Tattooing and Pregnancy

I’ve been planning on getting a tattoo on the back of my neck since last year but I never got it done since my husband and I weren’t in the best money situation at the time.
Anywho, I was planning on getting it with in the next month or two but I just found out I am pregnant a few weeks ago.
A few weekends ago my husband got a wedding ring tattoo and I asked the person who did it for him if it is a problem getting a tattoo while your prego and he said it was illegal for him to do it because if the tattoo get’s infected, the infection can get passed on to the baby (which I know) and he would be at fault if something happens to the baby.
But I was wondering, is this really true or is he just blowing smoke up my a**?

Sorry, it's true. ._. Most tattoo artists will not tattoo you.
For many reasons though, which differ from artist to artist and such.
Infection, stretching, prone to fainting, not healing properly, stress, bad inks/not sterile (which is more a reason for YOU not to do it...)... yeah. ._.

Ahh, I stumble upon this thread waaay too late :O
But yea. I had 2 pregnancies NEARLY one after the other. Needless to say I had a long wait before being able to continue some work on my sleeve in progress. That was fine with me, there was NO WAY I would get a tattoo and risk anything at all while pregnant. I'm glad to hear that tattoo artists themselves simply will not do it.

Absolutely worth the wait, of course. Congrats on your little one!! I see from your siggy ticker that you are quite far along heart
