The distant ringing of an alarm filled his ears as images faded into blacknesses. Images of young women, men, as well as children. Images of a battlefield, up in orbit. Even as they faded from his mind, they were still clear as the red sun. steel chunks littered the vacuum, remnants of once glorious battleships, vessels that many good women and men fought on until death did their souls part. A once powerful space station, torn into a halve of it's original mass. Still, bodies were scattered through out the orbit, majority of them recovered after the massacre of a million. The ringing got louder, and the images got dimmer, soon, nothing but blackness could be seen.
In a quick movement, the man sat up and turned off the alarm. The darkness of the room instantly swapped in for the bright midday light. There sat the man, a human man, with hair so silver it had a small shimmer. His hair was cut short, in a buzz cut. Upon the left side of his face, was a scar, tracing from his lip to his chin. His eyes slowly fluttered open, the golden irises automatically adjusting to the light. Few wrinkles were scattered across his hard facial features. Age had done it's fair damage upon this man, as well as battles of many wars.
He began to shift off the bed, planting his feet upon the ground. At the touch, the floor gave off a small glow. A small sigh passed his lips as he stared at the clock that read "2:45". At the sound of the man's sigh, a small floating robot glided into the room. The mechanism had been built 1 foot and a half in height, and 1 foot and a half in width in a circular shape. It's arms were each 12 inches as well, 6 from the shoulder to elbow, and 6 from the elbow down to the fingers. The mech had been painted standard white, with red shoulder pads, and "fingers". It's hands were three pronged, with small claws as fingers.
Upon the front of the robot, was a screen that displayed parallel "eyes" and a sideways line as a "mouth". These of course weren't the robot's actual eyes and mouth, as it relied on an audio output built into the top of the creature, and sensors placed inside the room for it's maneuverability.
"Good morning Master Trevor." The mechanism spoke. The man, Trevor, was his name, replied "Good morning Freddy. Schedule" His order had a British accent to it. "You are requested to speak at the Rebel meeting today sir, at 3:30, then your schedule is free." Freddy answered. "Figures..." Were the last words Trevor poke for that part of his afternoon.
After a long warm shower, and picking out the right clothes, Trevor found himself ready to go to that gathering. He was the leader of a rebel faction, the Delta Kimberly faction to be exact. Wars had been launched left and right for the past two hundred years, two sides fighting almost constantly, hardly a year between each war. Two races converged constantly, the Dusk, and the Humans.
The Dusk were an odd race, the result of genetic modification, a creation of the human race. In the twenty-second centuary, scientists had experimented in the genetic modification of animals, splicing them with human genes. The experiments were a success, after the thirtieth try. It wouldn't be what what one would call, a "success" though. The scientific name "Dusk" (or the society name given "Furs") broke out and retaliated. They had stolen technology and moved away from the planet Earth.
Before a strategic silencing could take place, the Dusk were already out of grasp. They had Colonized on multiple planets, as did the Humans. Never did the Dusk and Humans share a planet at first. Wars were fought over territory, many lives, Fur and Human were taken. Now, after the Sixteenth war, two hundred years since the spawn of the Dusk, Alliances, or what was considered "Rebel Factions" have been raised. Some saw no point in the fighting, Dusk and Human beings formed together. The two sides of the war had come to recognize these people as traitors, the punishment of the two races interacting anywhere else besides on the battlefield was Death.
As Trevor approached the two large doors that lead to the stadium, he recalled the wars he had witnessed in his life. All the women and men he fought against, all the ones he fought with. He had grown tired of it, and formed himself a rebel faction, where they would try to stop the war. His mind wondered off past memories and to the present as he tried to remember his speech. As he approached the center stage, he finally let the sound of over a thousand screaming reach his ears. He was, after all, a hero. He cleared his throat into the microphone, a small smile past his face.
"Ladies, Gentlemen, I stand before you today, not as your superior, not as a kin to your creators, not as a child of those who made our allies, but as a man who has seen the extent of these wars. A man who has seen men and women and Dusk alike die for reason only god knows. I have fought on the deserts of Jilharea, under the oceans of Tamian, on the woodland plains of Tair ,I have seen and fought on most of the planets that both of our species has colonized. These two sides of these many wars show no mercy to their foe. They show no remorse to the other, but fear not my brothers, my sisters, my comrades. This fight may seem like it will go on forever, but with the information I have gathered, with the knowledge I have gained, I have a solution! And it will end!"
Screams raged louder as Trevor's words passed through the speakers, those in the front, near the stage held their hands up with pride, like they had already one the war. One did seem to stand out of that crowd, one blue hedgehog like boy, who appeared no more than 17. Trevor smirked and looked at the stadium of people, it wasn't full, but it still was alot of people.
The lighting in the stadium grew darker as a ship passed over. It was common for a ship or two to pass over the stadium, but this one seemed different, it flew lower than the odd ship, it stopped over the stadium. A hatch popped open, and the titanium covering fell towards the ground. His people began to scream as they ran from the the large piece of metal. Soon after, hundreds of men fell from the ship, jet packs propped upon their backs. They weren't regular men, the black helmets that covered their faces were shaped to cover a muzzle of any sort, they were Dusk. They landed on the chunk of metal that had dropped from the ship.
They held rifles at a ready position. They were here for blood.
Trevor jumped off of the stage and grabbed an arm, any arm. His hand landed upon blue fur, it was the hedgehog's. He spoke quickly as the crowd dispersed and tried to run away, "Follow me, move fast, move silent, This is gonna be my last stand". Trevor pulled the arm of the boy as he ran into back area of the stadium. His wrinkled hand dug into the pocket of his pants and pulled out a small pad "This is a hologram projector, you know that. The data crystal is already stored in, just watch it when your in a safe place." Trevor ordered. With a nod the Dusk boy spoke, a look of worry upon his face "Sir yes sir.". "What is your name child?" Trevor asked, "Dante, Dante Breeches, sir" The boy replied.
A wall down the hallway that they came crumbled and exploded, metal and stone slammed into the opposite wall. Fourteen beings in their black drop suits rushed in holding their riffles. "Trevor Oxford, you are wanted for assorting with the Dusk, all you have came in contact with shall parish before us" The one in the front growled with a voice so deep, it would have pierced the heart of those who had never seen a battle.
"You get out of her Dante" Trevor ordered. Hesitation was in Dante's eyes, yet he swallowed the smallest bit of fear and turned around. He just ran down the hall, taking lefts and rights, screams that were once pride had changed to fear and cries of the dying inside the stadium. Dante bolted outside of the stadium and into the back alleys, he had to get off the planet, but how?
