These organizations are not there to spread their philosophies, to push their agendas, to convince anyone to take up their politics, though some of them do start from a political or religious perspective (that is, their religions teach them to give and share, and so they do). These organizations exist purely to serve the concrete, physical needs of the world. Go to these websites, or find other organizations that specifically exist to meet the needs of humanity. Learn something. Then do something to help. Thank you.

XD I wasn't doing anything but the basic things for a while on gaia. which is why I didn't visit the guild. ^^ Green eyes? Yours has green eyes? I love green! For some reason I love copper eyes on a black cat the best. Whoa. You took pictures of the birth? ...I think birthings are kinda gross so that just blows my mind.
Locks of love, eh? crying I used to have three feet of hair but I decided to cut it short and donated the hair. Unfortunately I have found that I don't like my hair short. At all. Notawhit. And it's not just the whole 'OMG I love my hair!!!11!' thing. I am actually cold most of the time now becuase my hair isn't warming me. I'm chilled, combing my hair isn't soothing anymore, I can't do my Medusa costume for Halloween...At least some kid out there now has a wig of gorgeous golden brown hair right? It warms my heart to be sure, but it doesn't warm my shoulders or back...*sigh* Is that a bad thing? That I kinda regret it? Am I morally decrepit? Mou...

It doesn't make you morally bankrupt to miss your hair and regret your choice. I did too, the first time I donated a ponytail to Locks of Love. I then discovered that I was both cold and funny-looking. I rushed out and bought a hat.

And I cried a lot. I always hated my hair and complained about it, but suddenly I realized that I'd kept a lot of my identity and my self-esteem tangled up in my long red curls. My SO said, "Yes, it looks funny, but so what? You're beautiful to me because you did something to make a little girl feel normal again." Then the SO bought me three pretty scarves. I called my mother, bawling so hard that I could barely speak. She said "Isn't it a good thing that loves you for more than just your hair?" and bought me a hat and a couple of snoods.

Now, three years later, I've been wearing hats, snoods, and scarves since then. Know what I discovered? Hats keep me warm. They hide my hair entirely, so no one knows whether it's long or short (it grew back, as hair often does). No one knows whether it's messy. I haven't had a bad hair day in three years now, simply because no one ever sees my hair.

I used to spend about fifteen minutes just washing and conditioning my hair, then an hour blowing it dry, then another hour with the styling wand to get it to de-frizz. The de-frizzing process also required a lot of expensive products, and the effects would go away almost immediately when I walked outside into the wind, rain, and/or humidity which are the year-round lot of anyone who lives... um, anywhere, I guess. Now, I get out of the shower, comb the tangles, bind my hair with a single scrunchie and an under-cap band, put on my hat/snood/scarf, and away I go -- in about 10 minutes, and that's if I dawdle. I'm now a wash-and-go girl.

Plus, people now call me by name instead of "Hey, Red." They deal with ME, not with my hair. With a simple bit of eyebrow penciling and a bit of mascara, I can go from redhead to brunette just by changing my eyebrows; there are people who don't even know my real hair color.

And if the back of my neck is cold, that's a perfect opportunity to buy a pretty new scarf or a turtleneck, which I love.

Word: Help me decide what new item to provide as a prize. Should be either two items worth 3k to 4k each, or one item from 4k to 9k. Ideas?
