... Mom didn't like the idea, but if I catch another pokemon, maybe she'll consider it again!" After all, if he had two pokemon, one that he even caught on his own, then he would definitely be a bonafide trainer.

And then Lex was departing, and so Shoyo waved an arm energetically, "Okay, see you around!" He looked to Dima again as the large man spoke, then back in the direction Lex was headed, and once again his face was bright with admiration. "Whoa! Are the people here just really tall or something?!"

Shoyo

"I don't know," Dith replied, peering over at Lu whilst trying not to look like he was looking. "I'm not from around here though," he continued, turning back to Shoyo because it was rude to stare; he'd being pondering going over to say hello but what was kind of weird too right? Hello! We both appear to be large! How is that working out for you? Noooooooo.

"Oh, and yes!" Dith nodded to Shoyo. "A formal class sounds good to me, you can never learn too much after all. If you had another pokemon it would make sense for her to allow you to go, or I think it would. I mean surely if you have them you need to learn about how to care for and work with them best, right? And here where training is quite common, and getting more popular now the league is here, it is uh... well I guess you could claim it's a useful cultural skill or something." Maybe that would work, or maybe his brain was just fizzing with over-tiredness and practically anything would seem like genius. Food certainly sounded genius.

Dith

"Oh," he frowned contemplatively, "maybe it's just a coincidence then..." That was a little bit disappointing. It was a lot more exciting to imagine that the whole region was filled with two-meter-tall volleyball superstars - or, he supposed it was a bit much to expect that there would be so many very tall individuals who were also interested in team sports. It was such a waste if they weren't, though!

"Yeah!" he agreed, further kindled by the positive reaction to his idea. "Dad's all," he folded his arms across his chest and dropped his voice a couple octaves, wearing an expression of exaggerated disapproval, "'You need to think more seriously about your future,' and stuff, but if you can get good enough with pokemon, that can be a career too! Especially since the League is here and there are trainers all around!" It wasn't Kanto, sure - there were no gyms and no champion and no promise of worldwide renown - but it was a training region, and if he could become a trainer, then he could become an ace trainer!

Alright, so Lu didn't want to run off when KO had just shown up, but it seemed him and Lyra might know each other a little and Lu wasn't sure what to say to them. Wow! I know you both, and you know each other, that's so cool! ...Nah. That'd be weird. Lu just wanted to find himself a sunhat. "E-er, sunhat...- I mean, I was going to look for a hat. You should show me your Luvdisc s-sometime, K- Kirk. Maybe it'll get along with mine, haha... so, yeah."

Without a trace of tact, Lu scurried away and got down to looking for a hat. Instead, he saw... wow. That guy was tall. Another tall person! Like, at least as tall as Lu! That meant he must be a really nice guy; Lu didn't know very many mean tall people. Maybe this tall guy could point him in the direction of a sunhat stand. So, he ambled over to the tall guy and the tripping hazard- sorry, kid he was talking to. Tall guy wasn't a pretty girl, and wasn't his roommate in Rocket, so he was a little less intimidating to talk to.

"Er, hello." He started as he walked up, "I-I was wondering if you might have seen anywhere selling sunhats." A perfect cover for simply wanting to talk to another tall person(and his small companion kid).

Shoyo

Suddenly breaking the normal bustle of the festive around, blending almost seamlessly with the crashing of the ocean waves along the beach in the distance... only this was closer... a lot closer, and only getting closer!

There was a solid -THUMP- as something made an impact with Shoyo's back, and a rustle of massively out stretching wings collapsed around him for a few seconds, as whatever was now clinging to him repositioned its grip with a series of shrikes and chirping.

In a matter of seconds, the creature seemed satisfied, and with a new out reach of wings that started beating rapidly against the sky, the boy was suddenly pulled into the sky as a massive brown bat took off with him.

The trip would last very long however, as he was simply dropped back down into the sand several yards away, at the brown boots of a tall lanky figure who looked fairly surprised, with wide mossy colored eyes to have someone suddenly dropped down in front of her by her partner bat.
"Mmm... Imp, you really need to start knowing how to tell red heads apart. This one's way to tiny!"

Dith, Lu > Ray

There was some other guy walking over - another two-meter giant, though this one looked kind of... scary - and Shoyo, unnerved, reflexively began to sidle away to remove himself from the man's shadow in case he was coming over to stir up trouble or try to establish dominance over Dima or something. In the midst of this, as Shoyo began to process something about sunhats, something collided with his back, knocking the breath out of him with an unceremonious "guhf."

Suddenly he was very high up, even higher up than he could achieve on his own. For just a second his expression was aglow in astonishment and awe, and then he realized that he had absolutely no control over his current situation and the whole thing became significantly less cool.

Fortunately it didn't last terribly long, and the child that was deposited upon the ground was loud and flailing, incensed further by the words of the person at his destination. "Hey, what's the big idea?! You trying to pick a fight or something?!"

"Yeah, generally." The lanky person replied to his question with a light shrug, though the notched eyebrow above her heavily shadowed eye arched very suddenly and with a step to widen their stance the figure bent down a little.
"Why? are you a trainer?"

Beside her, and looking just as surprised was a massive red and white snake, green eyes blazing with curiosity as the forked tongue flicked in an out of his mouth with rapid interest.
Oh the other side of the women stood a black and green scizor, who looked from the boy to the Crobat attacked to his back, making quick sharp noises at the other pokemon who shirked and ruffled around in Shoyo's hair.

"Aaahh-right all right that's enough, come on Imp, wrong red head! wrong red head!" waving her arms to shoo the Crobat off of the boy, Ray reached a hand down to help him back to his feet, a wide grin spreading over a board jawline with a chuckle
"Its your red hair, I guess he mistook you for one of our friends or something... or he just really likes red hair! I guess that's just as plausible then anything."

The Crobat flapped around for a short distance, before doubling back and coming to rest on the back of the gray haired women's shoulders.

Ray

"Gen--" The straightforward and nonchalant response caught him off guard, and he wasn't sure how to reply. The pokemon around weren't species that he was unfamiliar with, but somehow they looked a whole lot bigger than he had always thought they would be. The sounds and touch from the one that was still behind him snapped him forward from the sinking feeling growing in the pit of his stomach, and he replaced his intimidated expression with one of defiant sureness, stuttering a response, "I-I am!"

Oh, but it seemed like this person wasn't as villainous as she initially came off as, and Shoyo suddenly felt kind of silly for getting all worked up. "It's cool, after all," he muttered, his head tucked down as he accepted the help to rise. "Red hair is, I mean... You always stand out."

Shoyo

There was a hitch on her smirk as he confirmed that he was a trainer, though it was the look on his face at the reaction of her response. "Don't look so head lighted kid, we made eye contact after all, you've got to know the code by now." She said through a laugh, patting his arm as she finished helping him up, much more well meaning to try and detour from the tension she might have caused him.
Though it was looking like he snapped back pretty quickly on his down. AHA this kid was great.
"Standing out is good. life fire in the night!" Ray agreed with a nod "then again, people who blend in don't tend to get carried away by excited Crobats. Right?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 31, 2014 7:14 pm
Ray

"Huh? Code?" Up up down down left right left right B A start? He kind of doubted it. The comment about the Crobat was something he did know how to respond to, though, and he drew himself up slightly, "Nuh uh! That's never happened before, so I think it's just your Crobat!" He rounded on said Crobat, raising a finger like a lecturing mother, "You hear that? You can't go around carrying off people with red hair just because, even if we are really cool!"

Impact opened one of his eyes as he heard himself being scolded, though the Scizor next to the tall women nodded in agreement to the Kid, crossing her arms over her chitin chest.

Ray on the other hand, openly delighted with the boy's interactions places her hands on her hips, glancing back over her shoulder at the Crobat hanging there before she looked back to him.
"Oh? why can't he?"
