When the trees were sprouting out of the earths moist flesh like divine pillions and the broken torn cities of mans creation had been exiled to the edge of the world, while the mistress held her young baby closer and the shadow engulfed figure of humanity slowly crept into hiding...a force...a force of incomprehensible magnitude was spawned. It almost seemed as if hell itself had rejected this creature, this demon so vile and banished it to this newly born planet. This world of purest design. And in doing so ushered in a age of metal, and nail and rust and springs and coils and gears and power. An age that was held tightly by the infant hand of man and taken.

Man grew prouder and stronger, his ego like a mad creature constantly hungry for more. Machines that tested the earth to its limits were made every minute of every day, sweat was the creator's fuel. The machines were built of such anger and hate one would hardly even consider the thought that man had created them. But man had.

The gears grinded and the springs sprung moving the pistons attached to the cogs. The machines were alive. They were breathing the motives of mankind. Their huge metal legs swatted aside the green trees of natures bosom and spread its corruption like a sinful laughter to cheerful to ignore. The earth did not go lightly however. The vines of meadows coiled up the legs of the great man-beasts, the flowers sprayed their seed across the eyes of the machines. A brave attempt but in vain it would surely be. The machines continued their mighty crusade of destruction with resistance being a mere passing thought.

Finally the machines had reached their goal. The Mother Heart. Oh yes legend be told but little believe it. And yet there it stood. Light echoing its inner soul, its smooth shape so enticing but never to be touched. Their it hovered encased by a great oak that stood so magnificently amongst its green brethren. The machines pressed forward. BOOOOM! BOOOOOM BOOOOM!

The machines cannons fired black oil onto the Mother heart. The very blood of the creature spewed forth on the surface so many years ago. More and more oozed over the Mother Heart, its red figure masked by mountains of sickly gunk. The oak began to shake, leaves the size of houses falling to the ground. The great oaks roots pulled free of its birthplace and began to mimic the machines actions in kind.

Wood cracked into the side of one of the metal giants, its cogs and bolts bled out from the damage. Its legs wobbled and its empty body sung as it crashed to the floor. The oak returned its roots to its place and sat once more. An elder amongst its kin. The machines stopped an sat just at the base of oak only to turn and stomp back. The oak began to slowly wither and the Mother Heart cracked, wires and cogs quickly pulling it together as steam burst from its valves. The tree rusted into a cold copper and the winds whistled through its hollow build.

There stands the Mecha Heart. Its skin a silver and its nails a corroded brown. The machines returning to their masters, successful in bringing an end to their creators. Mankind oblivious to their creations actions celebrated their return.
A hollow siren slurred from the Great Oak. Every man, mother and child turned to the Great Oak. Black tears streaming from their eyes. Regret for creation their new beds to rest and guilt their bread and butter forever filling the emptiness in their bellies.

This is really good. It's dark and I don't usually like dark themes and such, but this was really good. Kudos for you. How long did it take you to write this?
