Feeding someone else's pets is always such an awkward thing. When the keys rattle in the lock, they know to come running for the kitchen because food's on the way, and yet they always look so disappointed that I'm not their real humans, just a substitute human. They'll let me pet them, but not pick them up. They'll eat, but only if I stand in the next room. They'll play games, but not for long. They're suspicious of me. I'm not used to cats being suspicious of me. Granted, they're new to their current home, and they must think it's weird that D and J brought them home and bonded with them, then left for a week. They may feel they've been abandoned. I hope not.
