I think you DO get the 3k though.

My gold when I finished the event was 9.5k. After I had done it and gotten the heart, my gold is now 11.5k, and I haven't sold/done anything to get that amount of gold besides finish the event. o.o;

The last time I did an event on Gaia that involved buying items to get a different item in return, the different item wasn't even worth half of what the items I payed for were. xP
