Percy Grainger is my favorite composer. He compose Molly on the Shore, Irish Tune from County derry, and many more. These two music are so awesome, I play Molly on the Shore at the Clark County Festival and i love that piece so much. And Irish Tune From County Derry is such a beautiful piece to hear and play; it is a night/ romantic music.

I havnt really heard much from him. But I will defintely look into his stuff. This is one of the reasons I made this guild. So everyone has a chance to be introduced to new things.

Irish tune from County Derry always makes me cry. ><
But it's beautiful. My conductor gave me a wierd look when I was crying during our Hon. Orchestra performance of it.

I'm honestly not a fan of Grainger. His music just doesn't do it for me.

We tried to play Lincolnshire Posy last year in Band, but my band director made us turn it in because, although we are the better of two Symphonic Bands, we couldn't get the beauty of the sound ring, you know???

Aureleid I'm honestly not a fan of Grainger. His music just doesn't do it for me. Same. My school's orchestra played "Molly on the shore" and it .. well, we were all SICK of it after a couple weeks, and then we had to play it with the other high school orchestra together for months after. It was a big mess. But anyway, I had to do an extra-credit paper about Grainger and his life was actually really interesting, if people are curious.

The band I was student teaching with last semester played Lincolnshire Posy Mvmts. 1, 2, and 6. It ended up going pretty well. They were going to do Lord Melbourne as well but it didn't quite work out.
Lincolnshire Posy is my favourite work by Grainger, although I also enjoy the Irish Tune from County Derry. We played that in college last year and after we played the large final strain, we went back to the swell and sung from there to the end of the piece. It was amazing.

waterstream But anyway, I had to do an extra-credit paper about Grainger and his life was actually really interesting, if people are curious. He had a collection of whips, didn't he? I used to think rather poorly of Grainger, but I've recently been listening to British settings of English folk songs for band, which naturally leads to Lincolnshire Posy. The first few times I heard it, I was definitely not impressed, but I have to admit that it's rather grown on me, as impossible as it is to play.
