DanskiWolf Quote: When Conservatives... were liberals! Heh, here in Australia they still are! Our main conservative party is called the Liberal Party. That's because economic liberalism = free markets, free enterprise etc. basically right-wing fiscal positions. Classical liberalism is nothing like the modern quasi-socialist crap that passes for liberalism (when their truly is nothing liberal about it - it's quite statist). Just an example of why I call them leftists rather than liberals.
Oh so this "liberal" party is that of the first Democratic-Republican party back in the 1700's which was more for a free market standard... their rivals being led by Hamilton who wanted an instilled Federal Reserve Bank... but that's a little extreme now-a-days (the not wanting a national bank) but I understand now. I recall doing research on classical liberalism, starting somewhere in the late 1700s!
I also remember them saying that a lot of the things they found "liberal" are what conservatives believe now -Free Market -Slave Rights ect, ect, ect!
