Mirado clutched the collar of his red jacket shut, and tightened the two belts around the waist. The wind persisted, slithering swiftly through his sleeves and down his spine. It was at that moment he caught a glimpse of it. A blue flash.

"What was that?"

"Nothing good," Miles spoke quietly, still trying to wrap his arms around himself. He shivered, "Keiosu, when will we be there? It feels like we've been flying for months."

"Oh s**t!" Miles ducked the blade, whipping around to see his attacker. He forgot all about the cold and jumped to his feet on the dragons back. Removing the boomerang from his shoulder he began to spin it. He lost his balance, nearly falling from his perch. He swore and balanced himself, replacing the weapon on his back. As the tail of Witium's dragon sped past, Miles jumped, grabbing for the creature.

Yousei watched as the stranger wandered away as if he had never existed, and she wondered for a while if it was all a dream. Staring into the fire, she realized how dependent she was upon it now. There was no warmth of an embrace, no gentle smile to reassure her heart of its worth. How greatly did she miss those simple gestures. Those luxuries which were now a thing of her past. Questions of whether her heart would beat again for any other soon arose. Her love for one was violently ripped from her grasp and the chance for another was snatched away before even the idea could set. She closed her eyes and focused on the warmth of the fire's hearth, her tear ducts too frozen to release evidence of her self-pity...

~~~
The opaline dragon soon noticed the jerking motions of the dragon and realized its intent to strike. Swiftly dodging the blast, though being nearly impaled by the frost dragon's swift movements toward them. ~Miles,~ Karasu called out to him within her mind as he suddenly attempted to stand upon her and then leapt to grab for the enemy dragon! She then swung around to catch him if she could. Should he make it, however, she was well on her way to getting a bite of the frost dragon's hide. It was a definite win-win.
~~~

{Okay. I'm introducing a new villain, and since I'm already up to liek.. four characters, I'm not gonna RP as all of 'em at once. xD

In fact, I'll probably get somebody else to take over as the Queen and maybe Valentius, too. ;o}

Koma whittled away at his staff, his eyes taking in the complexity of the Guardian Fate. Spirits of the past and present swirled in and out of its waters, and he inhaled deeply. The smell somehow always appealed to his senses. And regardless of how dark his occupation seemed, Koma could always rely on the sunlight dripping in from above. He closed his eyes and soaked in its familiar warmth. No matter what his past, the sun always accepted him with warm embrace...

{Yes, he is an Eptomist or Surturist. One of the two. So he does, in fact, worship the sun. Something he and Miles have in common! And no, it's not much of an intro, but I'm tired. o:}

Witium's frost dragon began curving upward and rearing its limber head around to see its back. It caught the sight of an object leaping at its tail. As a reflex the dragon whipped the end of its tail at Mile's chest to give him a firm push backward toward the other dragon. Though the Opaline dragon had its maw opened at the moment the frost dragon was trying to scale upward. In retaliation to the puncturing bite given by the dragonic opponent the frost dragon curled the end of its tail around the Opaline dragon's neck like a loose corkscrew and then used the very end of its tail as a blade to try and cut at her neck. Regardless of whether the blade like tail actually touched Karasu the frost dragon would travel upward in a drill-like movement and then curl its body around to look down at its opponents.
Meanwhile Witium was hanging on for dear life as his dragon made its obscure roller coaster like movements. He finally loosened his death grip on the dragon's saddle when it had paused above the other group. The elf lifted up his face plate to reveal his features to them. He held a defiant grin on his face, "It seems you all still have some spunk," he taunted. If they were going to get in his way Witium figured it'd be best to eliminate them now instead of having them possibly sneak up on him later. It was more probable that they were just searching for a artifact or going on some ridiculous quest to find Yousei. Witium figured she was pretty much dead or on another continent; ~Serves the human lover right~, he thought. In his splintered mind Witium considered Yousei a betrayer of their kind.

Miles cried out, flying head over heels away from the dragon. He pressed his hands to his chest, trying with all his might to regain his breath. It felt to him as though his chest had collapsed in on itself, crushing his lungs under the snapped and cracked bones. Miles panicked, suddenly realizing he was still falling. Giving up the struggle Miles closed his eyes, reaching a hand into his pocket and removing the box. He held it close to his chest as he fell headfirst to the forest below.

Kraid spun his head away from the masses of bodies before him and focused his eyes several miles to the north. He gripped his scythe tight, shaking his head. "Foolish boy," He growled, sinking into the shadows and darting off towards his brother.

The young Elf sat there silently, staring deeply and intently upon the flames. Cold and deserted, she wondered for the longest time if she should give up hope entirely... It would, of course, be the logical choice in times like this, as it would save her much time and pain, but logic never did apply to her or her mindset. In an instant, Yousei decided what it was that she must do. It was the only thing which she had always resorted to in troubled times and something which she had always done routinely since she had first found her faith: pray. With both of her palms facing up toward the heavens, Yousei allowed the blanket to fall to the snow-laden ground beneath her. It billowed helplessly as the wind picked up, and the Wood Elf's bare arms instantly felt the sharp, stinging knives of the harsh atmosphere. Still, with every ounce of strength which remain after her traumatic incident, the young Elf prayed, and prayed hard. The wind picked up, seemingly protesting to her actions. Or perhaps, it was one of Adonai's tests to see how badly she truly wished to contact Him. And that she did. More than anything else, she wished to be blessed by His guidance, however little she recalled about herself. Even though her very identity had long since slipped her mind, she still remembered her faith and her beliefs. After much time spent praying for help in these coarse winds and freezing snows, she suddenly felt completely overwhelmed by warmth.. She wondered for a moment if she had been taken by her Lord to the next life, before a bright light shining through her lids caught her attention. Yousei looked down to examine it and it was coming from the area where her heart should be... With bright eyes and much wonder, she slowly pressed a numbed finger to it, though without warning, the digit kept moving, passing through the very skin! The Elf started and nearly screamed, had her vocal chords not been strained from the weather's unforgiving climate... What is this..? Wh-What am I!?

~~~
Karasu swirved and avoided the blade of the Frost dragon's tail by simply ceasing to move her wings and allowing herself to plummet a ways down. It was then that she saw Miles inadvertantly doing the same thing. In a flash, she began to dive expertly down toward the dark mass of trees and she opened her mouth slightly, preparing to catch him with her teeth if necessary.
~~~

With a complacent grin, Koma decided to take a peek into his glass heart. (Often times, he would do this out of boredom if the soulflow was at a minimum and there was little for him to watch out for). He got to his feet and waltzed over to the enormous heart, the edge of his traditional robe following close behind. With a tap of his staff against the glass, the colors began to swirl and shift, churning within it like liquid with a life of its own. Finally, a picture began to form from the mixing colors and soon, a face came into play. "Oh! What's this," he inquired of no one. "Aiden, m'boy..? Aha! How sweet.. I haven't seen you in the longest time. Not since you first crossed over, at least.. I see you are not doing quite so well for yourself." He placed a hand to his chin and hummed, as if trying to place the changes in his appearance. "You lost weight," he said finally with a peculiar chortle. It was then that he clapped his hands together joyously, "I bet you want your life back! Well, I can't wait to see how you plan to get it!" Koma folded his legs together and sat on the stone floor, watching Kraid with much intentment.

As if torn from the nightmares of a child, a blackened figure, easily mistakable for a wolves head, sprung forth from the forest below the falling boy. Opening its mouth the creature swallowed the child whole, consuming him in the darkness that was the nightmare.
Once inside the shadow, Miles was lowered safely to the ground, a skeletal structure standing by his feet. " Don't go dying on me boy, I still need you," Kraid growled, shaking a fist at his brother. "Emeille still needs you," He added.

Karasu held her limbs closer to her body and folded her wings more tightly together which increased her speed slightly. She flinched, however, as suddenly, an enormous shadow figure swallowed Miles whole! The Opaline Dragon swooped all the more swiftly downward in the hopes of still rescuing him, her pessimistic tendencies causing a lump to well up in her throat..

As she neared the ground, however, she noticed the blonde hair and light clothing of Miles lying safely below. Grateful, she sighed. Unfortunately for her frazzled nerves, the Dragon's keen eyesight then locked in on the smoking cloaked figure beside him: Kraid. She still remain quite suspicious of him, though he appeared to have kept Miles safe and had refrained from murdering him as he so easily could have in that instance. The dragon spread her wings as widely as she could through the forest canopy as she slowly and gracefully met terra firma.

~Miles, are you all right,~ she inquired telepathically, shooting a hateful glance in Kraid's direction before returning to her inspection of Miles's miraculously uninjured form. Without awaiting much of a response, she added, ~We must move swiftly if you are ready. I cannot possibly face that beast above. He is much too massive, and much too strong for an adolescent Dragon like myself...~

Just then, Karasu shivered and spasmed, her heart suddenly motioning to leap out of her chest in several desperate bounds! Pain welling in her chest, the image of her Rider entered into her sights. Her eyes filled with blinding blue light which stretched for miles as the image played out in her mind like an old and worn strip of film. There was the Elf, her familiar face twisted in panic-stricken expression as she stared down at her Soul Gem's shining light. The next instant, Karasu's oculars returned to normal, her heart racing and scales rigid from the vision. Yousei had not fed her Soul Gem in weeks... If they did not find her soon, she would surely die of a Broken Heart.. ~Hurry, Miles,~ she shouted in his mind. ~Yousei is in danger!!~

"But right now," Kraid added, glancing over his shoulder to Karasu, "Yousei needs you."
Miles nodded, throwing himself to his feet and forwards to the dragon. He swung his leg over the dragons back and braced himself for lift. "Don't hurt yourself," Miles ran his hand on Karasu's neck, " Wouldn't want anything to happen to our resident dragon."

Witium stared down at the ant sized Miles and Karasu as they seemed to be yapping at each other. The elf looked down to the dragon and muttered, "Hmm, looks like they're off on another adventure or something." A oh so familiar shadowy figure stood there after they left; one Witium planned to speak to for a moment. With a kick and a finger gesture to go down the frost dragon plummeted toward the ground and then pulled up in front of Kraid after Miles and Karasu were out of sight. While still on his dragon Witium spoke to the shadowed curiously, "So, what do the little rug rats seem to be doing this time? Trying to find the holy grail?" He laughed before brushing back his hair and putting a slight grin on his face, "I thank you by the way Kraid for not interfering with my affairs. It really makes things go along smoothly."

Now that Witium's ex-companions were gone and his curiosity was sate, he'd go back to his travels to Talik. That old city must've had some records of the genealogy or family trees. Never the less the original elven power would come back to rule over the humans once again. Witium would make sure such a thing would be so. The elves needed to be back in power and humans could never be trusted to rule themselves. They were so prone to squabbling which usually resulted in frivilis war.

"I care not what you do to the rest of these creatures," Kraid spoke coldly, "But if you do anything to hurt my family, I will find you." With that Kraid was off, disappearing once again into the shadows.

The moment Miles mounted Karasu, the exhausted dragon kicked off of the ground with a jolt and burst through the canopy once again. Adrenaline pumping through her veins, she flew faster than she had ever flown before, without direction, without warning. She could only rely on her instincts and feelings. Her Rider's emotions drove her toward the Perennials. She could sense a great disturbance in their atmosphere. Once mountain in particular seemed to have Yousei's name carved in its face. She sped forth, acquiring nearly breakneck speeds without realizing the effects that they may have on her passenger. The adrenaline pumped through her wings, burning in her heart and keeping her body well-insulated as she charged up the mountain side, the temperature dropping at immeasurable speeds. ~Yousei,~ the dragon called out to her Rider's mind in the hopes of receiving an answer.

~~~
The young Elf started as a voice screamed in her head and echoed throughout the inner workings of her skull. She writhed in pain and confusion, gripping her pointed ears tightly as though hoping to block the voice. The light burning in her chest only pulsated more and more rapidly with every second. Something about it seemed insatiable.. Yousei fell on her side as she curled into the fetal position and tried to pretend that she was somewhere else. But for all she knew, she had always been there..
{Miles should've brought a coat.
That's okay, Z! Everyone has their short-postin' days. o:}
