Alot of animal cruelty videos are exaggerated, by showing some true footage, but only the bad stuff. This is especially true for PETA. I'm all for ending animal cruelty and all, it's my life really, but I still eat meat...I just think it's human, but it's just as human if you don't wanna eat meat.
Simply explain to your mom that it's a choice you really want to make yourself. If they don't agree with you decide on one type of meat you'll eat-chicken, beef, fish-and only eat that one meat. It can be dangerous not eating meat at all, so if you really want to be a full blown vegitarian, you going to need to take shots. Talk to your doctor about those. (I know all this cause my 9 year old sister decided to become a vegetarian, she doesn't need shots yet, but she has to get them soon)

reignstar-72 Noxness I am disappointed at all the replies to this thread. If someone has chosen to be a vegetarian, you don't tell them to eat meat.. even if his/her parents are forcing them to eat it. They have clearly made a decision based on whatever personal beliefs they may have NOT to eat meat. What part of making a decision like being a vegetarian makes you a brat?? YES there are plenty of good things in meat, however those things can also be found in tofu (lots of protein), nuts, vegetables, fruits and vitamin supplements. The biggest problem most vegetarians have is that they aren't getting the proper nutrients, because they aren't replacing the ones they would get from eating meat once they cut it out of their diet. As for e-coli and hepatitis.. wash your fruit and vegetables. (Seriously.. never had that problem in Canada) I would suggest sitting down and explaining to your parents in a very diplomatic way that this is a decision that you have made and would like to continue to practice a vegetarian lifestyle. Sometimes new things can be difficult for parents to understand (even in this day and age). But screaming and yelling at them, will only make your situation more difficult. The more adult you are about the situation the more likely they will be to listen to you. Prove to them that you are serious, and not just chasing another Hollywood fad. *seconds that* I don't think anyone should be forced to eat what they don't want to eat... sad so you decide...think carefully! wink I third this

If your mom doesn't want to see the videos don't push it. You don't need another persons blessing and she doesn't have to agree with your reasons but she should respect your decision. My advice is to put your foot down. You've made a personal decision about your life based on your own morals. It's not like she can tie you to a chair and force meat down your throat. If she takes away material things like internet privileges or grounds you or any other punishment for your choice it would be unfair. But would going against what you think is right just to get those things make you feel any better?
Also, it's not thats she doesn't care. You should keep in mind that she's just looking out for you. It's common knowledge that it's hard to compensate for the nutritions meat offer and if I were a parent I'd try to keep my child healthy. The best way to convince her is to be mature and show that you've considered and educated yourself on the pros and cons of your decision. Show that your able to make the effort to keep yourself healthy even without meat.
tl;dr - Don't force your opinion. Get a backbone. Remember your mom loves you.

God you people are mean. This person chose to live their life this way, and they don't have a problem with it, and if you actually give a sh*t about what some stranger is putting in their mouth, I don't see why. rolleyes

Throw the meat at their faces and say "STFU." Seriously, that's really inconsiderate of them to try and MAKE you eat meat. What are the consequences of you not eating meat? If you really believe in what you're doing, then protest against the nay-sayers!
And don't listen to anyone trying to tell you that you're going to die if you don't eat meat, or that you're stupid or whatever for being a vegetarian. I think it's really cool of you to do that ;] I've always wanted to, but I like mah chicken too much ;.;
