Do you ever have a long drawn out speech that you have to memorize in at least a week? How do you do it? Or perhaps, your in the drama club and have a bunch of *conversation lines that need to be memorized by next week, clear cut as marble? I just wanted some people's advice on how they get their work done, or how they perhaps, prepared.

You are more than welcome to give suggestions and or tips on how to study and remember.

hmm
I usually just read it a couple of times
than forget about it for a day or two (if I have enough time)
than read it again a one more time during the presentation day, test to see if I remember enough
usually it all comes to me when I have to say whatever I have to memorize cuz I work a lot better under pressure xD

I would say those lines out loud over and... you know what Reignstar says right? Except I would say them out loud, over and over again. I do it everytime. Like the stratatgy guide for Paper Mario or other stuffs. My mouth does the talking for me. While I think. Just do it while no one isn't around.

If you write things out, or underline them while reading, it's easier to remember them.

Read it a few times, write it out *a lot*, and if not too long, put it to a song. I have a photographic memory, so reading and writing it works best for me. Or maybe even associating certain lines with pictures? That sounds like an awesome idea... I must try that one.

I would stand in line for this

I always get a beat going in my head. That helps me anyway, but I never took a drama class. Only Speech and once, I acted in the Jr. Class Play that our high school did.
You couldn`t understand anything my character said anyway, so it didn`t matter too much if I screwed up.

Though, I`ve always been pretty good at memorizing because of band since our director decided we were to have our music memorized by the first show.

I usually act it out at home by myself, that way I don't feel pressured by anyone watching me and it allows me to experiment. Sometimes I don't usually memorize it word-for-word, as long as I know what I'm talking about I improvise, that's what I had to do for The Crucible. I had to fill in for a girl and only had the part 2 weeks before I went on.

But Elizabethan style you have to memorize word-for-word, you know, the way Shakespeare wrote.

Oh my goodness!

Hey we did the Crucible too! One of my first plays as a Freshman. of course, being young and naive (I make myself sound old O.o) I got a mini part, which was great.

I had the best role though.

To Scream. Shriek--eek! <33
