The tree outside the school

[Flowers For Demon Horns]

I stood there waiting for my mother in front of the school for an hour.
The whole time I didn’t take my eyes off the tree with the bark as varied in color as a chocolate chip cookie.
People looked at me like I was crazy, but they couldn’t see, the magic in that chocolate chip tree.
They couldn’t see the leafs, long and thin fluttering and spinning down like fairies to the muddied ground.
They couldn’t see the glory in the butter yellow, pumpkin orange leafs, that were spatter with touches of cinnamon.
They couldn’t hear the dreams whispering through the twigs.
They will never see the wishes clinging to them just as the snowflakes did.
They didn’t, wouldn’t, couldn’t release the wishes, on those delicious leafs.
They couldn’t, the only one who could was me.
