auS-e-Dude Orphie Children say the darnedest things. And no, I'm not talking about the show. Do you have a story to share perhaps? Yup! I was babysitting a four year old earlier and we were coloring. I had a blanket around me and she asks, "Why do you have your blankie?" I say to her, "Because I'm cold." She seemed to pause for a second before saying, "That's okay. We all make mistakes. And we all need blankets sometimes." I smirked and in a heartbeat I asked her, "Do you make mistakes?" She replied with, "No." Then, we were coloring once more (this actually happened before the last one) and I finish my coloring. It's a coloring book, I had colored in a dog. I show it to her and say, "I'm finished." She looks at it and says something along the lines of, "Mine is better." Now, when you compare a four year old's coloring job with pink grass and outside the lines to one of a teenager, it's fairly obvious who is the one better at coloring. I didn't say anything about that and said, "Oh?" She says something incoherent about how other people are good at coloring too and such, but ends with, "But I like my coloring best." I'm close to laughing aloud now (or maybe I did), and I say, "You're so modest." She smiles and says, "I know." There wasn't a trace of sarcasm in her voice.
