D.) Charge in the direction the cloud came from- surely there's not more of them? (though realistically all of the above XD; )
Spider Eyes was still thinking about a big flying spider-bug haunting the woods, not really phased by the wolf sounds (surely the bigger phonies would try to save the little'uns first) or the creepier and creepier looking trees, when Miss Odd-Eyes decided to get creepy too. Something's near? Like what?
Bats. That's what.
Spider's eyes had probably never been rounder as he stared, frozen, at the swarm of flying bug-eaters. Bug. Bug eaters. Not phony eaters. He was a phony. Right? Right. Yeah. Phony. Not bug. Just bug name. Just bug name. "Just bug name… just bug name…" By the time he started muttering over and over, he'd flattened his body to the ground and was attempting to get the hell outta dodge. Not really seeing where he was going, just mostly going, he ended up practically squished against a larger phony under a sleeping bag. Of course, this didn't rightly register with Spider at first, as he was still chanting "not a bug, just bug name… not a bug, just bug name…" in one of those time-goes-slow panic modes. This was not ok. This was NOT ok. Where was the fire? He had to find the fire. Fire was safe in this particular instance, right? Fire was safe… "FIRE IS SAFE!" He squeaked, snapping out of his mantra and suddenly panicking like a cat when he realized he was now covered in something puffy and there was a big creature next to him. Luckily, it only took him a single physics-defying flip-like move before reality set in, and he stared up at the phony with eyes as big as the moon and chest heaving.
". . . Or… here… here is safe too… Not that I was scared…" He looked down quickly as his face turned bright red, vaguely aware that they were moving off in a direction but not really sure -what- direction exactly… "Bats like to eat bugs is all, ok…?"
zippedsiren I'm so sorry for throwing my little spaz-phakie at you, but it was the perfect set up XD;

D.) Charge in the direction the cloud came from- surely there's not more of them?
“Not a zombie or ghost,” Banshee explained to Labyrinth with a shake of her head, cuddling closer beneath the blanket and sleeping roll she was sharing with her new friends. “Just... undead. In between.” Whatever that meant. The other two were clearly planning on capturing the creature, while she was concerned only with seeing it off to the right plane of existence. A good mournful dirge should do the job.
It wasn’t long before she was folding up the blanket and replacing it on her back so they could continue their progress through the woods. Banshee was humming again, falling a little behind as the world got darker and denser. She could imagine that lost soul out there, desperately seeking help.
She stopped dutifully when Skirmish called them to, one hoof hovering in the air, eyes wide and hair wild. The the world exploded and she gave an almighty shriek in response. It wasn’t panic, merely surprise, her first reaction to let out as much noise as possible and then - follow her friends, including Fright Night, a Phony she knew must surely be quite intimate with bats.
"Wait for me," she called, as she galloped in the direction the bats had come from, hoping she would find her dead wanderer first before someone tried to catch them.

C.) Drop to the ground- the lower the better.
Honestly.
"AH! Ooooh," the jolt of terror subsided with a curious look, Boysie composing herself and calmly lowering to the leaf litter, pasta safely tucked between her hooves.
"You know, I'm not really up on my chiropterology- whoopsie doodle-" one flew right into her mane, the little thing beating against her head until Boysie's magic carefully untangled it from the yellow strands and gently placed it on a nearby bush, "But these are likely just brown bats. Insectivorous, harmless really. Well to us, we're phonies."
Obviously the best solution was to just quietly wait it out, all their ruckus tromping through the forest was likely exciting and disturbing the insects around here, flushing them out into the open. Of course the bats would be drawn in by potentially easy meals.

D.) Charge in the direction the cloud came from
Kiwi released a soft, airy laugh at his joke. She didn't imagine they were the best at conversations, either! She awaited eagerly as it seemed he begun picking through stories before, with an abrupt stop, his arm was flung in her path and the group came to a still.
Bats.
Now, Kiwi Kiss wasn't scared of bats in general. Who could be — they were simply adorable. The thing was, she was entirely afraid of a pack of bats coming at her face. It wasn't like a mass of writhing and screaming bats had anything friendly on their mind, and suddenly their teeth seemed quite intimidating. For a moment, she just froze, mouth parted in abstract horror until the stallion she had been speaking to cried out. He was right, this could be the way to the monster! That, or an awesome lair, who knows?!
What was the saying.... you only live once?
She fluttered after the stallion, keeping her legs tight to her body to let her stick close to the ground and the stallion for added protection.
