Whether or not this is true is difficult to say at best, given none were meant to have survived, but the pale white leather that covers the faces of the weapon definitely do look and feel like stretched human flesh. With the steel handle twisted and cast in such a way that it looks like human faces are screaming out from the shaft and the bladded edge of the Gunbai seeming to reflect light in odd, twisted ways it is clear that whatever its origins it was clearly designed for fear. Yet the truly horrific parts come when Usugi is awoken, caused by fifty [50] Chakra or Stamina points being spent as a sacrifice to the thing that guards within. tab → The Howling Shards ► Water and wind, fire, earth and lightning powers controlled by the wielder find their techniques altered thematically when used alongside this weapon. Wind howls with the screams of the dead and damned, with fire morphing into the expressions of those who died in fire. Water is blacker than sin and carries with it the reek of fetid blood while electricity snarles into demonic forms. The earth, tormented by its power, is black and rotted with decay, carrying with it the sweet stench of death. In effect techniques being used inspire a negative effect, a chilling, dark energy that borders the unholy power of corruption. C - ranked Shadow damage is constantly applied alongside the damage of the attacks, something that bypasses Defense and does half again [50% More] more Durability damage than before. This effect lasts for three [3] posts, with an upkeep of 30 Chakra or Stamina per post after. tab → The Crawling Chaos ► Use of this weapon comes at a cost as the mind begins to rot with each post sustaining the evil power of Usagi. For every three [3] posts being used apply one [1] point of Spiritual corruption upon the body. At every ten [10] points of Corruption the body gains an Echo Intrusion affliction. These Intrusions alter the physical body and emotional state of the figure in some way, while providing a bonus in its place. These may be submitted as "custom techniques", though in all cases there is a negative as equal in strength as the positive, and will include physical alterations.

xxxxxMasako thrashed about, slamming her fists into Lupus' back and kicked her legs wildly. It was unlikely to cause Lupus any real discomfort as the man was a certified giant. The man had seemed to think it was okay to just pick her up and handle her like a rag doll. She probably shouldn't have complained as he was saving her the trouble of walking to their destination but he had done it with little to no warning and she had basically just met him.
Struggling to get free, Masako finally squirmed her way free, or at least Lupus let her squirm free. "What's the big idea dragging us all the way out here you Neanderthal? If you wanted my attention, you could just say something!" Her normally pale complexion was turning blood red as she stomped her feet on the ground and crossed her arms.
Zuhra was warm, this was good. He was protected from the cold, and the snow, thus he was happy. While they walked, Lupus described what the people back in Ikeinasu were saying, explaining how Yoaki patrols were increasing and getting closer, and that those that dealt with them were getting worried because a seemingly powerful one had been spotted at the closest abandoned settlement up the mountain from the north gate, which is where they were currently heading. Zuhra's attention was grabbed, for multiple reasons, and not just about their next goal. His beady red eyes starred at the big ole fella carrying Masako like a sack of potatoes. While he wasn't going to complain if she didn't, considering how he treated her despite them having less of a built "relationship" than himself and the man if you would call it that, was peculiar and perhaps slightly off putting for a lack of a better descriptor.
Sure enough Masako did start to complain and struggle before being set free and getting her two bits in on how she had been handled which he couldn't blame her, and simply waited for their little bit to finish before he started to chime in.❝So why are we going to deal with this? It's not like it concerns us, and Kaileer might get mad and kick us out for potentially endangering Ikeinasu since deal with this isn't exactly our jobs. The 'road' leading up the mountain toward the city high above was little more than a footpath, made of a mix of straight stretches and occasional steps, that wound its way through a snow-covered forest. To make matters worse, at some point, snow had started falling rather heavily, fat flakes quickly accumulating on the path. Still, the fact the way was visible was good in itself, given most in the town didn't travel north; they still cleared the road for a good distance, perhaps to help patrols. However, as the first buildings came into view through the fog of snow, the path tapered until it looked like the scouts had stopped clearing it altogether.
To this point, the trio had been walking for approximately half a mile, and hadn't run into any trouble. There was no way that, if anything was inhabiting the buildings ahead, the creatures could hear through the precipitation, but likewise the group couldn't hear anything from them. What looked like a small flicker of firelight could be seen reflecting off of the buildings though.
Finally after walking for a decent bit, Masako began struggling against his hold, hitting his back roughly. Sadly for her he was a rather tough skinned individual, so it did little but hurt her own hands. Though he did still let her down, he fixed her with a scathing look, annoyed at her thinking that he wanted her attention. When she crossed her arms angrily over her chest he let out a deep rumbling laugh before speaking in a gruff voice. "Less wanting attention, more annoyed at the hitting." Shifting his gaze to Zuhra as the man questioned his reasons for coming to search for whatever was going on, Lupus allowed him to finish before speaking in a low voice, this time keeping himself more quiet in case anyone was happening to pass by, not that it was very likely. "I suppose you could say that. It was a lackluster fight that was cut short. Usugi didn't get enough blood to even sate activating her."
Glancing forward they finally began to see signs of something happening, in the form of buildings that looked as if they were uncared for and left alone to weather the storm. Seeing a brief bit of fire he turned to look at Zuhra and Masako once more, signalling with his hand that something was in front of them. Even if it wasn't an enemy, it was best to not just announce their presence by being loud and aggressively walking forward to the buildings. Locking eyes with Zuhra hopefully he would motion slightly, mouthing towards him to scout ahead if possible, either himself or a clone if he could. If not they would just have to proceed with caution.

xxxxxStill rather upset about the whole ordeal and for the most part ignored Zuhra and Lupus talking about something like a fight and what sounded like an angry man named Kaileer. As the snow picked up, Masako pulled the lion pelt tight around her, trying to keep in some heat. It felt like it was unseasonably cold, even for Ikeinasu. Masako took refuge from the wind by huddling behind Zuhra and Lupus, using them as a wall to break the wind and hopefully block off some of the snow.
It was only by chance that Masako spotted what appeared to be a small grouping of buildings ahead, dimly lit by the occasional glow of what she hoped was a fire. It seemed that Lupus noticed the buildings at the exact same moment. He seemed to become defensive in an instant, quickly silencing himself and using hand and mouthing movements to communicate. Masako moved to the side of the path, hiding behind a small group of bushes. If something had Lupus worried, it was likely that she would simply get in the way of things. Masako instead lowered her body to camouflage her already small frame against the foliage and reached into her satchel, pulling out a kunai.

The three amigos were ambushed by a heavy snowfall roughly around half way through their journey but thankfully the pathway if you would call it that was properly maintained for patrols, so it made it easy to continue to follow it. Zuhra was intrigued by Lupus' words, who was this Usugi he spoke of? Perhaps it was the man's nightmareish weapon. He supposed that would make sense, after all his own weapon had a name, "Predator".
Cautious eyes followed Masako as she took refuge behind the two bigger individuals for protection from the wind, which was smart on her part no doubt, but the last time she was behind them, they both ended up getting smacked by a devil-spoon, she him being wary was warranted. The Ancestor wished he had something to give her to better protect herself from the wind, but he himself was only able to acquire his cloak by means rather forgotten than to be remembered.
Out of the corner of his eyes Zuhra took notice of Lupus motioning them to stop because something had caught his attention, and upon further inspection Zuhra too noticed the buildings up ahead that indeed looked worse for wear having been forgotten, but were interestingly bathed in the faintest glow of orange light from a fire somewhere within.
Reaching up with his right hand Zuhra would rub the side of his neck as he had an internal debate on how to proceed with this. Sure, he could go ahead himself and scout the area, and as much as he liked to have faith in himself and his capabilities, this patrol was suppose to be strong enough to scare the regulars, thus he could potentially get caught which wouldn't be good.
On the other hand, if he didn't get caught, then Lupus and Masako could get ambushed while he was away, and not that he didn't have some sort of faith in Lupus being able to handle himself, Masako was well, inept when it came to combat. Speaking of Masako, when he stole a glance at the girl he noticed she was trying to tuck herself away behind some bushes to hide and potentially keep herself warm.
Reaching into his bag of holding Zuhra would produce his blanket and toss it over to her for her to cover herself with it too keep warm, and if she wanted, to cover the blanket with snow to blend in more. Next, he would take a knee and run through a quick simple chain of hand seals and out popped a clone comprised of crows, one of if not Zuhra's current signature technique.
He ordered the clone to disperse into crows and had one sit on his shoulder again as the rest went off to scout around the buildings, and upon closing his eyes and focusing on them, he gained their vision once more like before back in the market when in chase of the weregirl.

The crows flew over a small gathering of houses, shells of what they once were in the old world but still managing to stand. The buildings circled around a gathering space, where a well had long since collapsed in on itself and was half buried in the fresh snowfall. Beside it was the source of the firelight. A decent sized campfire was set up in a cleared patch of earth, over which something was roasting on a spit. It was animalistic in shape, but something seemed... off about the creature, whatever it was. Around the fire sat three creatures, all very similar in appearance in that they were hideous--almost goblinoid or demon-like depending on the culture. Two, however, had thick hair covering most of their bodies and the skin that shown through was blue. The third was red and wore nothing but tattered cloth, a rusted sword lying exposed to the elements on the ground beside it. The faces of all three were concealed by demonic masks.
One of the blue demons was playing with something that looked like a small flame or a ball of light. It would let the ball go, the ball would try to shoot away, and the creature would pin it to the ground again. This it repeated over and over.
A crash from the building nearest to where the trio hid drew the eyes of the three around the fire, followed by a loud cackle and a harsh voice say, "I smell you... You can't hide from me." However, it didn't seem to be referring to any of them.
It took a few minutes for his crows to get into position and once they were there he had a splendid view. Zuhra started to explain in a quiet voice the lay of the land, how the buildings circled around a central hub with t collapsed snow-covered well, that was properly illuminated by the fire nearby. He would continue with the supposed abnormal creature being spit roasted and surrounded by the three shapes which he had dubbed Goblemons, two blue and hairy and one red with donned by a cloth and equipped with a rust sword with all three being clad in masks.
Zuhra came to a stop with his explanation as he caught the sight of blue thing number one playing with a orb of light, perhaps some kind of magical fire, that was at least until he tried to escape.❝The blue one on the left seems to be toying with a,❞he trailed off hesitantly as if unsure on what he was seeing,❝Pixie or Fairy..?❞
The Ancestor didn't sound so sure of himself. A crash resounded a few feet away from the trio of Goblemons and captured their attention as well as Zuhra's. A loud cackle erupted and someone or something with a gruff voice gave itself away to smelling something, to which Zuhra relayed this to them, unsure of whether this thing was referring to them or the Goblemons if not a third party altogether. Getting a bit greedy, he commanded the crows to get a bit closer, trying to have a few land about and act natural so he could get a better view and auditory reception.
❝We could leave and tell Kaileer about this, after I get a bit more intel on what's going on, but I kinda want to stick this out. I gotta admit, their masks look kinda cool, and I may or may not kinda want one, aaaannndd, there may just happen to be three of them for three of us, coincidence, I think not.❞Regardless, Zuhra continued to observe the situation while reaching a hand behind his back to the sheathed jagged Bismuth dagger and taking grasp of it's hilt.

His guess was right, even despite the heavy snowfall around them, Zuhra was easily able to scout ahead by summoning what he could only guess to be called a Crow Clone based on the fact that it dispersed into crows to go forward and scout. After they got into position Zuhra began to relay information back and forth in a low whisper between himself and Lupus, upon which Lupus would nod his head after each bit of information to indicate he understood. Evidently they'd just finished some form of combat or some excursion given they were playing with a spoil of war in the form of what Zuhra guessed to be a Pixie or Fairy.
A crash sounded within the camp ahead, just barely loud enough to echo to the small area they were hiding at, causing Lupus to shift his gaze over towards it as a look of deep contemplation flashed within his eyes. After enough time to scout out the crash Lupus turned to Zuhra, an expectant look in his eyes. However even he didn't have too much information, as he mentioned potentially leaving to inform Kaileer when he got more Intel, alongside mentioning they had rather cool looking masks that he wanted and there just happened to be three of. With a grin Lupus inched closer to the man, speaking in a low whisper to him as he did so. "They sound cool so I'd like one as well. Think we could take them? If so we can start to move up a bit to prepare, just let me know if they seem to notice us as we do."
With that said and assuming Zuhra would agree, Lupus began to move forward slowly, attempting to hide as best as possible considering his massive frame. Thankfully the snow falling atop his cloak helped blend in a bit, allowing him to crouch as low as he could whilst still moving forward and hopefully remain somewhat out of sight. After a few breathes he approached a small building nearby, leaning back against it carefully before glancing out towards where Zuhra was before nodding slightly and shifting his body to glance around the building as best as possible to see if he could get a view of what was going on.
Hopefully whatever was smelling the demonic creatures hadn't begun attacking or decided to attack him, which would not be very good. However instead of letting that affect him he instead slowly calmed his breathing, allowing both his mind and body to enter into a state of one being, each breathe in perfect alignment with his heartbeat. Shifting his gaze to the side his eyes were seemingly free of human attachment as his emotions entered a ritualistic void; as soft as water yet as firm as stone.

Whether or not this is true is difficult to say at best, given none were meant to have survived, but the pale white leather that covers the faces of the weapon definitely do look and feel like stretched human flesh. With the steel handle twisted and cast in such a way that it looks like human faces are screaming out from the shaft and the bladded edge of the Gunbai seeming to reflect light in odd, twisted ways it is clear that whatever its origins it was clearly designed for fear. Yet the truly horrific parts come when Usugi is awoken, caused by fifty [50] Chakra or Stamina points being spent as a sacrifice to the thing that guards within. tab → The Howling Shards ► Water and wind, fire, earth and lightning powers controlled by the wielder find their techniques altered thematically when used alongside this weapon. Wind howls with the screams of the dead and damned, with fire morphing into the expressions of those who died in fire. Water is blacker than sin and carries with it the reek of fetid blood while electricity snarles into demonic forms. The earth, tormented by its power, is black and rotted with decay, carrying with it the sweet stench of death. In effect techniques being used inspire a negative effect, a chilling, dark energy that borders the unholy power of corruption. C - ranked Shadow damage is constantly applied alongside the damage of the attacks, something that bypasses Defense and does half again [50% More] more Durability damage than before. This effect lasts for three [3] posts, with an upkeep of 30 Chakra or Stamina per post after. tab → The Crawling Chaos ► Use of this weapon comes at a cost as the mind begins to rot with each post sustaining the evil power of Usagi. For every three [3] posts being used apply one [1] point of Spiritual corruption upon the body. At every ten [10] points of Corruption the body gains an Echo Intrusion affliction. These Intrusions alter the physical body and emotional state of the figure in some way, while providing a bonus in its place. These may be submitted as "custom techniques", though in all cases there is a negative as equal in strength as the positive, and will include physical alterations.

xxxxxMasako shivered under her cloak and blanket. This weather didn't seem to agree with her at all. To make matters even worse, there was some form of monster in the ruins ahead now that both Zuhra and the giant man wanted to fight. They seemed to be ignoring the fact that there was potentially four monsters in the set of buildings and really only two and half of them. Masako decided to keep her opinions to herself and turned to Zuhra to give him a quick shrug. She did hope that they would come to a decision quickly.

Welp, it seemed at least two of them had come to a consensus on what to do with the third not really caring as she was just really cold. Turning to Masako he would remind her to keep low and quiet and that they should be back shortly, and worst case scenario, if she were to get in trouble, well she knew where to find them at least. Keeping one eye open and the other closed, vampyboi would stealth up behind Lupus as they made their approach to the buildings, and once secured against a wall with a proper view into the situation, he would give the giant of a man's arm a few taps to get his attention before point up, signaling he was gonna get a higher vantage point.
Gathering strength into his legs and coating his feet in chakra, Zuhra leaped high into the air above and landed on the roof of the building they were shacked up against. Motioning across from him, the crows would fly higher into the air before coming down on the rooftop across from Zuhra and forming back into the clone in a position to which Lupus could see. Zuhra would hold out his palms to his sides and funnel chakra into his hands and condense it just above the palms as two orbs began to form.
After a brief moment they would flatten and expand while starting to violently spin, essentially turning into two big chakra saw blades of doom. The clone would jump down and land opposite of the red Goblemon across from the fire, closer to the blue Goblemon on the left, to startle them and grab their attention.❝Maaaan, I'm hungry as s**t.❞Boom, code word activated, but wait, they never got a chance to set up the code word, damn.
Regardless, Zuhra swing his arms down in a crossing motion, effectively launching the spinning disks from his hands down from the rooftop, the disks arcing down from flanking sides of the red Goblemon in attempts to well, saw him in half, quite literally, from both sides while he was distracted from the clone right in front of him. This of course, was also meant as a distraction for Lupus to engage freely as well, to come in a block their escape route and engage the soon to be only unoccupied blue Goblemon closest to him.

Following Zuhra silently with his eyes he waited patiently for the man to get into position, shifting his gaze back down to look and see if anything changed in front of him while he was waiting. Seeing nothing change hopefully he would notice Zuhra finally get into position atop a building before launching an attack at the monsters in front of them.
Alongside this he would say out what Lupus could only imagine to be a code for him to start attacking. With that in mind he stepped out from behind the building, taking wide steps forward to cover the distance between him and the enemy. While doing this he would reach behind him to grasp his demonic Gunbai before removing it from his back in a single fluid motion, simultaneously sending his will deep within to awaken the being that guarded within it. As a result it began to warp and corrupt both him and also the energy around him.
Planting a foot down firmly the giant of a man would seemingly glide across the ground with a single step, pushing off with the tips of his toes as he did so. Channeling energy throughout his body and blade he would seemingly perform a powerful dance imbued with his will and energy. As a result the ground beneath him would turn into a black and evil looking river of mud, stretching as far forward as he possibly could make it. Should it work it would engulf the blue Goblemon within it before swiftly beginning to pull it towards Lupus as the Stragari continued his powerful steps forward, the earth cracking beneath his feet.
The moment the Goblemon began to enter his range he would explode with power far beyond what most would imagine for his rank, showing his huge frame wasn't just for show. The air would seemingly ripple and slice apart as he swung his Gunbai horizontally at the Goblemon, intending to crush it's ribs and hips with one go before stepping in to shift his weight allowing his free left hand to launch upwards towards the Goblemons throat. The opponent quickly loses his/her standing and starts sliding wherever the mud river will take him/her. A simple handsign is all it takes to start the jutsu. For an upkeep of half the original cost, the technique can be continued past the first post.

For every three [3] posts being used apply one [1] point of Spiritual corruption upon the body. At every ten [10] points of Corruption the body gains an Echo Intrusion affliction. These Intrusions alter the physical body and emotional state of the figure in some way, while providing a bonus in its place. These may be submitted as "custom techniques", though in all cases there is a negative as equal in strength as the positive, and will include physical alterations.

The heir to a rusted throne sat within a fire escape that sat alongside an old building created far after the shrines and temples he was so accustomed to. He tended to his sword, which somehow was still holding itself together after the work he put it through. Yokai were sturdy, and his blade didn't always strike true, even with the element of surprise on his side. With any leftover residue wiped from his blade, he got up from his seat on the metal stairs. It's been two weeks now since I've left camp, and my rations ran out yesterday. I can't stay out here much longer, I know that... But still, even with the pangs of hunger that he was so used to, Musunde knew that he was close. To what? He wasn't sure. He only left on his expedition to find out something, anything that could help him know what it would take to reclaim what was rightfully his. To give him a path that he could walk, whether or not it be lined if strife. He just needed to see it. To know if such a thing existed. "You've been quiet. To be honest, I miss your guidance." He said while placing a hand against the black bracer on his arm. The dog, his armor that he had yet to know the name of, had been mostly quiet whenever he wasn't completely needed. Musunde sensed that it knew the futility in his search, but also knew that it'd be equally as futile to try and dissuade him from proceeding any further.
His thoughts were cut short by a sharp pain in his stomach, one born of hunger, but so much worse than what he was used to. What the hell. It's only been a day withou- Another interruption shook him out of his thoughts, and made his blood curdle. It was only a whisper until he focused on it, his exceptional hearing making it all the more disturbing. Someone or something was eating. The snaps, snarls, and chewing did nothing for his appetite, making him only want to vomit. After so many days out in the s**t, he could only think of yokai partaking in a feast of corpses, or even feasting on each other. Vermin, doing as vermin did. The "fades," as they were actually called, were infuriatingly vile, with the only exception he encountered being the dog that had helped him survive and thrive. He could already tell that the origin of the sound was only a hop, skip, and a jump from his current location. Without waiting for guidance or doing much in the way of stalking his prey stealthily, he ran down the fire escape and got his boots in the snow. He ran until he reached the street in front of him, stopping only for a moment to check for any fades lying in wait before continuing his sprint into one of the alleyways.
All he needed to do was look down for his breath to catch in his throat, a dry cough leaving him while his legs slowed to a stop. The snow was tinted red. It was faint, but even in the shadow of an alley, there was no mistaking it. One foot forward, then another. His mind tried to reason with him. Maybe I should run this by Kaileer. Or Maybe I should scout this out longer? No amount of reasoning would stop him. Deep down, he knew that whatever it was that he was searching for in the past two weeks would be on the other side of the alley. The sound of eating was overcome by the pounding of his own heartbeat. His survival instinct and years of thinking before he leaped were being overcome by a stronger need, one that had only been growing ever since he first broke out of his crystal.
Gallons of red finally entered his vision. A literal pool of blood, with the sound of feasting growing stronger, only for there to be no yokai yet in sight. He gripped his blade tight in his right hand, exhaling, waiting for what came next. Another clue? A sound? Give me something...
Startled by the sudden presence of a human they didn't notice, the three surrounding the fire swiveled their heads to look at the clone instead, just staring at first in confusion, which left an opening for Zuhra's attack. Because of that, the target of the attack barely had a chance to respond. It leaned back slightly, narrowly avoiding one of the saws, but the other shaved into its arm before the creature dissolved into a shadow on the ground, leaving a splatter of black, hissing liquid in the snow. The shadow scurried toward one of the nearby houses, whose front door looked like it had been smashed in.
In the meanwhile, the two beast-looking creatures started screeching in defiance just as Lupus slammed his foot into the ground, causing the earth to ripple beneath them. They both scattered, bolting opposite directions on all fours perpendicular to the flow of the mud that surged into them. One charged at Zuhra's clone, not yet realizing it for what it was, swinging a clawed hand at the neck with a mighty leap. The other skirted around Lupus in a wide arc before sliding to a halt and forming a quick series of hand seals. The campfire sprung to life, the flames spiraling toward Lupus to strike him from afar.
[Dak: Because you used your second and third attack in the circumstance the yokai was pulled toward you, you get any chakra/stamina back for them.]
The ball of light, which had been released due to the interruption, flashed brightly as it hovered about, though if it was trying to signal something, it wasn't getting its message across very well.
