When all was said and done the woman named Miriam was dead and the man named David was in Canada.
Nobody bothered to follow him, he never saw any reports on the news or the internet.

David might as well have slipped away, his parting gift the beaten and bloodied body of an ex-lover.
The dreams were the only thing that showed interest.

Two years David spent in the snow, two years of drifting from town to town, making connections and a life as a wandering man.
Go to a town, stay for a month, make a friend, leave.
Rinse and repeat.

Then the letter arrived.
David woke up two days ago and found it in his backpack, no return address or postage. Just a letter in a simple white envelope.

Now David is riding the rails to Syracuse, NY.
He plans on getting back in the country unnoticed.
The Drop is an old lakehouse Miriam's father owned in Florida.
It's a long way to travel, but this had to be done.

Come back to me David.
I'm at the Drop.
