And I saw the video of what they were talking about. What has been seen can not be unseen...

Tell them you're converting to pastafarianism! It's your only hope!

Oh here's another one, from Mexico. The problem is called Americanitis but apparently other countries are as much to blame sometimes:
•A similar thing happened with Ranma ½ in Mexico. Although only one character's name was changed (and then restored,) there was atrocious butchering of scenes to eliminate nudity, episodes aired out of order, and it eliminated some characters' trademark speech patterns, like Kuno's poetry or Shampoo's pidgin speak... At least Mexico has a lot of anime fans of different generations, ranging from those who watched Hayao Miyazaki's Heidi and those who watched Saint Seiya, so Anime remains popular here.

I think the problem is that in Japan, anime incorporates all parts of entertainment from little kids to pornography in some cases.
Then some come to America, where the culture is animation like that is only for kids under the age of 13. Therefore, anything mature must be eliminated, at the cost of some of the elements that make the show. It's really too bad.

The problem's not Japan, it's North America and them being too picky and particular about what they put on TV. Ranma 1/2 for example is for kids 13 and older in Japan. It's 18+ here. Like people younger than 18 never seen boobies before. And there's never been sex or anything like that in the show either.
Pokemon and Sailor Moon seemed to always have SOMETHING wrong with it too. The names are too Japanese. The culture is not American. The jokes make no sense over here, so replace it with something bland and stupid here. The Japanese food being edited out completely.
One episode of Pokemon was taken out from North America because a character caught a cold(and hence has similar symptoms to SARS), another was removed because of the use of firearms(even though I think it was fake), another one was taken out because James was wearing a bathing suit(And looked really smexy in it btw >_<), another one...the list keeps going. I know at least three or four more episodes that were removed/edited for stupid reasons like that.

I'm not saying Japan is the problem. I'm saying that because of culture differences, a lot of things are seen as unfit for young children here. Things are viewed differently in the two different cultures, and it's unfortunate. That's all I'm saying.

I'm kind of curious now to see what they did to One Piece, since your name reminded me. Isn't one of the characters a smoker, and in the Americanized version his smoke is replaced by a lollipop or something? I don't know where I heard that xd I figured I should ask you since you are...well, a fanatic ^_^; So you should know what I'm talking about(or I'm assuming so)

Yeah, that made me laugh so hard when I saw that. 4Kids aboslutely butchered it, but I find it funny, where I guess it outrages you.
I think we've had this conversation before, because I remember telling you about the Luffy blood in the mange, and it's sweat in the anime. That was the greatest thing ever xd

Yes, which I thought was better than funimation just getting rid of it all together. i personally thought the lollipop was BA.
